Hey guys I saw that they USCIS is coming out with a new policy manual for there officers who are adjudicating cases. This section applies to us who are filing pending I-751 and N-400 petition. Here is the link https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-12-part-g-chapter-5

“2. Spouses with Pending Petitions and Naturalization Applications

An application for naturalization may not be approved if there is a pending petition for removal of conditions. If an applicant’s petition to remove conditions is pending at the time of filing or is filed prior to the interview, USCIS will adjudicate the petition to remove conditions prior to or concurrently with the adjudication of the naturalization application.”

An officer should conduct the naturalization examination even if the petition to remove conditions is not in the CPR spouse’s A-file. The officer should follow internal procedures to request the petition. The officer must not approve the CPR spouse’s naturalization application until the officer has reviewed and approved the petition to remove conditions.”

thanks for sharing! hope this means the process will be uniform and everyone who is interviewed for N-400 with a pending I-751 will also be interviewed for the I-751 concurrently.

I filed my I-751 in September 2018, Biometrics in July 2019 and no updates since then. My extension expired in April 2020. I had an appointment to get the stamp in my passport but it got cancelled due to the shut downs.

My field office is still only doing emergency appointments. I know that you can get one for work related issues but I am wondering what else is considered an emergency.

I'm currently pregnant and have a toddler at home and my husband works basically all day. I'm just worried something happens and I have to take my child or myself to the doctor and without a valid driver's license or a support system around me this could be difficult.

If anyone has any input or know what they consider an emergency that would be greatly appreciated.

Edit for moderators: this can be merged with the following thread:

From our recent experience, this varies from officer to officer. In our case, the birth of a sibling's child was qualified as an emergency but not as a "life or death" emergency so the officer put us on an emergency ranking call-back list. My spouse did have to get certified letters from overseas confirming the pregnancy and due date by a doctor and his relationship to the pregnant woman and also show flight tickets. We did receive the call back, but when my spouse went to USCIS one officer was significantly more strict than the other and denying people's stamps, even though they had gotten the appointment.

You definitely need to be more clear about why you need the stamp. If you are saying you need to give birth overseas because you do not have support here, you will likely need a letter from your doctor and you will need to show proof of travel. Good luck!

    Hi all,

Our NOA for i-751 is May 30, 2019

Biometrics was done July 9, 2019

No update since last year... anyone else still waiting with no recent update?

This thread is for those who had their cases transferred from Vermont to another service centre. Also NOA in May 2019 here and case transferred from Vermont to Potomac in February 2020. No update since then.

that sucks man. My I-751 expires in a few months and it’s linked to my driving license. So I won’t be able to drive if they don’t give me a stamp.

If you are not approved by the time your I-751 expires call to make an infopass appointment and request an I-551 stamp in your passport. even if USCIS offices are still closed, this should qualify as an emergency. However, don't expect them to let you in unless your driver's license and I-751 are 30 days from expiring.

Hey all! Just had my case updated to "case is ready to be scheduled for an interview". How long after this notification did you get your actual interview date (pre-Covid cancellations). Thanks in advance!

I think the response to your question is that it depends on how busy your field office is. If there is a long queue for interviews then you are going to wait longer than people in less busy field offices. The status update to "We scheduled an interview for your Form..."  only happens when the interview date is scheduled.

Hi There!  We filed Aug 2019 and have had a similar experience.  We did biometrics and then received notice our case was being transferred (from Vermont to NBC) in Nov of 2019.  Then, radio silence.  I checked the status today and it says as of March 4th we are "ready to be scheduled for an interview" but have received no paper update.  Any ideas on how long this will take?  Once we do receive a date, about how far in advance will it be?  We are also approaching the time where we could file for naturalization at the same time (September), I'm torn between getting a date to just know when it will happen vs. letting it go so we can just do both at the same time.

My understanding is that you do not receive a letter notification when your status changes to "Ready to be scheduled for an interview". Rather the letter will come in the mail once the interview date has been scheduled. Good luck!

Our interview on April 7th was cancelled.

My husband (USC) got phone call from field office on June 8th to reschedule to June 15th.

On June 11th, case status online showed that my interview was cancelled. After no luck trying to speak with tier 2 officer, we came to interview anyway and they were expecting us. After interview, my status changed to "new card is being produced" two hours later. And the next day it changed to "case was approved". On Monday June 22, I got the approval notice in mail.

*Nebraska service center, February 2019 filer. Field office Columbus, OH.

    Good luck!

    congratulations!

Case status tool is playing with me since past couple of days. Lol , today again I received an update as following-On June 18, 2020, we transferred your Form I-751, Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence, Receipt Number WAC199024Xxx, to another USCIS office. That office now has jurisdiction over your case. We sent you a notice that explains why we moved your case.

this is the second update in past couple of days. Don’t know why they transferred to local office and then again back to service center??

same thing happened to us when our case was transferred to another service center (Potomac). We received 3 notifications:

my guess is they transferred you to NBC, which seems to be more common nowadays. keep us posted and good luck.

So the letter finally arrived, my case was also sent to the NBC. Kind of frustrating since they still had the option to adjust it in Vermont, but it is what it is. Here’s to another 3-6 months of waiting.

good luck. i can't believe it's already been 4 months since we receive our notice transfer and still notice. I'm assuming we were getting ready to be interviewed at Potomac before the pandemic but who knows what these transfers mean anymore.

Just wondering, did everyone here get two updates when your case was transferred? Yesterday I got an update saying my case is being transferred, today I got another update saying another office has jurisdiction. I wonder if it was transferred to my local office for an interview rather to the NBC or elsewhere.

    We got 3 updates:

in the end received notice that case was transferred to Potomac. Curious to see where your case went considering I've been seeing a late of people have their cases transfer to NBC recently.

    Hello All,

Just yesterday (after June 4th USCIS opened up for taking in person appointments) attempted to get an in person appointment for ADIT/I-551 stamp via messaging a customer representative, via their virtual help "emma" software. See attached image regarding their response. They say that although from June 4th  in person appointments have started, they have decided to not accept appointments for ADIT stamps until further notice, we have to keep checking their website for updates on when they will start ADIT appointments once again.

If you need an emergency appointment you need to call and speak to a human. The online thing is automated. Though your job should not reverify you that's actually against the rules. They may or may not give you an appointment for the reason.

USCIS Contact Center. Dial 800-375-5283 (for people who are deaf, hard of hearing, or have a speech disability: TTY 800-767-1833)

    USCIS Customer Service Phone Number:

more specifically, to reach a human:

    dial 800-375-5283 and then press 1, then 2, then 2, then 2

Do you have any source of information which support your statement that NBC is  adjudicating I-751 to help with  the backlog ? what I understand Is nbc send application to field office and they finally adjudicate, sometime field office waves interview requirements

Here's one timeline from a May 2019 filer that recently received approval after having case transferred to NBC in late March:

Excited to shar that app just updated: New Card Is Being Produced!

Interview was originally scheduled for April 14 but then canceled due to COVID-19 and app status changed back to interview ready to be scheduled.

Congrats! Thanks for sharing. This is 2nd instance in past week of ROC approval without interview after AOS without interview either. Hope this becomes more common.

I highly recommend filing online, it's very smooth and it filters out questions that don't apply to you based on your answers. Much easier and way less confusing then the paper form. If you haven't already, I recommend that you create an account and start filling out the form, it gives you a good idea of what they want from you. You don't have to submit it if you change your mind, and if you just need more time the answers are being saved for 30 days from the date you last saved any info. It wasn't until I actually logged in and starting filing out the form that I realized how simple it actually is.

This is very helpful to know. Thanks.

    Hello all,

I've been lurking for months here and wanted provide an update.

No not yet will apply May 18th when window opens. No red flags, lots of evidence, still happily married have no idea why they're wasting their time interviewing us. Maybe cause I Came on K1 and didn't receive an interview for AOS. Iim disappointed I thought id get approved without interview don't want to take time off work (Not worth wasting my PTO on USCIS)

    Thanks for sharing.

There goes my hope that they would waive interview because of the pandemic for us folks who came on K1 and didn't have an interview for AOS. It looks like they are still following the December 2018 protocol that states if someone did not have interview for AOS they need one for ROC.

From anecdotal evidence it looks like LIN filers from May 2019 are getting approved if they had AOS interview and you're the first LIN May 2019 filer I've seen to have an interview scheduled so I guess they're going in order (for the most part) for LIN.

My guess is since May 2019 EAC filers are being approved we will also start seeing EAC filers be queued for an interview (hopefully).

My case was originally in Vermont as well, filed in July 2019. Today I got an update that says my case is being transferred, but doesn't say where or why. I guess I'll have to wait for the letter. 😐

Looks like your status is 2 months behind ours. Filed in May 2019 and received update in February that case was transferred. Letter informed us cast transferred to Potomac Service Center. No updates since 🤷‍♂️ Good luck!
