  1. No, it shouldn't be a problem as that's what you're supposed to do. That member's checklist was a false one, so I advised them to send it to the appropriate IV department. Yours was an actual checklist, so you were write to put ATTN: DR.

    2) The Checklist instruction also said to put Case # on top right of each doc. So i did that on each I-864 pages.

    3) On IV packet, for 2 passport-sized photos of the beneficiary, we wrote NVC Case#, DOB, and Name of Beneficiary on the back of both passport-sized pic. Is this what we were suppose to do? I read some folks got RFE for not doing that.

  2. Saylin & bouerchithi,

I've been reading the Feb thread and saw this post.

Few days ago, I sent my Checklist edited doc. to the "ATTN. DR" as stated on the Checklist email pdf attachment.

    Q's

    1) Will this necessarily cost me few days?

    2) The instruction also said to put Case # on top right of each doc. So i did that on each I-864 pages.

    3) On IV packet, for 2 pic of beneficiary, we wrote NVC Case#, DOB, and Name of Beneficiary on the back of both passport-sized pic. Is this what we were suppose to do? I read some folks got RFE for not doing that.

    NVC Filers - February 2012

    http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/349966-nvc-filers-february-2012/page__st__1680

Just stick with the bar-coded cover sheet from the payment portal.

There's a different ATTN on the checklist one as checklists go to a different department (then routed to either AOS or IV).

    Folks,

I paid the IV bill and downloaded the cover letter from the portal. This was approx. 2 weeks ago. In the meantime, my wife got delayed a bit for her police clearance certificate, so we were planning to send in the IV package sometime around Mar 15.

However, I received an email from NVC with the subject line Case#XXXXXXXXX (CHECKLIST COVER LETTER). The email seemed to just request the beneficiary to send in package IV. However it did contain another bar coded cover letter with slight change in the address.

The address on the bar coded cover letter that I just received in the CHECKLIST COVER LETTER email is:

    National Visa Center

    ATTN: DR

    31 Rochester Avenue, Suite 100

    Portsmouth, NH 03801-2914

The address that is on the cover letter on the payment portal

    National Visa Center

    Attn. CMR

    31 Rochester Avenue Suite 100

    Portsmouth, NH 03801-2914

Except the ATTN part, everything else is the same. I am assuming these two are basically the same cover letter, with different ATTns. But wanted to run by you guys in case I am missing something.

    Thanks!

  3. Can someone please explain the difference between the AOS bill and the IV bill PLEASE!!! SINCE the operator at NVC refused to!!!

    AOS fee $88

    IV fee $404

AOS = Affidavit of Support I-864 form + other stuff (Petitioner related)

IV = Immigration Visa DS-230 form + other stuff (Beneficiary related)

More info on the 1st page 1-2 post by Saylin.

  4. SIF?

Sorry i don't know what SIF stands for.

Think we can make it to 300 before the end of the month?

And nope, no real reason to go back to the payment portal after you pay the fees and print out the bar-coded cover sheet. There was another reason before (getting SIF on payment portal after sending packages used to indicate case complete), but that doesn't seem to really happen anymore...

  5. My stuff were delivered yesterday morning. I called this morning and was told it would take 20 days to review.

OK i'm saying to myself, how about i call back in 10 min.

jk  ...i'll call maybe in the evening or before 5pm

Rujby, I'm keeping my fingers crossed for both of us!

Hum i called this morning at 7h40 am. The operator ask me to call next week. I will call tonight again or have my wife called them tonight

Ah, not reviewed yet. Sorry, I read it wrong. Don't worry, it takes a day or two for them to review. Should be approved today! good.gifgood.gifgood.gif

  6. Everything except for what I bolded above is good. Those not doing EP do NOT get the CC email.

I don't think you get an email when your case is complete.

Thank you Saylin & July15!

Sot this is what i have.

x/xx/12 - Called NVC, Case Complete informed by Operator

x/xx/12 - Called NVC, Interview date assigned informed by Operator

x/xx/12 - Received interview package email

Q's, The last part, "Received interview package email" - Is this Whats called the Packet 4, with all the details on Medical checkups, etc...

  7. Yeah, I was like "Ummmm...Ummmm..." scrambling to find a pen and a paper, then found a used envelope to write stuff on.

    HAHA :lol::rofl:

I'll try calling again later on today or tonight now that they have received my IV package and AOS checklist this morning.

On that note, I wish we could check our AOS and IV status online.

That would be much much easier for all of us. Even to NVC.

laughing.gif That's why I always had NotePad opened with my little "speech" in case I got through quickly and wasn't mentally ready to talk with an operator.

Mainly i call 7h30AM or before 8am. I think i will call in the afternoon just to give them time to review the document and i will check my wife's email tonight as often as possible to see if there is no checklist.

One time i called at around 10PM (EST), after pressing 1, the operator pick up instantly.

I was left "Ummmmm...Ummmm...".  Wasn't prepared for such instant pickup.

  8. My wife's tax transcript of 2011 was submitted with the I-864 only the joint sponsor's 2011 was not. She ( joint sponsor ) submitted 2010,2009,2008. Monday she informed me that she just started filing her 2011 and will send it to me once it is ready. You think NVC should provide a checklist for that? after all, it is the joint sponsor 2011 that is missing not the principal sponsor.

    1) Your wife submitted 2011 transcript?oh i remember from other forum, she filed single. So that's why the transcript is ready.

I dont' see any problem with it.

    2) Joint sponsor submitted 2010,2009, and 2008. Why? because they haven't filed 2011 tax yet? Then i don't see any problem with it also.

They joint sponsor hasn't filed 2011 tax then how will NVC ask for their 2011 tax info.

I think the main thing to remember is what ever last 3 years you include, then use those amounts in I-864.

See my problem was i included 2008, 2009, and 2010. also included "a copy of 2011 return not transcript). so i got checklist for that, they wanted me to include 2011 amount in #25.

  9. Thank you so much! I will send it with the 2011 info then.

But remember if you are going to include "a COPY" of 2011 return then don't include 2008.

So your tax info will be: IRS transcripts of 2009, and 2010. And "Copy of 2011 1040form" or whatever the form name is.

In I-864, #25, then use most recent 2011, then 2010, then 2009. Read the I-864 instruction, it says to Use Total Income.

So this was my experience, this week. So i'm just basing it on that.

    Best of luck!

  10. Hi all, I'm new to this, so sorry if my questions have been answered already, but I am waiting for my case number (NVC said they have my file, just not in the system yet...) and preparing the AOS and IV papers. Since it's coming up on tax time, I'm curious if anyone knows if we should fill out the 864 with 2011 tax info, or just use the 2010 data.

Also, if I cannot keep calling daily to get the case number, who do they send it to? Hopefully it will be as an email!

    Thank you!!!

    I suggest you use 2011, 2010, and 2009.

Send a copy of 2011 return you filed.

    Send Transcripts of 2010, 2009.

    My situation:

I recently filed AOS with Transcripts from 2010, 2009, and 2008 and I also included a copy of 2011 return.

Result: I got a Checklist for not including 2011 amount in I-864.

Solution: I had to redo the I-864 and use Total income amount from 2011, 2010, and 2009.

The NVC "supervisor" told me that you don't necessarily need Transcript but a copy of return is fine (I don't know if this true) and since i did file 2011 and also included a copy of it. That means i had to include it.

    You get what i'm saying?

I Hope this helps you in avoiding Checklist like me.

    -Best Wishes :)

  11. OMG after NVC was going in such a good pace with now I sit and wait and feel like there is no movement while I wait for an interview date...I dislike this feeling...

I"m trying to cheer myself up with this little analogy - going from NVC to interview seems to be something like falling down a hill and hitting a brick wall. About right? :)

How slow or fast, does that depend on specific US embassy in each beneficiary's country?

  12. Hello guys,

For those interested on Checklist email.

I just got it (on 3rd day since being generated).

and just now mailed the corrected I-864.

The instruction said to write case number on top right corner of each document, so i did that on all pages of I-864.

It also said to staple all the documents but i used a paper clip.

Also says that i haven't paid, but i did 3 days ago, so i'm just gonna ignore that.

  13. If you really want to take the risk of sending UN-Translated paperwork by all means go for it. We translated EVERYTHING just in case. What may cost now a few extra $$ to translate is worth more than having the whole process being delayed because we tried to not go the extra-mile to facilitate the papers to be translated into English.

    Yes!

Wow! This thread has become very very long, so I apologize if the question I am about to ask has already been answered elsewhere. Please do me a favor and give me an answer anyway or re-link the previous answer.

I would like to use the option to email the Choice of Agent to NVC when case number has been issued. I am petitioning for my son who is 16 years old and currently in school and unfortunately does not have an email address or access to the internet where he is.

Question is, can I use MY email address to send his choice of agent on his behalf. The body of the Choice of Agent "form & sample" is worded in a way to be completed by the beneficiary (my son). So, will it be wrong if I "Petitioner" drafts a Choice of Agent email (for my son), put all the required info and then email it myself from my email address? My email address has all my names, so it will be evident who is sending email.

    OR

Can I also complete the REAL DS-3032 form, sign my son's name at the bottom (with parent, next to his signed name), then scan the signed form to PDF, then email it myself.

I have a feeling this thread will over over 200 pages !

Feb was only 115 Link: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/topic/349966-nvc-filers-february-2012/page__st__1710

regarding ds-3032, we emailed from beneficiary's email account and cc'd the petitioner.

but when they replied after 7 days, they didn't reply all, so petitioner did not get the acceptance email. only beneficiary got it but thats okay.
