My impression is that you should spend more time getting to know him. It takes time to get through all the misconceptions that people can have of things. For example, my husband in the first months thought we could apply for a tourist visa and he could come to see what it is like here, which really was an unlikely scenario. There are just a lot of things that are unknown, and through time, you will discover and have a better grasp of the situation as it really is. You shouldn't appear too eager to go there so quickly, then you can truly understand the intentions of this new person you have met. I don't know how old you are or anything and don't wish to sound preachy, but each of you will have notions which only time will dispel.

I would not sign anything. Block his calls, and ignore him. You can make an infopass appt to your local office and let them know that you are divorced, and do not want any further involvement in his immigration case.

Morocco is a big tourist location. Lots of foreigners travel there. I spent a summer there and took the bus and train from Casablanca, Rabat across to Oujda. I also rented a car and drove around. People are very friendly. You have nothing to worry about. However, if you haven't known him that long, take time to get to know him first. I talked to my now husband for a year before I went there. He was a primary school teacher. I felt pretty confident meeting him and he met me at the airport the first time we met, and we drove a rental car 10 hours across the country. Go with your gut feeling. I wouldn't recommend bringing your children the first time. You want to be comfortable by yourself. Do you have any siblings that could watch your children? My family had some suspicions before I went, which I felt in my heart were just not correct. They just didn't understand our relationship. Now they do

I'm so happy right now, words can't even describe She's just waiting now for the visa so she can book a ticket. It will be almost one year since we saw each other. I know I am lucky because our journey went rather smoothly (disregarding NVC issues), I hope everyone gets to be with their loved ones soon. Hang in there!

Lower your expectations. Green card opened the door here but nobody will wait for you on red carpet with 100k paid job. People do everything to survive. I do have masters degree but I worked on gas station, in restaurant and in bakery store night shift. Bills have to be paid. You always can work in Walmart, Mc Donalds, drive uber or lyft, be babysitter...There are plenty of opportunities in this beautiful country............

true, going with a friend will help you feel more comfortable, not safe. Also if it's your first time out of the country it might be a good idea to have someone with you.
    Long story short :
    - will you be safe in Morocco? Yes, if you act safely and avoid bad areas (ask the embassy for advice).
    - is it a good idea to go to a country you have never been to, to meet a person you never met before? Not the wisest idea. But as I said, I don't know your fiancé so I don't want to jump to conclusions.
Hope my advice helped you, good luck!

OMG, what was he thinking? It says everywhere to present the package to the officer on the border....
I think he needs to give it to the CBP officer on the border to be allowed in. I mean they kick up a fuss if the package is even a little torn/opened when presented to CBP, so to not even have the package with him..... I guess if you're lucky, they'll escort him down to the luggage area so he can retrieve his bag and the package and then bring him up for secondary screening. Hope it works out for you.

I agree you must research. I read everything I could find on the country, the customs, food....everything. Being a tourist and being with someone native to the country is different though. Yes, please make sure your fiance understand you and your family's concerns and he addresses them. My fiance still never leaves me there alone and I've been there 5x.

Funny how a governmental agency can have technical issues for weeks on end. Their IT people must be really sub-par. I don't think the IRS has any technical issues when it's trying to collect money from thousands of people.

    Hubby's feedback. We're sooo happy
My appt was for 10 am. My wife arrived in Lagos on Sunday to celebrate our anniversary and to accompany me to the interview.
I arrived at 8am. I walked in and met the security guards. I was asked to go outside to open my medical report.
My bag was searched then I was asked to sit in a sequential order. I waited about 5 hours to be called.
I walked up to the window of a nice Caucasian man i his 30s or so. He was super nice and even pronounced my difficult name correctly. I smiled.
I brought along with me mor photos, more chat logs, call records and huge rims of paper of chat logs from every app we used. Wifey said they already have tons of evidence and this was way too many papers but I was not taking any chances. I lugged everything but the kitchen sink with me. As soon as I walked up to his window he gave me back my photos that we sent at the USCIS and NVC stage without saying a word. At that point I got scared like omg why is he returning my photos,
He proceeded to ask me the following
    Questions asked
    1. What is your wife's name?
    2. How many children does she have from her previous marriage
    3. Have you been married before?
    4. What are the ages of her kids and their names?
    5. Interestingly enough he harbored on a few more questions pertaining to the oldest child which was ok sense I'm close with them.
    6. He mentioned when my wife got divorced.
Then he pulled out 2 papers in silence, then said mr victor U can pick Up your visa from this location on this paper next week!
    You're good to go!
I carried all the evidences back home. I tried to trick my wife outside but I couldn't hide my big smile!!!!
    Our anniversary is tomorrow!

You may be able to file an I-601, Application for Waiver of Grounds of Inadmissibility

I am so sorry this is your situation, but you guys didn't think this might be a possibility? You didn't know this might come up before going through the whole process?

I don't know how similar the background check for AOS is to the background check to naturalization but when I applied for citizenship one of the first questions the interviewer asked why I had been arrested 4 times. I am the BIGGEST scaredy cat and have never gotten in any trouble with the law but I was terrified based on how the guy said it. He basically called me a liar when I said I have never been arrested and told me he had my records.
I'm not sure what they pulled up but my traffic tickets came up as criminal offenses (1 speeding ticket, 3 proof of insurance/DL). Luckily I had printed off all traffic infractions plus my driving history as someone suggested on VJ so I showed it to him and he just altered his paperwork.
Again I have no idea if your situation is in any way comparable but this was my experience. I'd do exactly what the person above said- pull your own background check. i know my local PD does it in maybe a week. So I'd pull that to get started and also request the FBI one( saw somewhere it can take 11-13 weeks).
    Good Luck.

Shauna&Wael got a reaction from lmatos1978 in Will I be denied GC?
    Straight from USCIS:
"A person is subject to revocation of naturalization if he or she procured naturalization illegally. Procuring naturalization illegally simply means that the person was not eligible for naturalization in the first place. Accordingly, any eligibility requirement for naturalization that was not met can form the basis for an action to revoke the naturalization of a person. This includes the requirements of residence, physical presence, lawful admission for permanent residence, good moral character, and attachment to the U.S. Constitution. [1]

Discovery that a person failed to comply with any of the requirements for naturalization at the time the person became a U.S. citizen renders his or her naturalization illegally procured. This applies even if the person is innocent of any willful deception or misrepresentation. [2]"

I'm curious how your husband was even granted citizenship in the first place, because according to your timeline of events, he wasn't even eligible. I have a feeling that the interviewer asking all those questions about dates in your interview was NOT a good thing.

She may have questions about if he really qualified for citizenship due to a possible lack of good moral character. As others have said it's more him that should be concerned, not you.

    Juani,
aside from what everyone else wrote - it seems that your spouse has been filing taxes for both of you. This means he probably put you down as a dependent not employed so he could get more money back. I would contact the IRS and talk to someone about this. You know your social you can have them look into this.
I hope everything works out for you and even if you don't believe in divorce - it might be what is best with everything you wrote.
