Bridget ~ Steven reacted to Sharkano in how much relationship prove should i take to my interview
Most London interviews don't ask for much, but I have read a few folks who did get grilled more than normal. I am taking all the back-up I need. Why skimp out when you have put so much time and money and angst into this?

Bridget ~ Steven reacted to christeen in my son doesn't want to go to U.S without grandma
So you 67 year old mother is not wanting to move and in turn wants you to stay as well OR leave your 12 year old son behind. You 12 year old of course does not want to move (which I don't think it helps that grandma is supporting his disobedience)... This is your family and your happiness... You son is 12 years old, YOU make decisions... So if your fiancé is not willing to move there you either have to tell you son (and mother) too bad and you are going, leave your son behind or not marry the USC... But you have to take control of the situation and your life, not the 12 year old or the 67 year old...

Bridget ~ Steven reacted to kzielu in my son doesn't want to go to U.S without grandma
In 3 years you will be able to petition your mother - that's the immigration option you have available. Other than that, what advice are you asking for ?
You either take him with you or leave him with grandma, third option is you stay with them both, husband moves in with you.

Bridget ~ Steven reacted to Bugs in Decison denial (merged)
Your NOA1 date is past the two year requirement.
You met in person in June 2010.
Your NOA1 was in July 2012.
That's why.
Meet up again, then refile.

Bridget ~ Steven reacted to Jeanna in Impatiently waiting for NOA1 :( (merged)
Sorry but your post made me laugh a bit. It's a looong process and if 2 weeks gets you worried it's gonna be hard! Honestly, I'm saying this kindly. It is hard waiting but that is what you have to do. On the plus side, it seems to only be taking 3-4 months now before people are getting interviews; we waited 8 months this time! Best of luck!
-
Bridget ~ Steven reacted to Exocet in I cant wait anymore :( :(
We applied in Jan 2013 and are still waiting for the NOA2. Eventually you just become numb to it all. We have called USCIS, done infopass, contacted Congressman, all to no avail.
At some point you will stop checking VJ all the time because seeing people get approved who applied after you will make you insane with rage at the injustice of the system.
Oh wait.. you wanted something positive. Well, one day you will be together. Just hold onto that. It's what I do.. and somehow we haven't got divorced yet
Good luck.

Bridget ~ Steven reacted to Leo7777 in Why the Vitriol toward those who follow K-1 procedures.
I am relatively new here, but have noted the extreme vitriol directed toward those who are (or have) following the time consuming and lengthy process of the Fiance visa route.
These people are under the tremendous stress and heartbreak of being away from their loved ones during the process.
These persons see others who marry their loved ones while in USA on Student or Tourist visas.
Those following the K-1 route note that those who marry the students and tourists get to spend the AOS process IN THE COMPANY OF THEIR LOVED ONES, while they must be content with emails, phone calls, Skype and a possible expensive trip.
Surely the Student and Tourist visa marriages must understand the extreme asymptotic treatment that the K-1 folks are being subjected to compared to their own treatment.
And yet, when the K-1 folks advise the Student and Tourist marriages to return back home and do it the proper way . . . the Student and Tourist folks become enraged when it is suggested they undertake something as difficult and heart breaking as the K-1 folks are going through.
Sure, the Student and Tourist folks fall back on the idea that they had no 'prior intent.'
But we all know this is a load of hoooeeey in a percentage (neither I nor anyone else knows the percentage) of the cases.
What it seems to boil down to is this:
Those who can easily get tourist visa to come to USA, or who come from countries not needing a tourist visa; they take the tourist visa route to come to USA to marry their loved ones, and live together with their loved one while going through the AOS process.
Those who are in countries where it is difficult to get tourist visa to come to USA are forced to follow the K-1 route.
So is it asking too much that the privileged Tourist or Waiver folks who did, in fact, have prior intent show a HUGE amount of empathy for their K-1 brethern?
And isn't the empathy called for even from those folks who truly had no prior intent?
Sure, those with prior intent aren't going to admit that here . . . but can't the righteous indignation be toned down a bit?
Just asking.

Bridget ~ Steven reacted to Protocol417 in Process from NOA2 to Arrival in the US - Notes
Luckily it's a bit clearer and simpler now.
Two things to note:
- Notification of Applicant Readiness Form - not linked, but it can be found here: http://london.usembassy.gov/iv/notification_of_applicant_readiness_form.html
- Medical - They still have this as step three, but it seems it can be done concurrently with step 2. Many people do the medical before sending anything back to the embassy, but some have said that if the medical arrives before the paperwork it can confuse them and something might get lost. I'm not sure how much truth there is to that, though.
That said, the process so far still seems to be about the same as what is listed above, except for the DS forms. Oh, and when you call the NVC to get the LND#, you can ask for the beneficiary and invoice numbers then, too (this is needed for the DS260, if memory serves). We're still at step #6 though.

Bridget ~ Steven reacted to Lewis F in Quick question regarding the London interview.
I guess it varies depending on who you deal with, but when i was at window 1 in the embassy i was asked for a lot of financial support proof (tax return, letter of employment & I-134), when i got to the second window for the actual interview he didn't ask for any proof just questions about my relationship.
The way i see it is that this is a long and expensive journey and it is better to be over prepared, at least that way you won't make your journey any longer or more expensive.

Bridget ~ Steven got a reaction from JonathanC13 in Who is waiting for an interview date?
I figure this has to resolve at some point, just like the NOA2 and NVC issues did. Our NOA2 had so many quirky issues because of Vermont (bed bugs), transfers, etc and ours took quite a while to finally leave Texas for the NVC. When I look at other timelines I see someone with a NOA1 of May (ours was Jan) and interview/POE is already done. I'm guessing with the switch to electronic that this process will be faster for those coming along behind. It's one reason I find it so hard to read the regular K1 board. I'm happy their wait isn't as long, but frustrated that we apparantly hit the stupidest time to go through it. I really hope I'm not looking at another 5-6 weeks from yesterday.

Bridget ~ Steven reacted to Avery Cates in Quick question but important
It's my understanding that while you can request to change which embassy, it has to be in an embassy in a country which you legally reside, which makes sense, otherwise no one in Nigeria would go to their embassy for example. I believe you cannot just pick and choose which one willy nilly and will have to go back to your country for it.

Bridget ~ Steven reacted to chrisclassic in after marriage
you can't call him a bum when you dont know him
2 sides to every story
and a bum means he lazes around all day doing jack
him working his ### off for her to have money to enjoy america is not being a bum
he has to work on being with her more during his free time and being a better husband
and if she leaves him first go around without working hard to make changes with him
just goes to show all she wanted was a green card to america

Bridget ~ Steven reacted to Vanitas in London 2012- K1s from NOA2 to interview thread
Which is what I've been saying, as long as you have the stuff that's relevant for your time period of the process you should be fine. My stance on it though is to just be prepared in case they throw a curveball. There is one other positive change of this though - at least we'll have a DS-160 to show at the gate now in case people come up against that woman who yells at people for not having it or threatens to refuse entry to K1s for only having an appointment letter...

Why would a person ever marry someone like this?
She should go home and find someone else. This guy is a loser.

Bridget ~ Steven reacted to David & Diana R in denied fiance visa
This may not be a popular answer but...
Let me see if I understand you. You are pregnant, work two jobs and will eventually have to resign from one of the two jobs because your fiance made you pregnant. (Irresponsible fiance?) Your dad is going to sign up to be the co-sponsor because you don't make enough money to support your fiance even once he gets here. Your fiance smokes weed the day before his medical. (Irresponsible fiance?) Oh come on now, who doesn't know that drug tests will be conducted at the medical exam? Something just is not right here.
So here are my questions: Is your fiance working three jobs and supporting you? Are there any plans for him to do this?
He can afford to buy and smoke weed but you are struggling and can barely makes ends meet now. In fact, you can't even support him when he gets here and that's why your dad is going to be the co-sponsor. Are you sure you want to get yourself into this situation? Sure, you might love him but...think about it.
I am not being judgemental but...Just saying.
Aloha Ke Akua

Bridget ~ Steven reacted to fancygirl in Quick question regarding the London interview.
Yes, all your info that you have met in person, pictures of the two of you together in different cloths and locations. Boarding passes and hotel recepts etc. Evidence of a bonified relationship. Copies of the things you sent the first time. A timeline of the relationship is always nice. I made a small photo album of our trip together on snapfish. Something easy to flip through. The interview is all about establishing that you are in a real relationship.

Bridget ~ Steven reacted to bsp in what a horrible feeling knowing you will most likely be denied
What I actually meant was misrep is actually quite a high line to cross - i.e. what you did doesn't necessarily constitute a misrep given it wasn't deliberate or (presumably) done with the intention to obtain a visa benefit. Hope for the best, but start gathering whatever you need for a waiver in case things don't go the way you want.

Bridget ~ Steven reacted to BlovesD in Don't ever go K-1
I'm sorry but thats no excuse in my opinion to talk to other women...... you should ask him how he would feel if you were texting other men 'to see if you still got it'....ask him how that would make him feel.... im sorry your journey has been rough.... but in my opinion you should get out now... he's not going to be faithful or supportive... is that really who you want to be married to?? I think the love of your life is still out there....

Bridget ~ Steven reacted to nufcfc in List of Docs sent TO beneficiary to take to interview
I got my interview date 2 and a half weeks after my actual medical. had my medical on september 11 and my interview is oct 16. so you never know you might get it sooner than you think.

Bridget ~ Steven reacted to Kiwinyc in Something new to obsess about
lol i worried about mine too, because i got my photos done at a different place than my kids. My head in my pics looked proportionally outsized compared to theirs, but i checked it against the 'template' they have online and it seemed ok so i just went with it. There weren't any problems with any of them.
They go through their checklist at the Embassy to make sure you have all the right documents, but you're really not scrutinised in so much detail that they're measuring up your ID photos

Bridget ~ Steven reacted to cahrie99 in Visa Denied - US Consulate Mumbai
That's the part I struggle with the most, as long as all requirements are met and there are no negative strikes against the applicants (i.e. criminal activity, etc.) then I would think that based on the positive qualities would push that application through. Perhaps like you said, they had an issue with your previous marriage and the time-frames, hard to say unless they happen to tell you. Is marriage in India a possibility (in effect going through the CR1 route)?

Bridget ~ Steven reacted to John&Lena in What happens to the 'evidence' at/after the interview?
There's no need to be 'mean' here. I was just wondering since that part made no sense to me. I just had a question and as far as I know, we are all here to ask and answer those.

This thread is about how to lie about committing fraud and I think it should be closed as a violation of the TOS. Your "cold feet" story is a bold faced lie.
