hi folks, just want to ask a random question.

my i751 is divorce waiver case. it was 100%real marriage and i submitted divorce decree and evidence.

is an interview required for i751 divorce cases? i know uscis can do anything but is it common?

    note: i also have a pending n400.

    Hi there,

I filed jointly in may 2019, then updated my case to a divorce waiver in January of 2021, and had an interview in January of 2022. Basically 100% of my interview questions were about my relationship to my ex husband and what were the circumstances of our divorce, but my marriage was out of love so I wasn’t really worried about it. It all went well for me.
i don’t know if there ever is a set rule for uscis that applies to all similar cases :)

    good luck to you!

  2. Hi everyone!

I'm finally able to update you with good news, my case was approved after a long and stressful 975 days!

My situation wasn't very common, as I filed jointly (2019) but switched to a divorce waiver during the process (2021), and I chose not to hire a lawyer.

My interview was on 01/13/22 and my case status updated the same day, saying that my case was approved and my card was being produced. I was in and out in about an hour at the Washington, D.C. office.

The interviewer was very kind, but went straight to the emotionally hard questions about how and why my marriage ended (why did you separate, when did you separate, did you know it was the end then, what were your issues, how did you try to fix them, where did you live, who did you live with, what is your relationship with your ex husband, what about with his family, how did you file the form etc...) and then went over our 10-year relationship just like for the K1 process.

Just wanted to give hope to anyone who is going through this immigration process as well as relationship difficulties  and are deciding to go through this on their own: YOU CAN DO IT.

  3. Hi all,

Just wanted to update on my InfoPass appointment to get a new I-551 stamp.

@Nipperswife, as you had promised me, I was never asked for proof of emergency upon arrival or at any point, so that was convenient, and stress-free! 😄

I was in and out in about 30 mins at the Washington DC field office.

In theory I got what I came there for (the stamp). But then I was also hoping to be able to ask questions about my case, and unfortunately that wasn't possible.

I don't know if it's at all possible but I'm pretty sure the person I interacted with was not an immigration officer.

I was asking very simple questions about my case (eg: where is my case currently, which office should I communicate with...), and the person wasn't understanding my requests, although I am fluent in English and barely have an accent anymore.

In short: I need to update my petition to include a divorce waiver and wanted to know where to send it, or if  I could give it to them in person.

Upon rephrasing my question about 10 times, the "officer" proceeded to tell me that I should apply to a T visa (for victims of human trafficking!!!) because he believes that is my situation................

    O.M.G the incompetence. 🤡

All in all, very interesting experience that doesn't give me much faith in the system but oh well, all we can do is wait.

Good luck everyone, and thanks @Nipperswife for the advice !

    Patience is key 😝

Ok I have a question for people that are still waiting…so my wife’s 18 months extension expired and we got an infopass appointment at our local USCIS office. They did give her an one year extension stamp on her passport. We were just thinking earlier….they took away her expired green card. Is that correct? I’ve seen people still has possession of their expired green card.

please let me know and thank you all!

Hi there! Still waiting as well… 😑 They seem to keep the card sometimes (maybe depends on the officer?), as the stamp itself is proof of permanent resident status and the expired green card isn’t anymore. They let me keep mine but it’s now more of a souvenir than anything.
    good luck!

Call them back and tell them you have a letter from your employer that you will lose your job if you don’t update. They don’t even ask for the proof of that letter. They will call within 3 business days to schedule your appointment. They usually call back once if u missed the call. I saved the number … i would do that if I were you too.

Hey! Just wanted to thank you for the advice as it worked.
Customer service called me back within 1 day, then told me I had to speak to tier 2 officer as there were no available appointments at my field office. Tier 2 called back within 3 business days and scheduled me for next Monday, asked that I bring proof of emergency.
good luck everyone, don’t give up!

  6. Hi all! 461 days since my last update here… Do any of you guys have an experience to share with scheduling an InfoPass appointment for the I-551 stamp recently?
I called 60 days prior to expiration of my stamp, was put in the queue and told I’d get a call back within 30 days. I missed the call while at work and it now seems like I was but back in the queue and will have to wait another 30 days for a call…

My I-551 expires on 12/2, I am not hopeful that this will be resolved by then but I have to leave the country.

Just wanted to see if anyone had a positive experience or issues with the same thing 😊

best of luck to you all still waiting like I am !

I am wondering if anyone in this group had filed their I-751 back in June 2019 and still haven't seen any movement?  I am feeling a bit frustrated because since June of last year our case was waiting for an interview to be scheduled.  I realize with the pandemic things have slowed greatly, but I feel like people who have filed after us have been getting their approval.  Any suggestions?  I can't raise issue yet since it's not out of normal processing times, etc.  Just feeling super frustrated...that's all!

Just wanted to say I’m with you… filed in May 2019. Case has been “ready to be scheduled for an interview” since April 2020. Getting more and more frustrated with the lack of actions we can take and the unfortunate time it’s taking compared to others. Hang in there 💪

    Hi all,

Just sharing as a reference for others watching their progress...  We received a new I-797 Notice of Action document in the mail today congratulating us on the approval of the removal of conditions. It states that we should expect the new green card within the next 60 days. We had filed on 8/5/2020 and this approval letter is dated 4/26/2021.

Side note, the previous biometrics must have been carried over... though, we never actually received any direct word on biometrics.

But, just wanted to share some good news on LIN progress, especially since it seemed LIN had been very quiet.

That’s great to hear! Congratulations! Was your case status updates online as well?

Bumping this one because I haven't seen much in the way of updates from anyone at the LIN service center. It seems like that service center is now one of the slowest in the nation. If you are processing at LIN don't forget to add/update your info on the spreadsheet!

Thanks for this! I’m unfortunately at almost 24 months now and forever waiting… I hope some of you at least are getting updates!

    good luck !

Well, after almost 2 years, the case was finally approved after a joint interview, but not before the Oath Ceremony Was Scheduled status update for the N400 appeared. May 10th is the big day for my wife, and after that, her visa journey will be over. It's been a wild, frustrating ride, but I'm happy to have had this community. Good luck everyone and I wish everyone well in their future!

    Harold

Finally! Congratulations to both of you. I’m looking forward to knowing what that relief feels like 🤣

All done! My interviews went great and it was a really fast and painless process for me (This was the PDX field office).
Got there a bit early and just had to wait outside until we were at 15 minutes before appointment time. Went through security (very few people, very clean, everyone wearing masks!)
Husband and I promptly got called in at our appointment time.

The officer we had was super friendly, upbeat and really nice. We started off with the RoC appointment, the whole thing lasted all of maybe 5 minutes.
We were asked when we got married and if we were still married, what our mailing address was (for the sake of notices being sent), we mentioned we just bought a house and were moving in 3 weeks, he congratulated us and mentioned that he thought that should be fine in terms of getting any further notices, we were then asked

how we met (we rambled a little bit) and mentioned we have a baby due in August and also confirmed where I immigrated from. Officer was satisfied with all that and seemed happy with just the "still married, bought a house and having a baby", and did not ask for a single document to prove anything. The only thing we were asked for was ID (husbands license and I was asked for my expired GC). We made a little bit of small talk outside of that.
We were then told I was approved for my ROC, that he'd need 5-10 minutes to process it and we would be sent back out to the waiting room, after which he'd call me back for my naturalisation interview.

Waited about 10 minutes and was called back alone for my naturalisation interview. He confirmed all my details again (name, DOB, marital status, country immigrating from etc.)
We then did the civics test, I was asked 6 questions and then made to do the reading/writing portion (all on an ipad, I just had to read out a question and then do the written answer. Super easy).
After that it was just going over all the usual questions confirming things like no acts of terrorism, never been arrested for anything, not lied about anything etc.
We made small talk while he processed some things. All in all, it was probably only 5-10 minutes long. Again, no documentation required at all, he just took a quick look at my expired GC again.
I was then given a printout and was told he was recommending me for naturalisation and that had I passed the interview :)

Oath ceremony will be in a few weeks and I'll be notified of an exact time and date through the mail!

Congratulations !!!! What a relief you must be feeling :)  hopefully things get moving for us all still waiting, but your message brings me hope!
    Wishing you all the best

This thread seems to be a little inactive, I recently noticed there has been some traction at LIN, people are even getting approved in 8/9 months. I am in the June 2020 filer boat, it would be awesome if people can share the traction on their end.

I wish there was traction on my end 🤣 Applied in May of 2019, biometrics in October 2019, case was transferred to NBC in March 2020, case stuck at ready to be scheduled for an interview since April 2020. I’m sure it’ll take a while for an interview to be scheduled because of current restrictions. Still hoping it’s somehow waived !

A little update! 🎉They scheduled my N400 interview and I am assuming it will be a combo interview with my pending i-751.

The interview notice I got doesn't say anything about the i-751 and it specifically says that you're not allowed to have anybody else there besides lawyers, but I will still have my husband come with me since he would have to be present for the i-751 interview.

    Don't lose hope guys!

    Finally! Congratulations !

Long time lurker, first time poster. Filed I-751 for removal of conditions on 05/14/2019. The last update I had according to USCIS case status is that my case was transferred to the Potomac processing center. Nothing since then.

I got my I-551 stamped last week, since I will be changing jobs soon and needed proof of status. That extends my status until 01/2022. I have also filed for N-400 in 07/2020. Hopefully something changes with either the I-751 or the N-400 soon.

Welcome and Good luck ! Hopefully you hear something soon. I applied for I-751 a couple days after you and live in the same area. My case has been transferred to NBC in March 2020, nothing since then.
