Could it be because the "abuse" complaint is often abused? Often times the very person being accused of being an abuser is in fact the person that is being abused, sometimes physically and/or emotionally. Perhaps posters are sensitive to this because so many false cases of abuse are filed every year and unfortunatlely many are just plain baloney sausage.

David & Diana R reacted to Silentbeauty in N-400 denial because of immigration error!!!
This is my story.i got married in april 2009 filed for adjustment of status ,had my interview 4.20.2011.the Io that interviewed us was pretty mean but I brushed that off. he said he will approve the case.waited and waited no greencard, until 9 months later. on the greencard it says 4.20.2011,so I was thinking well he approved us that date and it took 9months for me to get it.i filed to remove the condition 90 days before it expires and I was granted the 10yrs greencard. I applied for my citizenship this year in june2013 and got an interview date for September 19,2013.ok so I was happy, went to the interview, waited over 2 hours, didnt bother me because they were behind and had computer issues.anyways my name was called and the lady said both me and husband and kids should all come in.went in the office, was there for about 20 minutes because they had more computer issues, the IO said they must have picked up the new system from a garage sale,i just laughed and waited for another 20minutes.anyways she asked my husband and I to stand and tswear ij etc. .she gave me the civic test and I answered the first 6 correctly and did the reading and writing correctly and she asked me questions on my application.everything went well at that moment, then she took my file up and she got quiet and said well this is why they pay me the big box to tell you this,i was like what is she talking about, anyways she said, well I have to deny your case, its not your fault but ours.on your greencard it says 4.20.2011 and I understand that you applied the time that you should BUT!!! the IO that interviewed you for your greencard was new and had no idea what he was doing so he forgot to put the 4.20.2011 date in your file on that date, instead he put the date in 9months later ,so therefore you applied for your citizenship 9months too early and because you removed your 2 year greencard conditional card the time you did, that was also early. I was shocked,i just started to cry.i mean they made the mistake and waited until I went for my citizenship to tell me this.she said that's how the system is they don't actually go through all the file until they reach the citizenship step.so I asked what do I do now,she said she doesn't know what to tell me but its not my fault and I would just have to sit and wait for a denial letter and refile for my greencard and citizenship!!! are you serious!! I came this far and have to redo my entire immigration process because of there mistake.she said well to make you feel better,he did this to couple hundred people!! .I don't know how that gonna make me feel better thou.so now am here not knowning what to do.i contacted lawyers and waiting for a call back.i don't have the offiical denial letter in hand,i checked online to see if they updated my case but they haven't, so depressing that they did this and wont fix it,ooh and to make matters worst,my husband told me he saw the guy that messed up my papers just sitting relaxing in his office.im so glad I didn't see him because I definitely would have a little chat with him.so pissed!!!

No, you have no open case if you entered on an IR-1 / CR-1. You will also not be adjusting status in 17 months but will instead be (presumably) filing for RoC; adjustment of status is something different.
In addition, any sponsors or joint sponsors who completed an I-864 and are also changing address are obligated to complete an I-865 within 30 days of moving.

Someone is being a fed a line of BS. Most likely YOU. Possibly US.
If the visa was denied she cannot interview again. The petition will be sent back to USCIS and you will be notified of the official reason for denial. It will NOT be because you are ugly.
    some possibilities...
    1. You are making this up for fun
    2. She is making it up because she does no twant to marry you, did not go to the interview and is feeding you BS
If you are not making this up, then you may want to check with the consulate and see if she even showed up for her interview

David & Diana R reacted to Angela256z in After marrying a US Citizen, can I stay in the US to live with him
My understanding is you have to go home. You can stay the allotted time you are allowed in the country, but you have to return home. You can file as a fiance if you are not married or you can file as a spouse if you get married. You can visit back and forth during the process, but only as you normally would. You don't want to overstay or you may have to submit a waiver which will delay you visa even more.

It's not much easier. You still have to wait. But, if he has deployment orders, you can very well make your application so that it can be expedited.
Just do all the research. Tell him not to be lazy and research, too. Well, i actually did all the research myself and just told my husband what to do and where to sign, haha. So, you should also start informing yourself. Start with the guides on here and the uscis.gov and state.gov sites

Okay, I'm gonna play devils advocate. Are you sure your "friend" is telling you the truth and nothing but the truth? It could be a cultural difference here. In the US most everyone I know that is married co-mingles their finances. That is to say both husband and wife have their paychecks depositied into a joint checking accoint. This is what the US government wants to see in fact. I have heard about spouses from abroad wanting to work and having "their own money" so they can send it home to their country. So where is "my own money"? My entire paycheck goes into the joint checking account. All the bills are paid by my income. So what ever happened to the co-mingaling of funds? Is this fair? Of course I do help my wife's family by sending them a monthly allowance but should we not do that together, as a couple? And as a matter of fact how did they survive before this foreignor married their daughter? Just saying, it works both ways, does it not?

It COULD be a lie. Could have been a scam all along I am afraid. I hope you have not sent her too much money. I have seen this happen before. A Filipina has a live in boyfriend and gets all kinds of fiancees on dating sites. She gets them sending money and taking care of her. Asking for money for shelter, food, school, etc... When you visited her did you suspect anything? It's also possible that an ex boyfriend just happend to pick up her phone and he figures he can eliminate you by telling you a lie. You MUST get ahold of her. But try to look at everthing that has transpired so far as if you are on the outside looking in with an open mind. Could it have been a scam all along or did things change, or is the guy answering the phone even involved with her/
So sorry, life must suck for you right now. I hope it all works out in the end. I have one positive thing to say and that is the are thousands of good girls in the Philippines that are serious about finding a spouse and they can be the greatest women on the planet due in part to their upbringing. So if this one was not the right one there are many more out there. I believe that all things happen for a reason and if she did scam you there is another girl out there that yoiu are supposed to meet.
    Good luck,

One thing I would recommend. Do not send a personal check. Much safer to send a postal money order or certified/cashiers check. Just a thought. Might not be necessary but it could takes a long time for a personal check to clear. Just a suggestion.

David & Diana R got a reaction from Boiler in MODERATORS MODERATE TOO MUCH???
I don't know about everyone else out there but I think some moderators take their power WAY TOO SERIOUSLY. I made a suggestion today to a fella that was asking about how his mother could sponser his spouse to come into the US even though his mother had been sick for six months last year and was unable to work. (Therefore his mother fell below US poverty guidelines.) He explained how he only made about 200 dollars last year. What the heck!? So I suggested in a nice way that perhaps HE should get a job and sponsor his wife. That maybe it was unfiar to burden his mother with this financial stress. And maybe he was not being fair to his spouse, bringine her into a situation of living below the poverty line here. And guess what?? As usual a higher than mighty moderator removed my comment from the thread saying it was not CONSTRUCTIVE. Hahaha, yeah I guess suggesting that someone actually get a job and work to support their own spouse is not constructive. Give me a break! Does anyone else here have similar experiences with moderators getting in t eh way of open opinion or suggestion?

I am so very sorry to hear this. So you are saying that the two of you have not met in person since 2009? That is the problem if that is the situation. You must have met in person within the previous two years....I am almost certain this is correct.

I'm sorry but I strongly disagree with you on this. What you are giving is in my humble opinion very dangerous advice. The guy she describes sounds very dangerous at this point. He has "STRANGLED HER" at least once she reports where she felt as if she was fgoint to pass out. This can cause lasting effects and of course even death. This person is DANGEROUS. Her having him arrested and put into "detention" and then bailing him out is a BIG MISTAKE. That reinforces that he has the power, not her. That she can't live without him. Giving him a red warning...very dangerous. I would never recommend this to any victim of abuse.
