My I130 was approved on 3/23 (three days before yours). My case is still not at the NVC. after 15 business days NVC told me to send my notice to nvcresearch@state.gov and after a week they sent me an update that the case is still with USCIS. They said it could take 4-8 weeks to receive it. USCIS has been really unhelpful and rude, NVC at least gives me straight answers. I guess I am in the same boat. I don't know what else I can do. My congressman has nto responded yet.

    USCIS. Get a Tier 2 human (see ISO - http://www.dhs.gov/files/publications/gc_1305658440339.shtm )
    then, get an ISO.
then , once you've GOTTEN an ISO (that bit was important)
ask them where the casefile is.
Be adamant about NOT setting up a service request - as this will waste further time and really isn't useful.
Instead, tell the ISO that the casefile has been approved for (x months) and there's no indication that NVC has received it, and that YOUR PRIMARY CONCERN is that it's still sitting on the adjudicators desk,
    and then...
ask the ISO to send a request to the ADJUDICATOR to bundle up the casefile to go to NVC.
Then call back in 2 days, see what's what. If still no movement outta USCIS, then get an ISO again, and ask the ISO to get to the Adjudicator's Boss, telling them that the casefile was lost by the adjudicator.
    Good Luck !

Frank, I am sorry. Please remove the block on my case so that it shows up in the system. I know after I made fun of you on Friday you plugged yourself in to the computers like R2-D2 and did something to hide my file. I am sorry I take that all back. You are wonderful! I am sure Mrs. Frank thinks you are wonderful too!

I thought I would be done waiting once I got my NOA2. It has been 3 weeks since and still nothing has happened. It hasn't even arrived at NVC yet. So don't be disheartened by the wait and probably by the time you get to NVC things will be running quicker again there and you don't have to go through the waits people are experiencing waiting for new fees to come in to effect, changes in the invoicing system and all that and you should have a quicker time. So stay positive.

I think this thread is more helpful as you can ask questions and get quick answers and they don't get drowned in a see of off-topic posts which makes finding your answers really hard.

I understand everyone is frustrated and tired of this waiting process. However it seems like you come here seeking validation of what you believe to be the right course of action and then when people advise you to the contrary you argue with them and you just come across as unwilling to accept the advise. Which is perfectly fine, this is just a forum and no one is bound to following any advice from anyone.
What you must understand though is what is at stake here. We are in a process where we are waiting to be re-united with our loved ones and our lives are on hold until then. And standing between us is an agency that has assumed that every case is to be treated with suspicion unless proven otherwise. There are people who will be handing out their judgement only based on their opinions without any accountability. Therefore you cannot just assume that since you are right and you believe that tehre is nothing really to prove that everything will be fine. You have to prepare an argument to prove that your relationship is bonafide, that there is not any fraud and the burden of proof is completly upon you to provide. I would not take anything lightly in this process and leave it so that a reasonable person will understand the situation and rule in my favor.
Similarly, no person in regular society will be able to help you much in this process unless they are familiar with the whole immigration process. since this is uncommon for the majority of people, you need to seek advice from people who have gone through this process themselves and are familiar with it or those who handle cases for people in this situation everyday and are familiar with it. You won't believe how many lawyers I have come in to contact with who claim to know the process and have given out wrong advice. Be careful in who you seek advice from as there is a lot at stake here. But the first premise here is that when it comes to immigration, we have to abandon the concept of innocent until proven guilty, we have to do the opposite and prove our innocence. With that mindset, I am sure each one of us will prepare to the best of our abilities and will leave no stone unturned and even if a process takes more effort but is safer in the eyes of the CO, it is really worth it.
Don't just follow the advice of those who follow shortcuts. That is like someone saying hey you can shoplift from this store because there are no cameras. See I did it andI got this and that. Who knows that when you try if you will be as fortunate as that person or not.
I really value the opinion of people here a lot as they have gone through the process and know it inside out. I would actually follow the advice Saylin gives me over what the agents at NVC or USCIS give me because she does in fact know more than even those who answer the phone.

MCMLXXXII reacted to Saylin in Montreal Consulate Pictures/Maps
    Hi everyone!

So, back when I was waiting for my interview, I was looking around here for pictures of the consulate, specifically a drawing of the inside, so I would know what to expect. Well, all I found was this old thread with pictures of the outside (http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/103460-montreal-united-states-embassy/ ). Then, last April (2011), when I went to pick up my medical results at Medisys, I decided to stop by the consulate to see it for myself as well as take a few pictures on my smartphone (blog post with pictures here: http://journeythroughimmigration.blogspot.com/2011/04/us-consulate-in-montreal.html )

Recently, a VJ member has been messaging me about where to line up exactly outside for the interview. So, I decided it was time to get out Paint ( ) and have some fun. I took three pictures and put in some markings of exactly where to stand for the line outside the consulate. I then hand-drew some pictures of the INSIDE of the consulate. That blog post can be found here: http://journeythroughimmigration.blogspot.com/2012/03/consulate-maps.html

And for those of you that are lazy () and don't want to click the last link, I'll post the maps/drawings here:

The main street (running ~ north/south) is Rene Levesque. They have doors on that side, but those aren't the ones you want. On Saint Alexandre (running ~ west/east) are the doors where you want to line up. The 1 is where the first person would be, 2 where the second person would be, 3 where the third person would be, etc. So, when facing the doors, the line extends to the left.

A closer view of the consulate. Again, 1 is where the first person is, 2 where the second person, etc etc.

Front view. Numbers again are for the line, leading off to the left. Stand as close as possible to 1 and the doors.

This is the first part of the consulate, entering through the doors at 1. You then move through a security checkpoint and through a scanner, at 2. You're then directed down a long staircase, at 3. You arrive in a large room, at 4, with a telephone, picture booth, and lots of chairs surrounding the elevator. At 5 is the elevator. When you enter, stand at the far left corner, marked by the X.

View of top floor where the documents are handed in and interview takes place. You enter by the elevator at 1. The secretary is there to greet you and show you where to line up (follow red arrows). At 2, you'll one by one go up to a window where you get a number (C1 means you're first). EDIT 4/27/15: I have just heard that you don't go to spot 2 anymore. You get your number right at the secretary's desk when you get off the elevator. You then sit down in one of the chairs. At 3, you hand in all documents (AOS package, certificates, medical results, etc). You also get your fingerprints done here. After sitting back down, you'll then be called to one of the interview rooms at 4. Once all finished, you leave back through the elevator and out the consulate.

P.S. I was going to include ALL the pictures (including the ones I found and took) in this one post, but apparently there's a maximum of 5 photos per post So, if you want to see the others, you'll have to click on the above links

Anyways, that's all folks! Hope this post (specifically the hand-drawn pictures) helps those going to have interviews in Montreal.

Upon suggestion of a VJ member (thanks foobaz123), I have decided to create a FAQ of the most common questions I see here on VJ concerning the NVC process. If you know of a common question that isn't mentioned here, please inform me through a reply in this thread or PM me. I'd be more than happy to include it here.

    FAQ

How long does it take to get a case number assigned after NOA2?
As of recently, it's been taking ~3-4 weeks. Check my spreadsheet (linked in post 1) to see where NVC is currently assigning case numbers.
When (and how often) should I start calling NVC about the case number?
Wait a week from your NOA2 date, then start calling. And call every single day afterwards until you get it.
Will I receive XXXX (initial information package, invoices, instructions, interview letter, etc) by email or snail mail?
As long as you give over the email addresses of both the petitioner and beneficiary (once you have a case number), ALL correspondence from NVC will be sent through email.
What do I do after my case number is assigned?
Get the IIN from an operator (ask for the 'Invoice Identification Number', not IIN). Give over the email addresses of the beneficiary and petitioner. Email the DS-3032 (from the beneficiary's email address) following the template linked above.
When can I email the DS-3032?
Right after you get your case number. There's a chance it could get rejected (because they got to your email before they're ready to take documents), but if that's the case, just re-send it. On the flip side, there's also a chance it could get accepted and you wouldn't have wasted any time.
Note: if you have a lawyer, they're already designated as agent due to the G-28 included in the I-130 package, so no need to send the DS-3032, unless you fire your lawyer.
Note: if doing online forms (check link above for eligibility), then fill out the DS-261 found online at the above link. Do NOT send the DS-3032.
I got an email from NVC that contains a bar-coded DS-3032 (along with other information). Do I re-send the DS-3032?
NO. Do NOT email another DS-3032. NVC automatically generates these emails and do not care if you've already sent in a DS-3032 or not; they include a DS-3032 anyways. Only if NVC responds to your first DS-3032 with a rejection do you send another one.
After the case number is assigned, how long does it take for the AOS bill to be invoiced?
    Usually just a few days.
How much are the two bills? And how do I pay them?
The AOS costs $88 (per case) and the IV is $404 (per person). They have to be paid with a US banking account on the payment portal (site linked in first post). See information here: http://travel.state..../info_3906.html If you can't or don't want to pay online, here's a link to how to pay through the mail: http://travel.state..../info_3905.html .
Help! I can't sign into the payment portal. Why?
If you're getting an error message ("Please be advised that the case that you have attempted to access is not eligible for further processing by the National Visa Center at this time…" or "This case is in the process of termination. Fee payments and online forms can no longer be accepted…" or "You cannot make online payments for your case at this time. Please contact the NVC if you have questions or need further information."), do NOT panic. This is actually good news! If you just got your case number, then this message means NVC is inputting your case in their system. If you get this message a few days after case number generation, then it's a good possibility that NVC is invoicing your AOS bill. And if this message appears a few days after DS-3032 acceptance, then there's a good chance the IV bill is being invoiced. And finally, if this message is appearing a few days or more after NVC received your packages, this is a good indication of case complete at NVC!
What is needed in the AOS package?
    Generally, the following is needed:
    With no joint sponsors:
    - Bar-coded cover sheet from payment portal
    - Cover letter (optional)
    - Completed, signed, and dated I-864 form by petitioner
    - Tax information* of petitioner (either just the last year OR the last 3 years)
    - Employment letter of petitioner (optional, but good proof of CURRENT income)
    - Pay stub(s) of petitioner (optional, but good proof of CURRENT income)
    With joint sponsors:
    - All of the above of the petitioner
    - Completed, signed, and dated I-864 of joint sponsor
    - Tax information* of joint sponsor (either just the last year OR the last 3 years)
    - Proof of US citizenship/residency of joint sponsor (ex: copy of US passport, US birth certificate, US naturalization certificate, or front & back of green card)
    - Employment letter of joint sponsor (optional, but good proof of CURRENT income)
    - Pay stub(s) of joint sponsor (optional, but good proof of CURRENT income)
If the joint sponsor is a household/family member, also include proof of that relationship (example: if a parent is a joint sponsor, include the petitioner's birth certificate with parents' name on it to show link).
*You have two choices here of what to send in:
    - Tax return transcripts ordered from IRS (preferred by NVC and of most consulates/embassies) RECOMMENDED
    OR
    - Tax returns (1040) and W2s and any other schedules (if applicable)
What if I (the petitioner) live with my spouse in their foreign country? Do I need to include anything in either package?
You'll need to provide proof of US domicile with the AOS package, as well as bring it with you to the interview. Please read the I-864 instructions (pages 5 and 6) for information about it. This is NOT needed if the petitioner is living in the US. Here is a sample cover letter to include in the package (it lists MANY possible documents, some may not be applicable of course, to prove that you have, or will re-establish, domicile in the US):
    NAME

When does the IV bill get invoiced?
After you send the DS-3032, NVC will most likely respond in a few days with an acceptance email (or rejection). A few days after acceptance, the IV bill will be invoiced.
What is needed in the IV package?
    Generally, the following is needed:
    - Bar-coded cover sheet from payment portal
    - Completed, signed, and dated DS-230 form by beneficiary (do NOT sign or date part 2; this is done at the interview) [note: if doing online forms (DS-260), the DS-230 is obviously not needed]
    - Two passport-style photographs (2" x 2") of beneficiary (on the back, write: beneficiary's full name, date of birth, and case number)
    - Copy of bio-data page of beneficiary's unexpired passport
    - Original or Certified Copy of beneficiary's birth certificate, PLUS A PHOTOCOPY
    - Original or Certified Copy of marriage certificate, PLUS A PHOTOCOPY
    - Original police certificate(s)
Please read: http://travel.state..../info_3195.html for additional documents if applicable.
Also read the country-specific documents linked in the first post. There may be additional documents needed not listed above.
If my documents are not in English, do they need to be translated?
    NVC's website states:
"All documents not written in English, or in the official language of the country in which application for a visa is being made, must be accompanied by certified translations and submitted to the NVC. The translation must include a statement signed by the translator stating that the:
    -Translation is accurate, and
    -Translator is competent to translate."
Despite this, I have seen cases of people getting checklists for not having translations of non-English documents. I'd suggest you get everything translated anyways to be on the safe side. It's not needed, but highly recommended.
How long does it take for a bill to appear as PAID in the payment portal after paying it?
Usually just a day or two.
Do I have to wait for NVC to email me instructions before mailing packages?
NO. If you wait on NVC for this, it can take WEEKS to get anything from them. As long as the respective bill appears as PAID in the payment portal, you can send in your package.
What address do I send the AOS and IV packages?
You will find their addresses on their respective bar-coded cover sheets, which are printed off the payment portal.
Can the packages be sent from abroad or does it have to be from within the US?
Doesn't matter where the package is sent from; NVC just needs to receive it.
Do the packages have to be sent separately or can they be sent together?
Either one or the other works. Again, as long as NVC receives both needed packages, they don't really care. Each way has their pros and cons.
After sending in the packages, how long does it take to get a case complete?
Lately, it's been taking just a few days to a week after the last package is received.
Do I get an email if my packages have been accepted?
No, not that I have seen. You have to call NVC every day and ask for updates on your case to find out if a package has been reviewed and accepted.
Do I get an email when my case is completed?
Generally, no. Only those doing EP (electronic processing) get the case complete emails. There are some non-EP folk that get case complete emails, but it's rare. Again, to find out if your case is complete, call an operator at NVC and ask.
After the case is completed, what happens?
In most cases: the case is put in a queue to get an interview date scheduled. Once an interview date is scheduled, the case is shipped out to the consulate/embassy.
Who should I be calling to find out my interview date?
You should be calling both NVC and DOS. Both have access to your case information. Their numbers are linked above.
How long does it take to get an interview date after a case complete?
This varies by country and consulate/embassy. Some people find out within a day or two, others a few weeks, then the few unfortunate that wait a few months (ex: Ghana). To get the best estimate for YOUR country is to search, using the timeline feature, when others got case completes and when they got their interview dates scheduled.
When do interview dates get scheduled?
If you talk to operators at NVC, they'll always tell you they ONLY schedule during the second week of each month. This is a LIE. They schedule interviews ALL month long. Many people (like myself) have gotten scheduled during the last week of the month. I repeat, they schedule ALL month long.
How long does it take for NVC to mail my case out after getting an interview date scheduled?
Usually it's the next day, but it can take up to a week or more in rare cases.
    -------------------------------------------------------
Please note: the above time frames are just estimates. Do NOT freak out if your case takes a little bit longer. The time frames are constantly changing. They also depend on NVC's work load for that day/week.
    -------------------------------------------------------
    Summary of NVC process:
    - get case number and IIN, give email addresses over
    - email the DS-3032
    - pay the AOS bill, once it's invoiced
    - once the bill appears as PAID, mail the AOS package
    - pay the IV bill, once it's invoiced
    - once the bill appears as PAID, mail the IV package
    - respond to any checklists, if applicable
    - get case complete
    - get interview date scheduled

I think he is referring to the email address. The address had something like need love in it and the CO thinks that the email account was created just so he could find a US fiancee. Add this to the fact that OP has already gown down the K1 route before with another USC, the CO feels the main objective of the OP is to get to the US. This is why there is lack of evidence for bonafide relationship.

I have no idea what you should or shouldn't do. I do, however, think you put your wife in a position where nothing she could do would satisfy you.
You required that she be honest in the beginning; but you admit that if she had been honest, then you wouldn't have married her. Now that she is being honest, you want to leave her.
Maybe honesty isn't really what you were looking for in a wife.

First we need to put the relationship in the proper context of an Arranged Marriage.
They did not date for any period of time and therefore neither can really say they loved the other before the marriage.
He asked for honesty and she was scared (possibly even at the instance of her parents) that she is "soiled goods" and if he knew the truth he would just walk away from her. It was wrong for her to lie to him but let's be honest how many of us tell someone everything about ourselves within the time-span of days after the first meeting/date?
We usually wait until there has been some relationship building and bonding, then we find a point and sit down to get the dirty laundry out in the open.
I agree that she's dumped a lot on him an I'd even go so far as to say that it's unfair but really that's life...
Apparently he has a past of his own and she was accepting of that. Kudos to him for being honest but isn't Indian Culture on that is more forgiving to men than women?
Would I vilify him for deciding to leave her, nope not even a little bit.
Would I applaud her for deciding that she needs to be honest with him (even if it is a bit late), sure I would. I would agree that she really could have continued the lie but she made what must have been a scary and difficult decision for her.
The question is now that the truth is out can he look beyond her past and she the woman she is?

You might be grossly mistaken if you make that assumption. The cost of living in the US is very high and even if you had a job, it can prove to be difficult to support the high cost of living. It might seem like coming to the US migh solve all your problems and you will have a better life than in Egypt but before you come, I would advise you answer the following question foremost: How difficult will it be for me to find a decent paying job to support my family? To answer this question, it might be advisable to search for jobs already while you are still in Egypt and this might also be able to answer your question of how to get there if the company might be willing to sponsor you for a work visa.
Sure you could go the illegal route. But I have met many illegals here and they will tell you the same thing they tell me, life as an illegal immigrant is not worth it here. Look at all you will be givingup, the chance to ever go back home, visit your families. And it will be very difficult for you to live a normal life here and you will always be looking over your shoulders.

Not sure on the first time, but the second time, you either missunderstood something or your hubby is not telling the truth. There is a spousal visa for less than two years, the CR-1, and for more than 2 years, the IR-1; the process is exactly the same, the only difference is the one letter in your visa in your passport.
When was your visa supposedly denied? Ie at interview, or by letter? There is no such thing as denial by phone call.

First time in my life I'd disagreed with TBoneTX. I think he is exactly wrong and troutcat is exactly right. At the end of the day, however, none of our opinions matter at all: either you're going to forgive this woman about not telling you her whole sexual history before you entered into an arraigned marriage with her, or you're not. You're an adult, you figure it out. Forget about the whole "I'm-going-to-get-her-deported-out-of-spite" nonsense.

wow, I was all for "he should leave this lady", but you made an incredible point. We can't look at this as two people who fell in love and decided to get married. It was arranged. The one thing I was upset about, was the OP has a point about her breaking up with her bf just 2 days before marriage. That has GOT to hurt. He is right, nobody can get over anyone in just 2 days. While you make a great point, I also don't think he needs to sacrifice his beliefs and happiness just to protect her from her own web she weaved herself. Maybe she did trust him enough at this point, but threatening the suicide thing?? That is emotional blackmail. You can't force someone to stay with you because you threaten to hurt yourself. Actually, you should notify a family member you trust, and probably get her to a hospital for some evaluations. Suicide is not to be taken lightly. OP, I wish you good luck, I don't know what I would do in your situation. Maybe give it some time. What I do know is, she sounds a bit unstable if she is threatening suicide. If things go down hill from here, I would not spend ANY time alone with her, for she could later say you were abusing her or something. Protect yourself, and I hope you can find clarity.
Also, getting him to divorce her would probably look better for her because if it was the other way, she would be in trouble with her family. I think I will stick with my original thought, I'm not sure much good can come from this

It was an arranged marriage, what did you expect?
If she had told her the truth and you wouldn't have married her, she would have been in huge trouble with her family.
Her only mistake, it seems, was trusting you.
By the way, why is everybody so quick to assume a GC is worth so many sacrifices? Unless it can give me 100 IQ points or eternal youth, a GC isn't worth all the sacrifices we put into getting there.
