You'll get a case number that will be assigned by NVC once your application is approved. Get the smart phone app, as it is a great tool to track your processing steps.

I think what you have described might be all marriages even USC to USC lol I wouldn't worry about it to much. Yes, some foreigners really think that money grows on trees here until they themselves come here. My fiance spoke in Edo sometimes with his family when I was there. I wwas like "oh but nooooooo baby" My fiance claims me to be the best non Nigerian Edo speaker. I am learning that language and Pigin was real easy for me to pick up. If he try to switch to Yoruba or Igbo, I will know that language too.
YEs, constantly trying to make you feel bad is normal with anyone who wants to borrow money even your own USC relatives. I wouldn't worry about it too much. Just politely say that you don't have it and let it be. You know that you aren't brain washing him so that is all that matters. In no time they will be harrassing you to have a baby and all will be forgotten.

Dohan reacted to LinJoe in how long does it take for the NVC process to complete
How fast NVC moves depends on how involved and proactive you want to be.
Once my petition was approved and I got the notification that it was sent to NVC, I started calling NVC 4 days later to see if they received it. Then kept calling to see if they had a case number for me. I was able to get my case and IIN exactly 1 week after they received my petition.....that's not the norm. most people do have to wait between 2-4 weeks to get it. I got lucky.
Once you get your case number and IIN you will be able to login to their CEAC website and submit DS-261 (Choice of Agent). the AOS fee usually takes about 24 hours after they assign the case number to show as payable.
Once you submit the DS-261, call NVC and ask them to review it over the phone. Make sure you get the NVC Welcome email first. I called them before i received the Welcome email and the first lady i spoke with said she couldn't review it because "it wasn't sent" to me yet....even though i completed it the night before and had a confirmation email. I guess it doesn't show in their system as completed until that welcome email is sent. The lady that i spoke with was encouraging about calling to get it reviewed. She said not everyone does it and it does save weeks of waiting. Once they approve the DS-261, about 24 hours later you'll see the IV fee available to pay. Once that's paid, give it about 1-3 days for the bank to clear it and you'll see the IV application unlocked. (That's where I am now)
As you can see from my timeline in my signature, i'm getting everything done in 1 week of receiving the case and IIN. I'm waiting for my husband's documents to reach me and will submit everything by Monday at the latest. Since NVC only needs photocopies, i would have submitted everything yesterday, but my husband didn't want to go to an internet cafe and scan everything for fear of his information not deleting permanently off those public computers.
I'm hoping to get a case complete by NVC by mid - end of March, if i'm lucky. that would be almost 2 months at NVC. Hopefully Mumbai will schedule an interview for April.
    Hope this helped! Good luck!

they are mainly concerned with most recent tax year, so if he is fine now, don't worry about 2013 so much. RFE didn't affect our EAD processing you can see the timeline

Alright if you make enough income why are you worrying about assets?
Assets supplement lack of income. You do not need both assets and income.

First do a mail forwarding request with USPS. They will forward all your mail for a year. Then fill change of address form AR-11 and file it with USCIS. Also call USCIS to notify them of the change of address.

You don't need to submit your educational/vocational certificates or diplomas. The key to approval of a fiance/fiancee petition is evidence that you have met in person and have an ongoing relationship. Proofs such as communication (facebook, whatsapp, viber, emails), copies of boarding passes when he came to visit you, are helpful. We also submitted copies of receipt of engagement rings (I bought one for him as well, under the Hindu tradition the man also wears one)
All the best in your journey!

If he has never flown before, it would be best if you could fly with him, or maybe a family member for his can come along? I know it's tough but he is moving his whole life and first time on a plane, even if the flight is direct and 7 hours it can be terrifying... just my 2 cents

I haven't followed the processing times lately, but at one point during our process couples were begging for an interview as those with an interview seemed to be getting their GC much faster than those that had interview waivers. it sounds like you have a great deal of information now showing a bonafide marriage, so bring it all for your interview. I would also suggest bringing updated tax information assuming you file prior to your interview date. Also it is a good idea to bring your entire file from the beginning as sometimes they ask for information that you may have in the copies of your initial submission.
Regardless, I wouldn't fret over an interview appointment. Good Luck!

Well, getting called in for an interview is generally a really good thing!
If you have already submitted all of your paperwork correctly, they are probably calling you in for your "final" interview where they make decision about granting a 2 year green card! Just be sure to bring lots of new photos, joint-account paperwork (if you have any more now) or any other proof of a bonifed marriage to the interview and that will help your case.
    Good luck!

If your husband has insurance through his job, marriage may be a qualifying life even to add a spouse without waiting until open season. Also some insurances cover a fiance 30 days before marriage. Review your husbands statement of benefit or call the insurance company to ask.

Not sure what you mean by 'luckily' you got married knowing what a fruit cake she is and that she abused you before marriage. What is so lucky
    about that ?

Next time she hits you call the police and fill out a police report. Have evidence of her abuse if you want to use the Vawa.

Dohan got a reaction from Amhara in How long until we can travel internationally after approval?
Just so you get the idea, it took us a month after hubby entered to get together the money for AOS and all the documents. He entered June 4, 2015, we got married June 11, 2015 and submitted AOS docs first week of July. We then had an RFE to which it took 2 weeks to respond and EAD/AP combo arrived September 8th about. Because I am nuts we had our wedding ceremony with guests and family September 27th, 2015. I had about 4 months to really plan and planning kicked into mad house the month before the wedding. IT IS WAY TOO INTENSE! It was beautiful and etc but way too tight of a schedule. Luckily he got his green card about second week of December so we got lucky and did not have to use the AP card at all when we traveled for, wait for it, a second wedding in India. lol Yes I know, madness. Our friends make fun of us saying we are married in every way possible
Give yourself at least 7 leisurely months to plan, believe me it will be worth it. That being said, I think it helped a lot with AOS that we submitted out save the date cards with the application and 2 months of bills, as well as credit cards in both names. We only got our joint bank account in October so we never submitted that evidence.
You can make save the date cards without putting an actual date : Save the date X and Y are getting married May 2017. We also submitted A LOT of photos with both sides of the family, about 20 for the AOS.

This is my personal experience but I wanted to travel ASAP after arriving here on my K1. Our plan was to file the OAS right away. In reality things took longer after I actually got here, like getting my social security number, getting married, getting my new social security number with my married name and then gathering at least some evidence like a joint bank account (which can't happen without the SS#) and joint car insurance, health plan, etc. I doubt you want to send the AOS in without any co-mingling info. It seems like USCIS puts a lot of weight towards financial proof as well.
I arrived last October and was finally able to file for my AOS the first week of January (took a bit to get the rest of the $1070 too). My estimated adjudicated date is April 2-10... so about 6 months after arriving assuming no RFEs or delays. Personally it's still too risky to plan for anything... who knows what delays will happen.
Perhaps plan a smaller honeymoon within the US then a bigger one after the AOS combo card.

He will be able to travel once he receives his advanced parole and he will get it in a combo card with his work authorization. The EAD/AP combo card will arrive in about 3 months after filing for AOS. His green card will take much much longer than 3 months to receive.
He needs to bring a copy of the EAD/AP combo card upon his return to the US. It would probably be best to also carry a copy of his marriage certificate and AOS receipt notice.

California is much faster than Vermont for regular ROC processing but I am not sure if two are different when it comes to adjudicating RFEs. There were some RFEs in May and April timelines, check those too but I didn't see anyone waited more than 1-2 months for RFE decision.

Do not listen to what people say. Each RFE is different, I've seen cases that got approved within days after responding to RFE. Check for instance March 2015 timelines for CSC RFE's. http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/538413-i-751-march-2015-filers/page-49
One of them waited 8 days but note that one waited 45 days, and one even got interviewed two months after responding to RFE. So each case is different but shouldn't take another 6 months. Good luck!
