I am posting this just because I have seen lots of friends from August worried about losing the job because of the expired green card and no NOA1 yet. Now, since, I, unfortunately, is the one with the most complex situation than any of yours since I am the only divorce waiver case from August filing, please hear me out. I have paid tons of money to lawyers for both divorce trials and of course the ROC process. By the way, I paid a lot of money for second and third opinion consultations as well. Here is what the law says
 
1. You are Conditional Permanent Resident until immigration judge denies your status (please note you have working rights, there is no need to show your employer unless you want to change jobs that is when you need the NOA1 to show, otherwise you are good). My employer knew that my green card is expired but because of the influx of immigrants like us, they knew that I am still legal as it is the government process which is delaying the case. So please don't freak out, I was without valid GC for more than 4 weeks before I had NOA1. 
2. Don't call USCIS as most of the officers will never tell you the right thing because based on 2 recent memos USCIS is no longer a customer service department but has been given more power and as per memo from June 28, 2018, they have been given discretionary powers to deny cases. What am I talking about? Just wait for full 60 days before even calling them to inquire about your case, get info pass after that and you should be fine.
 
I know the waiting is the worst part and it kills everyone and I am in the worst position because my supposed to be better half for life turns out to be the backstabber and stealer. I have lost everything all the inheritance savings that I have from last 2 years in divorce and paying attorney fees. I am living in a car right now to pay my debts. Please relax you all are happily married nothing bad is going to happen to you guys and I have my prayers for all of you. You guys are lucky so cherish this time and don't stress too much about it. It is easy for me to say now because I have gone through the initial phase of getting the NOA1 which I had no expectation to get because of Class A scrutiny for cases like me with my religion and country of origin. I just want to motivate you guys to relax, for now, believe me, it will be good in the end.

They would have to start it when the new law would take effect, so anyone just starting the visa journey after it was put in to place could have a problem. 

That's correct, and likely based upon the same draft that leaked earlier this year. Back then it was just towards those going for LPR status, now I see they are trying to push it onto those going for citizenship too. Whelp, again the only thing I can offer of any comfort is the fact that this administration, if they continue with this, will see themselves in court. And I believe they will lose, badly.
 
The government cannot penalize someone for using a service they told them explicitly that was legally available to them to begin with.

My 2 1/2 cents is, we hired a attorney for the K1 visa since all of this was new to us and new to this web site. Once we saw what and how the attorney did it, we have done everything ourselves since with the help of VJ. As long as you were very careful about doting all the eyes and crossing all the tees, and understanding exactly what they are wanting in each step, you will be OK. The waiting time is what does everyone in even if you use an attorney. Since you already sent yours in, you can always hire an attorney if needed to step in and help with any problems. Good Luck!

What the Donald had done in this election has been to polarize the nation in to two sides!
With this election the Donald was spewing hate,lies and anger! He talks without facts to back it up and was using peoples anger and frustration in their lives to get their votes. He made democrats out as traitors to this country and foreigners, non citizens, and immigrants were second rate Americans. He never made his taxes public and what we do know is he used loopholes to get out of paying taxes for years, something the average american will never be able to do when they have a loss. He talks about leaving NATO and the united nations, reassessing our allies and enemies. His campaign was all talk with very little actual facts on how he was going to get things done. He was used to running a company where people were being paid so they likes him and sucked up to him. He ran his election like it was a hostel take over of a company but this is a country not a business! He forgets he lost the popular vote and most people in the country did not vote for him. Now he expects everybody to come together and all say "Hail to the Trump". And lets not forget about the conflict of interest problems that will be going on and what kind of president hangs out on tweeter all the time!
In the past elections my candidate of choice has won or they have lost. My feelings towards the winners in the past if I did not vote for them was Ok the other guy won, let get on with it, but now this a big pill to swallow because I just don't think he is the man for the job! Yes we needed change in America but he is not it.I think he just wanted the words President of the United States by his name and to help his businesses. I think he a narcissist and is going to put us and the world in danger, but that my opinion. I could go on and on with the sexist stuff, and now letting his kids go to important meetings and so on and so on but not enough time today so I say:
Good luck America and the world because were going to need it!

I agree but everybody knew who Trump was at the beginning of the republican race, they thought he was a breath of fresh air that would bring in more and new voters to the party because of his popularity and as it turned out, he was just a smelly narcissistic fart that cleared out the room!

Only way for him to change is for them to duct tape is gap shut and shove him is a suitcase and have a lookalike dummy and a ventriloquist take over!

Initially yes, but the reason he thrived was he attracted the wrong kind of attention, that's why at the beginning they tried to stop him. I surmise if Sanders or any other candidate that was male(read white male) clinched the nomination, no way Trump would have made it this far. He wouldn't have even run since he couldn't measure up to any decent politician on the GOP side.
