OfficiallyMrsU got a reaction from Ms kj in Medical Exam in Nigeria
    Hi all,
For Lagos, you don't call to schedule an interview at the embassy or for the medical. For the medical you can just "walk in" to either of the clinics. The documents my fiance took with him to the medical exam were the initial letter (email) from packet 3 (what the embassy will email you to notify you once they have your packet from NVC-- it is an email "inviting you" to apply/interview for the visa with all instructions). He also took with him his interview confirmation letter-- the confirmation page you will print once you've completed the DS-160 and booked the interview.
At the medial exam, they will need to see these documents because they will also document what type of visa the beneficiary is interviewing for.
In our case, the emails from the embassy were sent to the petitioner. However, we didn't wait for Lagos to email us. Once we saw that our case was showing "ready" on the NVC case tracker website, we immediately emailed Lagos first and then they replied. You can wait to hear from them if you want-- we were just proactive. Hope this helps.

This is a very common practice in Nigerian culture. The groom will ask for a blessing from his family as well as the bride's family. The groom will fund all of these activities, not the bride.

After 8 months into the process and exactly 200 days, my visa has finally been approved. I passed the interview! A HUGE SIGH OF RELIEF. Thank you to everyone here, you have all been very supportive.

OfficiallyMrsU reacted to LionessDeon in How to explain 2 months of missing Chat :(
You really don't need to send every single chat message for your entire relationship, just a sampling here and there to show continuous conversation. Just a page or two each week is plenty. For the 2 month gap simply put sheet in that states "Computer issue/system crash, unable to retrieve chat log". Then pick back up for the time period you have to finish out with.
It's really not the end of the world as chat logs are only one type of evidence. Include other forms as well such as visit proof, phone call logs, pictures...etc. You can only send what you have right? So don't stress. If you can't produce it, you can't produce it. Send what you have.
    Good Luck!

My number one advice for you at this point is to save everything! Ticket stubs, boarding passes, receipts etc. and make sure to take pictures with preferably recognizable landmarks or anything indicating where you might be. Also take pictures with family and friends if possible.
I agree with others that there is no need for an agency or lawyers when you have this website. I have read about quite a few cases here that got RFEs despite using lawyers and/or agencies so there are no guarantees.
    Good luck!

If you have a simple case never ever use a lawyer or other agency that costs money. There's no reason for it when it's so easy to do it yourself with help from this forum.

After 3 long months of waiting we finally got our interview date last night!!! And it's for tomorrow! (tonight for my fiance') To say I am nervous is an understatement. So thankful I called the embassy, and they actually let me speak to someone. After talking to the gentleman, he said our case somehow managed to fall through the cracks, and we should've had our interview a month ago. He was very apologetic, and that's the reason for scheduling the interview so soon. I'm just so glad we actually got it!

Honestly, him not posting Facebook pics of the wedding isn't that suspicious on its own-- some people just choose not to share some things so personal and intimate online. HOWEVER, everything else you've shared are red flags-- the biggest of them being that he didn't tell his kids or their mother that he is married. I am so sorry that this is happening to you....all of us Feb 2016 filers have all supported each other through this journey.

Ok, reality check. That takes it all to a whole new level. I bet he divorced the mother of his child to use you for a GC and as soon he
has it will dump you and get his ex and child over here.
If you think any marriage counseling will change him into an authentic and honest person you are mistaken.
He has a hidden agenda and will pursue it by any means like a tenacious pit bull and will play the game to stay afloat.
SEND HIM HOME. End it. It will definitely get worse and all his money will go home, you will suffer for it.
Let it go. Move on. Don't prolong this mess.
If you need more proof to convince yourself, contact a PI on some tips on how to see/read with your own eyes
what you have suspected all this time. It won't be pretty. Please move on.

It wasn't reassigned. Every K1 petition gets sent to the Texas Lockbox address and is then assigned to a service center.
Send your RFE respond back to the address they stated in the RFE letter. It will tell you exactly where to send in the info.

OfficiallyMrsU reacted to Ismael&Blair in Visa approved but Administrative Processing?
I was told that if they specifically informed you at the interview that you were approved, it will be ok. Just be patient. Don't worry about the website showing "administrative processing". Technically, they are " administratively processing" your visa. It takes time for them to print out all the paperwork to put in the envelope and also to add the visa onto your passport.
My husband got interviewed last week (Wednesday) and he was approved. At his (Morocco) consulate, they specifically told him to go back the following Tuesday to pick up his visa. (And he did! YAY!) But that very evening after his interview. I logged on to check the CEAC website, and the status had changed it to "administrative processing" and I freaked out. I guess from reading so much on this Visa Journey website, people has twisted the term AP into a negative thing. I was thinking...what the heck happened because my hubby was approved?
I confided with an experienced Visa Journey person and she reassured me that if at the interview, he was told he was approved, then don't worry about it. The computer system may be slow in updating. So sure enough, I checked the website the next night, the status was already updated to "issued".
In my opinion, I think the term "administrative processing" has gotten a bad rep from the years. I think it's just a term they use after the interview because it's like the last step to process the case file's paperwork. For other people who has been waiting for months and months, there has to be something more to their case. (ie background checks, missing important documents, inadequate financial support, or one of the 221g reasons)
I don't believe at the interview, they would tell the person they were approved and then they are put in "AP" for months and months with no explanation. There has to be something they need to remedy. But again in the MENA countries, it has been a common thing due to further background checks. But who knows...my husband is from a MENA country and we have a big age difference too. And we were approved. So I truly believe it all depends on each individual case and there is not a black and white answer on how everything is done. .
So my guess is that there are SO MANY petitions/approvals from the Philippines, it's just a backup on their workload. And we know how tough the Casablanca one is. So it took 5 days to get his. Overall, we already know there's no rhyme or reason to the US government...we already survive the visa process from the USCIS stage to the NVC stage and then to the Interview.
So be patient a little longer, you are almost there (final stretch). Good luck and best wishes! Let us know when you have it in your hot little hands!

i want to write a post, but not really sure about how to start it, in a way that its contribute to the main goal of this site and not became also a cruel judge of the Holy Inquisition
    So there i go!!
When i found this forum, immediately i realised that it has a very strong structure, a lot of resources and tones of information, and also and the most important thing is all the contributions from all members that help us to understand the process and this is the most important content in a forum. Because the others sites you can find more accurately and updated information like uscis but here what makes it different is the experience of all members. Although all process are different each process generate lot of useful information.
Lately a could see that in an incremental way a few VJ members are becoming more judges instead collaborators.
People is here just to understand processes and hear any advice. no to be punished and nevertheless to be offended. If anybody doesn`t have any important contribution so its better not to post anything. if we feel someone is lying so we are not judges just say nothing instead of starting a holy inquisition.
We have to remember that we all are human being from different cultures, religions, countries. and somethings are good for a culture and not good for another culture and this is ok.
Moderators are doing a great job but i think is needed more attention to this issue.
I only wanted to be a collaborator not a judge, so please take it easy if you totally disagree with me just skip my post.
Best regards and good luck to all VJ members
    Ramon

Well our long, long, long awaited day has finally come! My fiancé received his K1 visa and had POE yesterday. I flew to Jamaica to bring him here. It was a hectic emotional trip running around getting him all packed up and visiting family and friends to say goodbye. Everything with POE went great and it was bittersweet emotional day.
Today is his first full day in USA and also my birthday!! What an amazing birthday present! We are celebrating by going to a reggae show in Chicago with friends who don't even know he's here yet! Can't wait to surprise them!
I want to thank everyone here at VJ. I couldn't have made it through this extremely difficult journey without you! I'd like to give a special thanks to LovelyUs, Pinkrlion, Jawaree, Natasha&Noor, and Ebunoluwa. Your advice and inspiration got me through very bad days and there were many of those! Thank you to everyone who PMd me with kind words and encouragement. The love I felt when no one else understood was invaluable. Thank you to everyone who PMd with questions asking for help. It was a joy to help others. It took my mind off obsessing over my own visa journey.
This is the best birthday I've ever had! After 2 years, I know I deserve it! It just once again proves True Love can win and in God's time thy will be done!
    Blessings to you all!
