  1. Here you go!

    ======================

    1. We declare that one spouse was a non-resident alien, and the other spouse a U.S. citizen, or lawful permanent resident (green card holder) on the last day of the tax year 200 , and we choose to be treated as U.S. residents for the entire year; and

    2. Our names, addresses, and social security/ taxpayer identification numbers are as follows:

    Name: US Citizen Full Name

    SS/TIN# US Citizen SSN#

    Name: Beneficiary's Full Name

    SS/TIN#: Write here "Applied For"

    Address: US Citzen's Address

    ______________________________________________________________

    ______________________________________________________________

    Signatures:

X US Citizen Signature Date: ______________________

    X Beneficiary's Sig Date: ________________________

  2. I inccluded all the copies and originals but i only submitted 1 ds-230 to NVC. Why would anyone submit two ds-230?

So i dont understand why we have to submit another ds-230 to VFS. I made copy of ds-230 which went to NVC. I can submit that to VFS

  3. For 3) Its a new DS-230 filled part 1 signed and part II unsigned

new DS-230 filled/signed, are you sure? i don't understand why they want another DS-230 filled/signed since we already submitted DS-230 to NVC, which will be forwarded to US Consulate in New Delhi.

  4. As far as i know, here is my answer. Someone please correct me if i'm wrong.

How long before do we need to schedule a medical before the interview date?

-As soon as you get Interview letter. You need the Interview letter to get the Medical done.

And could we submit documents to VFS 7 days in advance before the interview date or it has to be only 4 business days only?

    - Once you get medical report. I think we need to give all documents and medical (except chest x-ray) to VFS.

Do we need to make appointment to VFS too or it could be walk-in?

    - I think it is walk-in. I have never read any topics on setting up appointment for VFS.

How long does it take to get the medical reports, any guess?

    - I heard it takes about 2 weeks.

  5. You have to take the actual passport book with you to the VFS office. They make a copy of all the pages of the passport and return it to you. You have to then take it to the interview.

A copy of the beneficiary's passport should have been submitted to the NVC during the NVC stage.

Copy of Bio pages of Beneficiary's Passport were submitted to NVC.

So for VFS, Beneficiary takes their passport and VFS makes copies of all pages and returns the passport to beneficiary.

Beneficiary then takes the actual passport to the Interview also.

    correct?

we'll take copies of passport pages to interview just to be safe.

  6. called DOS for the first time.

Wow :wow: the women (ps: i stopped calling lady long time ago)..., so the women pretty much yelled :protest::ranting: at me for asking if interview has been assigned on our case. She said "WEEEEE DON'T DEAL WITH THIS.... LOOKS LIKE YOUR CASE IS AT NVC, I CAN GIVE YOU THEIR PHONE NUMBER....NO, WE DON'T DEAL WITH THIS, YOU CASE GOES FROM USCIS, THEN TO NVC, THEN TO EMBASSY!!!!!!!" and then she gives me a awkward license treatment.

    Whaaaaaaaaaaaaat !

I thought people at NVC were rude and mean, boy was i in for a treat!:clock:

  7. Also, for 3) you mean Copy of DS-230 which was submitted to NVC? or fill a new one with new signature & date?

I've gone thru the forums for documents to submit to VFS. Here is the list we would like to submit 7 business days before interview at Chennai VFS for the interview in Mumbai.

    1. Copy of passport - all pages

    2. 3 Passport Photos

    3. DS-230 Part I(Signeed) and Part II

    4. Copy of Birth Certificate

    5. Copy of Marriage Cetificate

    6. Copy of Police Cleance Certificate

    7. Medical report (except X-Ray)

    8. Fee - Rs. 393

Do we need to submit all supporting docs like hotel bills, flight tickets and phone records to VFS or take it directly to the interview. Please share your experience.

Also Is 7 business days sufficient to submit in Chennai VFS for interivew in Mumbai.

    Thanks in adance

  8. You'll be interviewing at New Delhi, right? If so, I'm not sure. My study holds good only for Mumbai.

Check out Nature11's timeline. Mumbai also.

    http://www.visajourney.com/timeline/profile.php?id=105800

Looks like they got Interview date which is about two months after CC.

Not sure when they interview was assigned though, maybe 2 weeks after CC 2/13/2012 because Consulate Received is 2/29/2012

Case Completed at NVC : 2012-02-13

    Consulate Received : 2012-02-29

    Interview Date : 2012-04-20

  9. I was doing a li'l study based on timelines for the past few years, but only for the Mumbai consulate. What I've figured out so far is that if you get a CC before the 20th (more like on or before 15th really), you get scheduled for the next month, and all those who have a CC after the 15th to 20th, get scheduled for the month after that. Since I got a CC on the 22nd of March, I think I might get a slot in May. Haven't yet checked how it works at the Delhi consulate though.

I see, i hope you are right because my CC as on 4/3. So i'm hoping for May interview.

  10. Oh boy, I hope it's not an issue for me. I listed all educational institutions for elementary school, high school, and college. For elementary and high school, I put N/A for degree (just put dates down). Under course of study I just repeated "elementary school" and "high school", respectively.., hope that's not a major issue... For college it was easy. I put his major under course of study and "Bachelor's" under degree.

For mine, i asked Saylin and went with her suggestion:

    Most present to past

    1) college , under degree or diploma, i put Degree

    2) high school, under degree or diploma, i put Diploma

    3) previous high school, under degree or diploma, i put None

Time between each 1) to 2) 3 month difference,

    2) to 3) 2 month difference

    I didnt get any RFE.

    thanks to Saylin

Hope you won't get any RFE, if you do then just edit and send it back :)

  11. If your interview is at an US embassy in India, just wanted to let everyone know that it is imperative you submit your passport, medical report, copy of beneficiary's birth certificate, copy of marriage certificate, copy of DS 230, US passport size pictures, and pay the courier fee of Rs. 387 to the VFS office at least 4 business days prior to your interview.....

Do you mean a submit to VFS: Copy of Beneficiary's passport bio pages? or copy of all passport pages?

    or the actual Passport book?

  12. Okay, it's not dropping from $404 to $230, it's dropping from $330 to $230. Remember, there's a $74 surcharge ($330 + $74 = $404). The new fee is $230, so $230 + $74 = $304. So, it's only $100 savings.

And wow, nice!!! :D That is an awesome deal for a t-shirt AND transfer! *gets money ready* :D

Wow SAYLIN! you went all out on the Sig!:dance: hehe

Now that i got CC, can't wait to get interview date assigned ! C'mon NVC ! Open already it's almost Monday

  13. I think we also need a list of good operators like Nigel!!! So when a Kelly, or Clark picks up we can say..."Kelly is Nigel available please?"

One time i was calling for computer support and call went to international calling center,

the person said, hello my name is: "ALPHA OMEGA".

I said: "Sorry whats your name again". They said: "Alpha Omega"

wow not even trying there...

  14. Saylin,

Is there any benefit in emailing US Embassy in beneficiary country to expedite or i guess fasten so that interview date can be assigned promptly? or is there just no hope or way to get this phase done quicker? hhmmmmmm

Well, at least they responded quickly and are going over it. You can still call and try to speak with a supervisor, but they may see that you got this email and tell you to wait until it's been reviewed.

  15. Sometimes, i wonder how grateful we all are to this website. There is nothing like this anywhere on WORLD WIDE WEB known as the INTERNET!

I mean the sheer amount of information we get from VJ. So much so that i just couldn't imagine tackling this journey w/o VJ.

So much so that I wouldn't mind paying a membership fee for it. NOT THAT I'M SAYING VJ should start chargin.

I'm JUST SAYING how immensely helpful VJ has been to me on this long, difficult and unpredictable journey.

    Thank you VJ. :)
