Don't worry. Going in, Argentina won't ask for anything US related, just your passport. You will have to show your documents (GC + extension letter) at the counter in Argentina when you are going back to the US so it's the airline folks looking at your documents, not Argentinian officers. I did this in 2019 in Chile (flew LATAM) and no issues whatsoever. I did it as well in China and had no issues either.

You have to call USCIS 30 days before it expires, so I guess you can call anytime. When I did it in March, I called and was told someone would call me back to schedule it. Then, I just went to my appointment, handed over my GC and got the stamp. I used ask Emma to get the conversation started I think.

@cosmonauts Thanks for responding! She's not going to update the statement of reason. Her embassy said they sent the No Objection Statement to DOS. She's waiting for the website to update.

I finally became a US Citizen on June 25th. Even though I received an email with instructions for a drive-thru oath, they made me go inside with a group of people. There were maybe 15 people in the room. No family allowed. So happy this is over!

cosmonauts reacted to seetsuh in Updated My SSN with SSA and it was simple
The whole process took a week, I first applied for my passport and passport card, I then filled out the SSN application and mailed it off with a letter stating that I am updating my citizenship status and included my passport card as evidence of citizenship. So if anyone is worried about SSA loosing their naturalization certificate, you don't have to mail that, just mail your passport card if you applied for one.

I had my interview two weeks ago. The officer accepted 2020 tax returns. The online system also rejects my name for some reason so we never file online.

    Hi All:

I am now a U.S. citizen. The combo interview (i-751 and n-400) went well. Here's my experience today.

1- We were waiting in the lobby for about one hour. A lot of people who checked in after us got call by IOs before us, my husband then went to the reception to check what was happening with our case, the was told our case was currently under review and the officer will call us once she finishes the review.

2- We were finally called about one hour later than our scheduled interview time, the officer said she only needs me. so my husband hands over all his paperwork to me and gave me a kiss LMAO! the officer was laughing all loud and I was a little bit embarrassed since there are so many people in the lobby lol.

3- The officer walked me into her office and said I was waiting longer because she was reviewing my i-751 documents and just approved, so no need to go over i-751 anymore, just n-400.

4- The officer went over basic information of my n-400 and made a few updates, went over civic test, Yes/No questions, and then asked me if I want to do oath today or wait a few weeks, if I want to do today, then I may need wait with her for a while since the system is slow on updating my i-751's approved status. I said i'd like to wait with her since both my husband and I took a day off for today, she said ok. then a few mins later she was able the print a paper stating I was approved for N-400.

5- She directed me to first floor for oath, I signed a paper in the oath room, and a few mins later I took oath and was given my citizenship certificate.

That's it, when I came out from the oath room, my husband seemed to be more excited than me lol...Anyway that's just my experience, it was overall smooth and efficient, I have a relatively simply case too, both me and my husband are first marriage, no crime, no overdue taxes, both working, similar age, etc. and we still submitted tons of documents for both I-751 and N-400s. and I do believe that the officer went over every page of our applications.

For all of you at Visajourney, thank you, it's a great resource during every step of my journey.

Best best best wishes to everyone at Visajourney.

I would say that is not bad already! I believe they just want to reduce in-person interactions as much as possible, that's probably why they let your husband stay outside. As long as you were both there it's already good for them. But they did conduct both I-751 and N-400, AND recommended for approval, they may just need a little bit time to review your updated documents.

I had my combo interview this morning. I got the dreaded "decision cannot be made". The officer said because I had a pending GC he couldn't approve me on the spot but he was recommending my case for approval. That I should get something in the mail in 30 days. I'm so f%$%% disappointed. I know they are doing same day oaths because we heard someone given those instructions while we were waiting. The journey continues.

Here are the questions I was asked

Read: Where is the White House? Write: The White House is in Washington DC.

What is one state that borders Canada?
What are two rights in the Declaration of Independence?
What is one war fought by the US in the 1900?
Who did the US fight in WW2?
What did the Emancipation Proclamation do?
What did the Declaration of Independence do?

I think I had a similar case. I also moved in to a house my husband owned and I wasn't in the bills, still am not. This is what we sent for ROC in July 2019 and we didn't get an RFE. I later sent more documents for 2019-2020 with my N-400 application. I hope this helps.
For the bank and credit card statements, I think we sent 1 per quarter from when the accounts were opened. You could also send the previous lease just in your spouse's name and explain why that was.

    Copy of marriage certificate
Copy of house deed showing joint ownership of community residence (this happened right before ROC, didn't have it for GC)
Copy of car title showing joint ownership
Copy of car insurance showing joint coverage
Statements from X Bank showing joint checking and savings account
Statements from X Credit Union showing joint checking and savings account
Statements from X Bank showing joint checking account
Statements and transaction history from X credit card showing applicant as account owner and spouse as authorized user
Statements and transaction history from X credit card showing spouse 1 and spouse 2 as account owners
Joint federal and state tax returns for the years 2017 and 2018
Employer benefits summary from spouse showing applicant as beneficiary
spouse's life insurance policy showing applicant as beneficiary
spouse's retirement plan showing applicant as beneficiary
Applicant's pension beneficiary election showing spouse as beneficiary
Utility bills as proof of shared address (not joint, one had my name, one had his)
Copy of spouse and applicant driver licences as proof of shared address
Printed pictures of the couple and friends at different social events

Had my Combo interview today (Minneapolis,MN Office). Lasted for about 30 minutes. Wife was interviewed first for about 5 minutes, then interview took the rest of the time. I was approved.
I was asked at least 6 Civic questions(I was surprised he went that far, but all good since I prepared for it). The officer said I should be part of the next Ceremony (in June). So the last wait begins. Good luck to all that are still waiting for both biometric or/and interview appointments.

I attended my oath ceremony and received my naturalization certificate last Wednesday, 4/21/21.
Not too bad! Better than I was expecting time wise.
The ceremony wasn't what I would have expected. Thirty people in a room, no friends or family, judge on a webex. It was about 10-15 minutes in and out.

Interview at USCIS office in Chicago. Arrived on time, I wasn’t sure if they would allow my husband to join given how different USCIS operate but the Chicago folks didn’t even ask questions, they just let him in. we set down for a few minutes and we were called in right away. The officer asked for mine and hubby drivers license, passport and green card. I then told her that when I recently came in for a I-551 stamp they took my conditional green-card since it had expired.

She then said let’s start with I-751 interview, she asked how we met. My husband and I are both chatter box so we told a story of how we met.. she commented on the fact that we travel a lot. It seemed like she had looked at our file. She did not ask for any originals or any additional information.

Then she did my civics test:
What does the presidents cabinet do  What political party is the president  Who is the speaker of the house  Name a right under the first amendment Who was the First president  Why does the flag have 50 states  Reading- what day is Columbus Day?
Writing - Columbus Day is in October
Then she proceeded to ask the eligibility questions.
She then told me I was approved and should have the oath ceremony in the next 3-4

So glad this journey is finally over and I’m grateful to the visa journey community support
