  1. We use Metro PCS. We pay $50 monthly for 2 lines. Ive never had a problem other than slow internet during the last days of the months, I assume because I ran out of my 4G? Which can get annoying but, we're not willing to pay more than that, so that works for us! The phones themselves we bought through BestBuy, since we got their credit card we were able to get a super affordable 2-year payment plan on our unlocked Galaxies. Overall pretty happy with the whole experience!

  2. Hey, congrats!! Glad everything went so well! :) I just have a question! Did you end up taking any financial documents (pay stubs, letter from employer, etc) to the interview with you? I know the interview letter says to take them unless already submitted (which we did), but I have seen a lot of people on several threads mention that they still brought them...just curious if you brought those!!

    It went well!

Cell phones ARE allowed in the building but there are signs to not be on them in the waiting area.  (Saw plenty of people browsing things on their cell phones in the waiting room though.)

We checked in, got a ticket number, which kind of worried me, but our number was called right around our scheduled interview time.  From the time we walked into the building to when we were back outside on the sidewalk was about 40 minutes.  The IO was really nice.  She didn't even ask to see the binders.  Lol!

She said she should have the case finished with review by this afternoon hopefully.  She didn't anticipate any problems and expects the green card to be issued soon!

Random funny: when IO started asking hubby random questions from the application like "are you involved in prostitution?" and whatever the one was about drug and weapon trafficking, hubby's eyes bulged a bit to actually be asked that (he of course answered "no! Of course not!")  The IO got a good laugh at hubby's facial expressions and explained that she had to ask these questions.  😁

How many of you have the Case Tracker app?

I downloaded it once but I deleted it because this whole process is way too stressful. Now I wanted to download it to do the scan on the other cases around my case number but I don’t find it at the App Store. Someone on the November thread also mentioned that he can’t find it.

I have it. Wow, that's weird! When I first downloaded it I looked it up as USCIS app...I've been using it this morning no problem

Ok, so when we have the "Case is ready to be scheduled for an interview" it basically means that the case is still at the NBC? I really thought that if someone gets this update the case is already at the field office...

    * from what I have read here on VJ*, yes, that is correct (that the case is already at the field office). However it * seems* to all be anecdotal...don't know if USCIS has ever confirmed it.

Let me tell you a very weird thing. I have a friend and she lives in LA. She and her husband NOA1 date are December 31st, 2018. They got an RFIE because of the transcript, they needed to send it to the USCIS but she NEVER got a Biometrics appointment. She called the USCIS about 4 times but the representative was not helpful. 2 weeks ago I read on the November thread you need to ask for Tier2 if you want to talk to a real person. So I called her and she made a phone call immediately. The Tier2 lady on the phone said it's a USCIS error so she rescheduled her Biometrics to May 2nd BUT here comes the funny part: last Monday she got an EAD approval letter !!!! Without a Biometrics!!! She didn't receive the card yet obviously because she hasn't done the biometrics yet, but she got approved!! Also, she got her SSN car (she is overstayed so she never had it before) with the sentence on the card that says: "Valid for work only with DHS authorization".

My question is HOW DID SHE GOT APPROVED ON THE EAD WITHOUT BIOMETRICS? As I said, she doesn't have the card yet, but she got approved.

Btw, I saw the approval letter, so I know it's true!!!

That is very weird, I honestly am extremely sure it 100% depends on WHO is looking over your case. So, my only assumption is she happened to talk to the right Tier 2 lady. Luck seems to play a massive role on this process.

On another note, I also have a SS card (from an internship I did as part of my bachelors) that says the same thing, and they didn't take my biometrics for that one, either. However, I couldn't just go and apply to any job I wanted with that SS card, I had to do it through the international office at my school. I never thought AOS filers get the "valid for work only with DHS auth." card. I would be careful, it could be a mistake on their part and they erronously sent her the card...who knows? Everybody's process seems to be so different. I just ran a report on the app and there's few people around my case number that have the Case is Ready to be Scheduled for an Interview. Most of them have Fingerprints Reviewed or even just Case Received. At that point, our files are not at our local offices yet, they're all at the NBC, so technically it should take the same amount of time for everyone. Same with EAD/AP as that is overseen by NBC and not local office

Congrats on your Interview date! Florida is fast, that is what I know for sure. I have 2 friends there who actually didn't file expedite and they had their interview in less than 3 months!

Thank you!! Yeah, it's crazy how fast everything has come along. I did not file for expedite either, so I was very surprised. My local field office processing time, according to USCIS, is 9-22 months; however, from what I have seen on the visajourney AOS timelines stats, ~3-4 months seems to be the norm for Tampa filers https://www.visajourney.com/timeline/aoslist.php?vtype=&op8=Tampa+FL&interview=&xfr=&op1=d&op2=&op3=&op4=1&op5=5%2C6%2C8%2C9%2C10%2C11&cfl=

Hi guys, I randomly went to the library today out of boredom and stumbled across a book about fiancé and marriage visas! I read a passage about what we could bring to the AOS green card interview to prove the marriage is real and I found it helpful, so hopefully it can be to some of you. Some of us have already got scheduled interviews so this is the time to collect everything!  I know most of this is obvious but if it helps one person out there that would be great.

    Proof that your marriage is real;

The interview is often the first opportunity that the USCIS officer has to decide whether your marriage is 'for real'. The documents that you show are important factors in the decision. They should show that you and your spouse's lives are intertwined and that you trust each other with your financial and personal matters.

Below is a list of documents most immigrants present. However, this isn't engraved in stone. Use your imagination and be ready to do some organized 'show and tell'. No need to flood the officer with paper -- copies of 6 items from this list would be a reasonable amount.

    • rental agreements, leases, or mortgages showing that you live together and/or have leased or brought property in both spouses' names
    • your mutual child's birth certificate or a doctor's report saying that one of you is pregnant
    • utility bills in both your names
    • joint bank statements
    • joint credit card statements
    • evidence that one spouse has made the other a beneficiary on his/her life or health insurance or retirement account
    • auto registrations showing joint ownership and/or address
    • joint club memberships
    • receipts from gifts that you purchased for one another ( these should be typical gift purchases, such as jewelry, flowers, or candy)
    • letters from friends and family to each or both of you mailed to your joint address
    • photos of you and your spouse taken before and during your marriage, including photos from your wedding. (USCIS knows wedding pictures can be faked, but many officers enjoy seeing them anyway). The photos should, if possible, include parents and other relatives from both families. Write the date taken and a brief description of what the photo shows on the back (or underneath, if you're photocopying them). Don't bother with videos of the wedding or other events -- there won't be time or a space to view them

Thanks so much!!! We already sent most of these with our AOS package but I guess it won't hurt to bring them to the interview too

Challenging myself to stay off Netflix today and actually do other things. Haven’t figured out what the “things” are yet 😂. Yay to those on their status changes & scheduled interviews!!

I am keeping myself busy planning a little 4th of July trip lol. Working on finding affordable lodging, airplane tickets, activities, etc. and creating a budget to stick to for the next couple months. If you enjoy doing that kind of stuff :)

March filer checking in (Wife adjusting from an F-1).

Application received by USCIS March 21. Biometrics completed April 8. Initial interview notice received yesterday (dated April 16) for end of May (We were ready to be scheduled for an interview on April 10). We were shocked at how quickly it came since I had heard it takes 1-2 years, especially since we are in NYC (although it looks like quite a few others are on a super fast timeline as well, but in other areas of the country?). We still need to complete her medical exam, but will do that ASAP.

We also submitted an EAD expedite request on April 9, and faxed supporting evidence on April 16. Contacted Congress yesterday, but will have to send in a privacy notice form first.

Woohoo adjusting from F-1 here too! Congrats on your fast-approaching interview!! :)

Hi guys! My case tracker just got updated! My interview is scheduled! I just have to wait for the letter! woohoooo!'

    So this is my timeline for it;

    Biometrics was completed on 04/11/2019

Case was updated to 'case is ready to be scheduled for an interview on 04/18/2019

Case was updated to Interview was scheduled' on 04/23/2019

Same here! It just got updated  I can't believe it's all happening this freaking fast! Currently scrambling to schedule a medical 🤣🤣 and wondering what we need to bring to the interview?

Hello! I was checking for processing time. In my understanding, my papers are being process in NBC. But when I went to USCIS website this is what they gave me, please see attached photos. There is no NBC option for I-485, which, I don’t get. Does anyone knows why?

I'm pretty sure everyone,'s cases start out at the NBC. Once they've reviewed our fingerprints and general info, everyone's file is mailed to their local office! So ultimately, your local office will process your I-485 so that is the processing time that matters :)

In case this helps someone... I obtained my SSN quickly after landing in the US in my maiden name. I went back to the social security office and they wouldn't change my name... I pushed the issue and they reluctantly agreed to submit the name change request with the following evidence: marriage certificate, passport, and I-94 (a lot of eye rolling on their part).

Good news is that it was accepted and I received new SSN card with my married name in the mail today. Took the SSN card along with marriage certificate to the DMV today and now I have a state ID in my married name as well 🙂

That is great to know! I had a similar problem...had a SS card with my maiden name from last year. Went to the SS office a few weeks ago to try to change my name on my card, and also encountered tons of reluctance and eye rolling. They just wouldn't do it. I've decided to try and wait for EAD before going back (which is also what they ended up suggesting)...fingers crossed it won't be an eternity before I receive it. :(

Old website shows no changes. New website frustratingly just says "case received" and it doesn't even show the date of when case was received. I gave up, and called USCIS today, very short wait time, maybe 5 mins. Lady confirmed that they did indeed received biometric data for AoS and EAD and website can take "30 to 45 days to update" At the end of the call she had to mandatory spiel about "You can get same information you got from me online" at which point I quietly muttered "Clearly no, I cannot"

I just downloaded the USCIS case tracker app and it actually shows the dates the updates were made! It's pretty good
