Seems there are a lot of people trying to play around estimated time frames in order to plan a wedding when the process is not even half over. I understand it can be complicated when families are spread between two countries a half a world apart, but the simplest thing is to GET THE VISA first, then make plans. You have some 6 months after the visa is issued to use it. Then another 3 months to get married once she arrives. That should give you ample time to get a venue and make concrete plans. Too often something stupid happens and then everyone gets really stressed out and you really do not need to go there.

    WOOOOOOh. WE ARE APROVED!!!!!
I just received a text few minutes exactly 7p EST to check my case online as it has been updated. With trembling hands i signed in and almost had a heart attack when I saw we have been approved.
I have gotten comfort from this site and I hope we all will get some good news soonest.
I knew something was about to happen when I called USCIS last week and was informed our case was sent to the local office Nov 17th and then my case was 'touched ' few days ago.
This is close enough to the timeline estimate that had given me Dec 20-28 I think.
hang in there guys!!!!!! It is well.

Get out of there now. He has no right to threaten you or demean you. He would have a hell of a time trying to convince anyone that you have a sham marriage with how long you've been together and I'm sure they've seen bitter exes try that trick before.
Don't let your son see him speak to you that way or speak to him that way. Please leave.

Alright folks. Just wanted to drop by and let yinz know I have my plane tickets booked.
I'll leave Stockholm (Arlanda Airport) at 10:40 AM on Sunday, December 23rd.
POE will be at Newark. I have about a 2,5 hour layover. Fligth to Pittsburgh, PA leaves at 4:20 and arrives at Pixburgh In'ernashn'l Airport n'at at 5:46 PM. and the good thing is in case 2,5 hours isn't enough at Newark, there are two more flights to Pittsburgh that evening.
    That is all.

A note in the mail saying I have a package to retrieve? Hmm. Interesting.

Well, well, well, what do we have here? Doesn't this big brown envelope look familiar? "The United States of America Official Business". Hmm. That address, looks like my handwriting. Wonder what might be inside?
Lookie here. Another envelope that says "Do Not Open". And a plastic folder with a bunch of papers in it. Oh cool, the marriage certificate. Hmm. Now I know I've seen this before. Can it be? Yes, it's my passport.
Ah! So this is what a US immigrant visa looks like. Aw, how cute. An image of Abraham Lincoln. Howdy partner, maybe I'll see you soon.

IMO and some who have gone the K-1 path, find the 'benefits' of the spousal visa are well worth the time.

My husband arrived safe and sound yesterday in the US. He arrived in Boston and had a smooth POE, immigration asked a few short questions, took his fingerprints then sent him on his way, they were very kind to him. It was a long journey, and it's funny how quickly all of the stress and waiting was forgotten as soon as set foot in America. Thanks again for all of the help and words of encouragement from the people in this group along the way. No more immigration for 2 years until we have to remove conditions. YAY!!!!!!!

So much ####### in this post reply
~"the less you care the more the girl will want you." This is juvenile advice. If you are looking to have a sincere lasting relationship with a true connection to a woman don't follow that advice. If you are looking to play games and get laid by girls with low self esteem then go for it!
~"you should have a minimum of 100 relationships before you consider getting married" I'm 31 and have dated a lot and am nowhere near 100 relationship. That's completely absurd. I whole heartedly believe you will learn more about yourself and what you are looking for in a few long term committed relationships then 100 meaningless flings (because at a number that large, that's all they are).
~"File for divorce and head back to Philippines for the next one." Really?! You make it sounds like picking up a wife is akin to picking up a new weed whacker at Wal-Mart. If you meet someone overseas that is one thing, but looking at the Philippines as a place to serial hook one wife after another until you find something that pleases you is another.
    Sheesh....

woke up early this morning to a text saying case updated. thought it would say approved or RFE or sumthing so rushed over to my computer and check the status and there it was.
couple weeks past my 5month mark I was starting to get abit worried....
I sent in a service request last week and also contact tier 2 associate per darnell advise. not sure how much those things helped my case but needless to say I am so very happy right now!
thanks everyone who assisted me thus far especially Darnell. hope the rest of the process goes smoothly.
and everyone waiting am sure you will get your approval soon. I know these past few weeks I was going abit crazy but turns out everything ok so be patient and wait for the good news.

People should not have to update their timelines is silence.
I can't believe how rude some people are being.
Yes, it sucks when someone else gets approved very quickly and you've been sitting here for months and months. Nobody likes that feeling. But that unfairness is all on USCIS, there's no need for VJ to take out their frustration on the member themselves. Remember there are actual people behind these screen names with actual lives and actual relationships. They want to be with their loved ones just as much as you do.
To make them feel BAD about their progress is not the purpose of VJ. We're all here to support each other through this, not to shun the people who happened to get their approval faster than you did.
If it bothers you, stay out of the progress reports. If it makes you bitter, that's your problem, not the person posting the threads.

I cant believe some of the post I'm reading here! Is really unfair! If somebody is approved after 300 days they DO have the right to post and celebrate ??? But if someone was approved in 40 days then he/she DOESN'T has the right to do it? EVERYBODY in here HAVE THE RIGHT TO CELEBRATE THEIR APPROVALS!!! That's why this site was created it for TO HELP and SUPPORT people in the bad times but also in the GOOD ones also! I know that the waiting is awful but that doesn't mean you should act like a bunch of haters, cause if one of u were approved in 40 days you weren't be that mad, uh? So after saying this, CONGRATULATIONS sweetheart hoping your journey will be this smooth and quick....

Try to run, try to hide - break on through to the other side!
"Your visa application has been approved. Congratulations."
I think that was what the lady told me. When she got to that part, I kinda blacked out. I was in disbelief. "What did she say?" I thought to myself. I was tearing up. She said something like "you'll have your passport back in the mail within two weeks". I almost wanted to go back and ask her "Approved? Are you sure?" I wasn't sure I'd heard it right. But I thought to myself that she probably wouldn't have said "congratulations" if she'd denied me.
So... Yeah. There it is. It still hasn't sunk in yet. I think it will take at least a couple of days before I realize that it wasn't just a dream. When I was riding on the bus back into downtown Stockholm I thought something like "That was it? It's over?" It felt surreal.
I'm going to try to sum up my experience, but I only got home about an hour ago after a long day and a long afternoon/evening/night yesterday, so I need to gather my thoughts, so I will get back to you on that a little later.
