JulieandDanny got a reaction from GreenPaddy in AOS from K1, Travel History Error
    Well here's some interesting info.
We called the CBP Houston office yesterday and finally got an officer on the phone.
He said this kind of thing is happening all the time as a side effect of the switch over to the electronic I-94... i.e. the return ticket being entered as a departure anyway rather than cancelled (often despite cancellation)
He said if we came there (an hour's drive) it could be easily fixed.
We got there and waited about 15 minutes to be seen within the walk-in times they have.
They quickly dismissed us. It was the same guy.
He said that they didn't need to change it because we didn't need to include the second page 'travel history'... He said that a lot of that would show up wrong and that 'they' wouldn't even look at that as it was a 'civilian system' and 'none of their business'
    i.e. not the official system.
I sure hope he didn't just shoo us out of there for something that WILL eventually become an issue...
He was highly irritable though and was being VERY officious/dismissive with everyone... we got out of there quick as we could but left wondering about the accuracy of his statements and whether we might have to return/ seek other recourse should the issue come up soon...
Regardless we mailed in our AOS with the Electronic I-94 page 1 only in all three instances (for AP and Ead)
    FINGERS CROSSED.
Thought the community might be interested to know about the waves the electronic switch seems to be making...

As stated, at this point there is nothing the airline can do for you. You would need to contact the nearest CBP Deferred Inspection office in order to get this resolved, as you are doing. They may be able to do it by phone / fax, or may require you to visit in-person.

    It doesn't matter at all.
    I arrived Oct 6th 2013.
My passport should have been stamped with Jan 3rd 2014 departure, but it was stamped with Jan 3rd 2013.
They put the wrong year meaning my passport kinda made me look like a 1 year overstay.
I just successfully AOS'd w/out being asked about it. Don't worry about it.

We have had reports here of flight manifests being wrong; even a few where the person's AOS was denied because a flight manifest said they had left when they hadn't (the people were able to overturn the denial based on error). I am sure it is exceedingly rare (and dangerous for security and other things) but it has happened.

If the issue is that you worry that the airline did not update the flight manifest and mistakenly recorded your exit, then this could have happened before electronic I-94s and you wouldn't know. You would still have filed AOS, and worst case, you would have been asked to show that you did not exit the country. I think this is a case of too much useless knowledge making people go on wild goose chases.
The issue to fix would be with the airline anyway, not CBP.
If it is just that the officer inputted the date wrong, then it is simple overstay, which is not a problem.

    Hi Derek
Thank you for you nice comment, all I ever try and do on here is help others less experienced than myself so that they do not fall foul of any pitfalls that they will encounter on the journey.
I am no expert, but I have studied everything we have been through since we started out journey some 2.5 years ago, we have been through the K1 route (Denied) Tried a K3 (Denied) it was changed to a CR-1 and a I-601 waiver submitted and only just recently has it been approved, so we have had quite a varied journey.
We fired our first lot of lawyers due to the lack of knowledge that they had in immigration matters, even though they called themselves Immigration Lawyers? they took our money and caused so many mistakes that it cost us time (about 1 year) and money ($2000).. We then found a better Lawyer whom has turned out OK, produced a very good I-601 Extreme Hardship Package, but ####### support and after care/customer service.
So we have had to learn everything about K1's, K3's CR-1's, IR-1's, I-601's, Extreme Hardship Waivers, Criminal Waivers etc etc.. over the last 2.5 years by finding answers on official websites, blogs, forums and of course asking our Lawyers so I think we have a good understanding of most of the spouse/fiancé visa systems now.
Anyway if we can be of any further help to you or your wife, just ask by private message or via the forum.
As for this thread, I am glad that you started it as others will have seen this and will have learnt from it, it is just a shame that some people are to easy to pick you up on small things and confuse the bigger picture of helping others, instead it turns in to a battle to see who has the most knowledge and to see who is right and who is wrong, personally I don't care about what others write, but I do have to reply when bad advice is being given that can create a major problem for the new people amongst us.
Technically I am wrong, just like anyone would be wrong if they broke the rules, lets take tax for instance.. if you stick to the official rules you must declare every bit of income including cash to the tax man and if you do not you could be imprisoned or have a large fine imposed.. but in reality both poor and rich alike bend the rules if they know they can get away with it and the tax man will not be able to find out. Well this is the same as that, I am wrong because I am stating that if a crime of some sort that you know of does not appear on your detailed police computer report "Subject Access" then why would you volunteer this information, as it could potentially make the total number of offenses enough to require you to obtain a waiver or may make you inadmissible all together.. if it not listed on your Subject Access report then it is not on the police database and can not come back to bite you later.. So you offer the USCIS all the listed crimes complete with court records and nothing more.
I hope this puts it to bed now, as I think your last post said it all.
    Take care
    Andrew

The London link to documents for interview is broken. This should be correct http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/474161-london-k1-a-complete-guide/
Scroll to fourth paragraph to find the list. You'll find the police certificate answer there too.

Ok, maybe you're not. Then again, maybe you are. Or maybe you aren't doing it at all.... which is still wrong.
Have you been looking at Igor's list trying to get an idea of how long your visa will take? That data is taken from the timelines other visa journey members take the time to fill out as their quest for a visa unfolds. This site is AMAZING and offers a lot of guidance and support that you won't get anywhere else, especially from USCIS. Don't just take, give back!
When you do update your timeline there are some things you can do to, well, not screw up.
    For example:
When you send in your application, please note that just because it goes to a Texas address does not mean you sent it to the Texas Service Center. It means you sent it to the Lewisville, TX lockbox where it will be sorted out and then sent to the appropriate service center. THIS IS NOT A TRANSFER. The same would apply to other lockboxes as well. This is a mistake that is easy to make if you aren't familiar with the process but it does a lot of damage to the credibility of the timelines, especially for those at the Texas Service Center.
Also, pay attention to the consulate you select. I see a lot of people that have their consulate listed as "Armenia" when they are not anywhere near there.
Lastly, just update your timeline! When you enter in your dates for RFE, NOA2, Interviews, approvals and anything else, it gives people with similar circumstances an idea of what they are in for. You know this process is daunting, frustrating, time consuming, and confusing.... wouldn't you appreciate and guidance and help other than a "general processing time estimate" that is not necessarily taking your details into account?
Unfortunately due to data entry mistakes, Igor's List has become less of a reliable resource for some of us and the time frame estimates on our own completed timelines is not accurate at all. These are great resources if we can get people to participate AND put in details correctly.
If you have questions on how to do it please ask in this thread! Somebody will gladly answer.
If you have more suggestions on how to fill out the timeline correctly so we can all make better use of these free tools VJ gives us, please add!

Yes i noticed that too... i wish there was a way those people could update where their cases are being counted more accurately and that they would only impact the CSC numbers on Igor's list once they are transferred like that... i'm sure it's screwing up all our timeline stats and messing with our heads at TSC!!

Who 'lives' in your household is not necessarily who is counted as your household. Your household means you and any dependants... so roomates or even other family members would not count as part of your household unless you claim them or they claim you for tax purposes... whether you physically live with them or not.

I posted this information on another section here and was advised that I should create another topic in this forum as well... and maybe get it pinned.

A lot of people that are moving here may have questions regarding their Health Care and what options they have.

I work for the Marketplace and thought I'd share some important links for you all to look through.

This is NOT for a political conversation, it is for people who are legitimately interested in what to do about health care.

    Who can use the Marketplace

    https://www.healthca...he-marketplace/

You have to be legally here. We will ask you for proof

Cost-Sharing (lowering out of pocket costs)

    https://www.healthca...f-pocket-costs/

Advance Premium Tax Credit (lowering your monthly premiums)

    https://www.healthca...nthly-premiums/

Estimate what you're plans could be

    https://www.healthca...mium-estimates/

Keep in mind some states have their own Marketplaces/Exchanges. If your state does, it will show you where to go

    Employer based coverage

    https://www.healthca...alth-insurance/

    How to apply

    https://www.healthca...place-coverage/

The website (as you most probably know) has glitches. It works perfectly for some and others are riddled with issues. I see improvements every day. If you have issues online, call and we'll do it for you right then and there.

Hope this helps you out a lil bit.

ahhh look here....this is something I wanted to know as well...referenced from the link above - https://www.healthcare.gov/what-do-immigrant-families-need-to-know/
"Applying for Medicaid or CHIP, or getting help with health insurance costs in the Marketplace, does not make someone a “public charge.” It will not affect someone’s chances of becoming a Lawful Permanent Resident or U.S. citizen. The one exception is for people receiving long-term care in an institution at government expense. These people may face barriers getting a green card."

    Welcome to the UK forum
Firstly, read this guide in full. It should answer most of your questions and give you an understanding of the process from start to finish: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/474161-london-k1-a-complete-guide/
Secondly, they didn't want to see ANY proof of relationship at my interview. Just the forms such as I-134 and the supporting evidence for that, police certificate, birth certificate etc. I took some proof of relationship just in case but it wasn't needed. That was all included in the initial petition so they already have a few bits and pieces to go by if they need to.

    To all you kind supporters:
Wow! Who knew anybody would miss me? I don't seek attention, controversy, or to be one of the popular kids. I just give from my heart to those I see struggling to be with their loved ones. For my entire life, if there is something I can do or share to help somebody, then I do it out of kindness.
I give hours daily to VJ because there is always just one more person who seems so sincere and needy that I hate to leave them hanging. So when I opened my iPad one evening to check on my people, I see I have been suspended for 24 hours. There is no reason why. I can't see anything...no threads, no mailbox, no profile, no click here. I was very deeply hurt by what felt like a kick in the teeth when I didn't do anything intentionally wrong. So I decided to move on. I don't fight back, and I don't play time-out games. I'm a volunteer. If it is hurtful, then walk away.
After maybe nine days away, I opened VJ again to check on progress of a couple of people I cared about. I had a PM from someone I was aware of as a regular that I don't normally interact with. It was about tax form 8938. So I replied that I was no longer posting on VJ, but if he still needed help I would be happy to discuss it by email. I guess he informed the UK posse. I didn't mean to cause a VJ bashing riot.
I want you to know that I have had very kind messages from the the Big Kahunas. They are caring people and provide an amazing service. As for me, this long period of not reading posts keeps my heart from being tugged. It's like going into Petco. If I don't go over to the cages of kitties up for adoption, then I am not tempted to bring one home. I just had a quick read of the UK forum, and there are many posts with incorrect info or uncertain replies that I could fine tune. You are correct that somebody with a six year history of a particular area has seen it all and can offer more than the blind leading the blind. But those people will work it out and get their visas, even it it takes a little longer, they make mistakes, or they stress a little more.
Meanwhile I have a long list of things to do for myself like finish clearing my desk so I can remember what color the wood is. Work is never as much fun for me as bringing comfort to a person in need, but I am going to give it a whirl and see how long I can stick to it.
    Thank you all so much.

This is appalling. Whilst I haven't really used the forum for visa advice as my K1 form-filling journey was fairly straightforward, I made a number of posts here enquiring about post-POE practicalities such as health insurance in MA etc. Despite the fact that Nich-Nick doesn't live anywhere near MA, they supplied me with as much information as possible, going out of their way to find answers. I don't blame them for leaving, why should they stay when this is the thanks they get for years of selflessness?
When you are part of a forum with people in love, people waiting, people on this journey to be united with their loved ones, emotions run high at all times. Solid and up-to-date advice is needed as opposed to frantic people perpetuating rumours and incorrect advice. Unfortunately, with members such as Nich and Lost leaving, we are being robbed of the former and overrun with the latter.

The integrity of the information may not be what gets people started here, but it's knowledgeable posters, especially those with the patience and perseverance to stay around a while, that keep people coming back, as they navigate their way through this process.
The subtitle in the banner at the top of the page reads "Your US Immigration Community". When we lose those posters willing to be an active part of helping the community, we run the risk of diminishing the usefulness of the site as a whole, as a wealth of experience from that member is lost.

It all boils down to money, or lack of it, not being the son of a billionaire, couldn't hop in my private jet and see her anytime I wanted to.
To get that money, had to take on extra jobs, not only working 16 hours a day, but also on weekends. Ha, told myself, was fat, dumb, and kind of happy before I met her. Not only a pile of it for our USCIS, they sure know how to rob us blind, we do all the work and give them a pile of forms to glance over, but also for their USCIS doctors that rob you blind to fill out a simple form.
But was even worse on her side with crooked judges and notaries to get the required documents we needed to make the USCIS happy. Without stipends to their Miami bank accounts, would take years to get anything done. Then plane tickets.
Our USCIS seems to be more honest in this respect, don't have anything like you may call and expedient fee. With them, you just have to wait your turn in line, and that line is very very long.
And when you make that extra money, the state and federal IRS, and FICA taxes want a huge chunk of it, none of this immigration stuff is tax deducible.
We were also in the same boat as anyone else, living from paycheck to paycheck, had to get our finances in order, get rid of debts, worthless junk we have accumulated realizing the only thing to true happiness was being together. Our entire life structure was altered. So we both had plenty of things to do while waiting.
Ha, was going through this right now, we both sat down and looked over all these Black Friday ads, no way did we want to wait in long lines in cold weather to get into a store. Just ordered one 80 buck item off the internet that we would use both together. When we first got married, wanted to keep her happy, so remodeled our home to her liking. But just purchased the materials and did all the work myself. Didn't go in further debt, we changed each others life.
Never believed in soulmates until I met her. For what we had to go through to be together was a lot of cooperation and hard work and wasn't fun dealing with the USCIS to be automatically guilty of fraud until we proved ourselves innocent.
If you truly want to be together, it takes plenty of hard work, money, and patience, and also lots of study, and both of you have to make this commitment if you really want to be together. We learned in this long process, we could work together, never an argument, but a serious discussion on solving problems, together. And both working hard to get there, together.
