When was the conviction.
Usually you would need to wait at least 5 years from that date before being eligible to naturalise.
Do you have any other issues?

him4life got a reaction from seth2013 in New Member, very nervous, I751 Interview requested
Don't jump for a divorce in a hurry, maybe one day you and your wife will work it out, just go to the interview as a married couple, let them know she moved to attend school, and you stayed Becuz of work, they might have noticed that your wife social security is registered working in a different state, just explain things, don't run gettin a divorce just to file roc, people work things out all the time, you might never know

because your marriage didnt work that does not make it fraud, and besides we have not heard the other side of the story, sometimes immigrants married US citizens who ends up being crazy and controlling, the immigrant has no choice but to leave the crazy spouse and run for their life after they get greencard

him4life got a reaction from NikLR in dragging feet to come to the US
i thought it was the opposite way, usually its the US spouse that sends money to the person they sponsoring, since conditions in their home countries are harsher than the US, if you are looking for someone to pay your school fee and bills, then this man is not the man for you, i suggest u give him an ultimatum about the divorce, and see what he has to say, if he does not shake up his attitude and act like he dont care, then there is your answer, i suggest u find yourself someone who is in a good job here in the US and is willing to provide for you, and love u the way you are
good luck!

I agree with bebero, Sorry rkk1, But you need to grow up and take care of yourself like adults do. Get a part-time job, pay for your expenses.
It appears to me that you married for wrong reasons. For future ref : MARRY for LOVE and Nothing else. When you have love , everything else just falls in place.

He is a good guy. This is a cultural issue. So what if he wants to help his family out if he gets extra money? This seems to offend you alot. What is funny is that you are quite suprised by this. Were you born in USA? OP get over it or please leave him alone in India where he will at least be happy with his business and his parents. That will be a great solution for everyone. You need to find someone who will pay your school fees and also be willing to adopt children and live your dreams. good luck.

I think you're missing a few steps in the whole grand picture.
Firstly, if he's taking care of his family/parents, taking them to medical appointments etc., I'm somewhat sure that he will be missed when leaving. He won't be around when they need help and can't just up and leave the US. It's a sacrifice for anyone overseas. You have to understand that before pushing him.
You were the one who chose to study. Unless he was your spouse when you made the choice and unless you arranged that he'd provide for you, then IMO, you can't really expect him to have ONE income and pay for TWO households with less income than what had been the case had his salery been according to US standards.
He's paying for all the papers, documents, visa process or you are? And is he the sole provider for his parents?
I'm not trying to be harsh - dragging the process out for several months is not okay and he - of all people - needs to know that. But imagine you were providing for your parents and you had a company and on top of that, you had to take care of everything plus starting up in a new country. It's all about perspective.
My personal thoughts before leaving was being excited about leaving and sad about leaving at the same time.

I applied and was granted Pregnancy CHIP in Texas (it's like Medicaid, but is state-funded). It covers all my prenatal care. For the actual labor & delivery I'll have to apply for emergency Medicaid.
As per USCIS http://www.uscis.gov/portal/site/uscis/menuitem.eb1d4c2a3e5b9ac89243c6a7543f6d1a/?vgnextoid=829b0a5659083210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD&vgnextchannel=829b0a5659083210VgnVCM100000082ca60aRCRD
Q. What publicly funded benefits may not be considered for public charge purposes?
A. Non-cash benefits (other than institutionalization for long-term care) are generally not taken into account for purposes of a public charge determination.
Special-purpose cash assistance is also generally not taken into account for purposes of public charge determination.
Non-cash or special-purpose cash benefits are generally supplemental in nature and do not make a person primarily dependent on the government for subsistence. Therefore, past, current, or future receipt of these benefits do not impact a public charge determination. Non-cash or special purpose cash benefits that are not considered for public charge purposes include:
Medicaid and other health insurance and health services (including public assistance for immunizations and for testing and treatment of symptoms of communicable diseases; use of health clinics, short-term rehabilitation services, and emergency medical services) other than support for long-term institutional care
Children's Health Insurance Program (CHIP)
Nutrition programs, including Food Stamps, the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC), the National School Lunch and School Breakfast Program, and other supplementary and emergency food assistance programs
Housing benefits
Child care services
Energy assistance, such as the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program (LIHEAP)
Emergency disaster relief
Foster care and adoption assistance
Educational assistance (such as attending public school), including benefits under the Head Start Act and aid for elementary, secondary, or higher education
Job training programs
In-kind, community-based programs, services, or assistance (such as soup kitchens, crisis counseling and intervention, and short-term shelter)
State and local programs that are similar to the federal programs listed above are also generally not considered for public charge purposes. Please be aware that states may adopt different names for the same or similar publicly funded programs. It is the underlying nature of the program, not the name adopted in a particular state, which determines whether or not it should be considered for public charge purposes. In California, for example, Medicaid is called "Medi-Cal" and CHIP is called "Healthy Families." These benefits are not considered for public charge purposes.
In addition, and consistent with existing practice, cash payments that have been earned, such as Title II Social Security benefits, government pensions, and veterans' benefits, among other forms of earned benefits, do not support a public charge determination. Unemployment compensation is also not considered for public charge purposes.
