  1. Just got off the phone with my wife, she just makes me smile. She was at a doctor 's appointment, they made ultrasound for her, she is 6 months now. They congratulate her because the baby is very active, was playing in her belly and that she is very beautiful. They took 3D pictures of her, they keeps saying that baby is so so beautiful. i am so proud... She looks like me, she got my wife's eyes and her sister's nose and my face... :innocent:

AWWWW makes me all Mushy inside just reading your post

  2. Saylin,

Now that i got my cc yesterday, do i ever need to go back to Payment Portal website?

just want to delete it from my browser's auto start tab.

    Grats!

Yes, on the top right corner of each page. The ONLY pages you do NOT write the case number are: bar-coded cover sheet from the payment portal and the optional cover letter. Everything else though, yes.

Eep. Glad I'm not him; I hate needles...

  3. You guys Steph & Alia,

You both should get the interview date any day now!!! It has been over 2 weeks for you both.

The pros are many! First and foremost just getting rid of the anxiety of waiting for a date. It is especially important to me because at the DR embassy the petitioner MUST accompany the beneficiary at the interview. The longer I wait the more expensive tickets get. Also gotta let my job know when I'll be gone. Ohhh the stress!!

Makes two of us, you forgot to add I need to know my date of interview in order to pick my Summer Term courses and inform my professor of my absense and I was suppose to pick the courses like YESTERDAY... NVC please get on the ball with these interview dates, I would greatly appreciate it! :bonk:

IT' AIN'T MAH FAULT ! NVC was just asking for it

    it_aint_my_fault_tshirt-p235743186652893543zv2sj_400.jpg

You actually over abused the poor hammer...it really about time to pass it along!!! ....

  4. Hello,

Wondering what the PROS are to getting to find out the Interview date as soon as possible.

Is it so that I can plan my trip to attend interview with the beneficiary? save $ on flight fees? etc....

reason why i ask is that w/o the interview letter email or Packet4 email, beneficiary can't do medical (at least in India)

I suggest calling NVC and DOS daily, starting tomorrow. And yes, ask them if an interview date has been assigned.

I hope you don't have to wait too long. I called twice after my case was completed almost 3 weeks ago but I can't bear to keep calling and keep hearing that there is still no interview assigned. I have opted to sit and wait for the email. :(

  5. Thank you to all for your well wishes! :)

Now another waiting phase begins :help: . Hope i don't have to wait too long to get the Interview letter email aka Packet4

But i guess i should be calling NVC and DOS every other days? or daily? or every week?

and ask them: Has interview date been assigned for me?

Do I get an email when my case is completed?

Generally, no. Only those doing EP (electronic processing) get the case complete emails. There are some non-EP folk that get case complete emails, but it's rare. Again, to find out if your case is complete, call an operator at NVC and ask.

After the case is completed, what happens?

In most cases: the case is put in a queue to get an interview date scheduled. Once an interview date is scheduled, the case is shipped out to the consulate/embassy.

Who should I be calling to find out my interview date?

You should be calling both NVC and DOS. Both have access to your case information. Their numbers are linked above.

How long does it take to get an interview date after a case complete?

This varies by country and consulate/embassy. Some people find out within a day or two, others a few weeks, then the few unfortunate that wait a few months (ex: Ghana). To get the best estimate for YOUR country is to search, using the timeline feature, when others got case completes and when they got their interview dates scheduled.

When do interview dates get scheduled?

If you talk to operators at NVC, they'll always tell you they ONLY schedule during the second week of each month. This is a LIE. They schedule interviews ALL month long. Many people (like myself) have gotten scheduled during the last week of the month. I repeat, they schedule ALL month long.

How long does it take for NVC to mail my case out after getting an interview date scheduled?

Usually it's the next day, but it can take up to a week or more in rare cases.

Yup from Case# 3/8/12 to CC 4/3/12, that's 27 days, and thats 27 days with 2 Checklists. It's just like what Saylin always says, You Gotta Be On Top of it with NVC, like a Fly on a...... ummmm well that part i added but you get my point.

Just want to say Thank you to Saylin and to everybody else for their time spent answering my endless questions.

  7. Should i bother calling tonight?

I'm afraid cuz I always gett his M.E.A.N "lady". Always gives me the smirk sigh and just gives me the silent treatment and when i say "Okay, thank you", She says "OOOOKAAAYYYYYYY"

I mean #######!? just look into my case and answer my q's, thats all i'm asking.

I'm not asking her to Expedite my case.

People, you know what i'm talking about

You'll have a CC by the end of this week ;)

it took them 2 days to review my checklist. They received it from USPS on wednesday. Friday afternoon i called and i got my CC

  8. Hey guys,

How long does it usually take NVC to review IV checklist? I emailed my checklist response last week's Monday 3/26/2012.

Last Friday, an operator told me that got "something" from me and i called today and it's still in Review.

    hmm..... :protest::ranting::protest::ranting:

Frustrating because this Checklist was created by their mistake, whoever "reviewed" didn't know the full (other) requirement for this checklist.

  9. Hello Help!! i just recieved an email for a checklist cover letter. Not sure what this means??

I was informed that they alreayd accepted my AOS packet and I only mailed in my IV packet this morning...

Here is what is says :

    ______CORRESPONDENCE INSTRUCTIONS:_________________________________

When responding to the National Visa Center, please include the bar code sheet that came with this

letter. Failure to include the bar code sheet may cause a delay in the processing of your case. The bar

code sheet should be placed on top of all documents being submitted for this case and mailed to the

    address provided.

    ______1 - IMMIGRANT VISA APPLICATION PART 1:_______________________

The National Visa Center is waiting for an Immigrant Visa Application to be submitted for this case.

The Principal Applicant and any other Applicants who will be accompanying him or her to the United

States must now download and complete an Immigrant Visa Application; please visit the following

    website for instructions:

first is just saying to include the BAR-CODED or "DOCUMENT COVER SHEET" with the package.

second sounds like it's asking you to submit DS-230 for your beneficiary or those immigrating with the beneficiary.

  10. Saylin i just got a checklist for The IV fee.But i already paid the fee!!

    Doesn't sound serious.

When i got Checklist for AOS, in the email from NVC, i also got checklist for Payment.

But my status was PAID few days ago.

So i just mailed them AOS checklist that i needed to change and ignored the payment checklist.

You can still call them and ask, i didn't because i knew it was their system not updated.

  11. Dear National Visa Center,

Hi! It's me again. We were having such a great time last Friday, I was hoping we could carry it over to Monday. But you haven't returned my messages. Please respond sometime today with an Immigrant Visa invoice and a DS-260.

    Hugs and Kisses,

    Me

When i emailed NVC, 1st email, i got response on the 4th day since emailing. My 2nd email, it took them 1 week to reply to that. So frustrating. :crying:

  12. Well, I got my CC end of January, interview scheduled on Jan 30, and my interview was the last week of March... It's not very clear.

Maybe it all depends on the how busy the US Embassy usually are.

Big immigrant countries like India, China, Philippines gets interview next month or early days of the 2nd month.

I hope i can get CC this week and get early May interview Slot or maybe even late April? I don't think so but i can dream, right? :P

  13. Do you want to share us why did you get the checklist on PCC? i thought u had your case complete by now.

Don't worry it doesn't apply to typical case. NVC gave Checklist for not having PCC from passport office. My situation is that it does not apply to my beneficiary since the beneficiary is a non-indian, residing in India, so the beneficiary does not have Indian Passport, only "Identity card" so therefore only PCC given is by Local district Police Station to the beneficiary. So we emailed NVC with explanation and they are still reviewing it.

    Read here: http://travel.state.gov/pdf/supplements/NWD-SUP-ENGL-0001-1112.pdf

"Non-Indian immigrant visa applicants residing in India should obtain police certificates from the district police station serving their area of residence."

The frustrating :( part is that this Checklist should not have come up because if the reviewer actually paid attention, they would have realized this, We even put a special note on the local PCC. Now looks like this unnecessary checklist will cost us extra 2 weeks of delay. :crying:

  14. I'm all about equality and it really bugs me that he is still in queue while others with October NOA1 dates are getting approved. I felt skipped over when people with NOA1 dates a month after mine where getting approved. I also felt a lot of envy towards those who were getting approved within 2 weeks.

We all complain about how long it takes to get a visa now, but apparently it was even worse a few years ago. IR-1/CR-1 visas were taking 1-2 years or more which is why they created the K-3 visas which are now no longer necessary.

Yes i believe thats correct about K3.

i think if we were all on K3, it only stays at NVC for couple of days and then goes straight to US Embassy.

  15. I just got off the phone with NVC, the CASE IS COMPLETE yeahhhhhhhhhhhhhh

Congrats RUJBY !!!!!!

    1) What did they say exactly?

    2) what did you ask them? "Calling to see if my case has is complete?" or "Calling to see if my case has been reviewed and approved?"

(PS: The last time i came here was on page 205 ! wow this thread jumps like 100 pages in a week !)

  16. Yup...we have copies of copies of the copies :)

So the interview letter is e-mailed to the beneficiary by the NVC. The packet 4 is to be received at the beneficiary's mailing address. In our case, we did not receive the hard or soft copy of the packet 4. We just go the interview letter, along with information of the documents we would need for the interview, all of which were marked as originals being received by the NVC. It was very strange!! Did some research after last week and the packet 4 can be downloaded at this link:

    http://mumbai.usconsulate.gov/ivforms.html

    1) I think the Interview letter (email) is the Packet 4? because it tells you what document to bring...

    2) I think beneficiary will get this Interview letter or Packet 4 in EMAIL form? not mailing actual letter?

our interview is in New Delhi

  17. Yes, very strange, i mean whats the point of giving all copies and originals to NVC if US embassy via VFS will still ask for copies during interview. STRANGE !

I'm going to make extra copies anyway so, i will try to give to VFS if they want it or not.

if they want it, i will still carry some copies to Interview just incase.

COPIES COPIES Everywhere ! Not taking chance.

But i think Interview Letter (Packet 4) should have all the info to what to do., correct?

Seems strange how you experienced the things with VFS. I renewed my passport after NVC marked my case " completed " , and at VFS office, I only submitted front/back copy of my new passport. That is it. There was no issue with Mumbai Consulate either.

Did you have interview in Delhi?

That is exactly what I thought as well. All of our original documents were submitted to the NVC during the NVC stage. That is why when they told my wife at the VFS office that she can take all the documents with her at the interview, neither of us thought it would be an issue because we submitted all the originals to the NVC. But the process is that you have to submit copies of all the below referenced documents to the VFS, including the DS-230 part 1 and 2. You also have to submit your unopened medical packet to the VFS office. The only part of the medical you take to the interview is the chest x-ray. The rest of the documents have to be submitted to the VFS prior to the interview. The beneficiary has to take their passport too because the VFS makes copies of all the pages of their passport prior to the interview.

  18. Well, what about situation where we have submitted below to the NVC.

    1) Original Marriage Certificate and a copy

    2) Original birth cert of beneficiary and a copy

    3) Copy of Passport bio pages

    4) two(2) US passport-sized pictures

    5) DS-230 & I-864

    etc...etc..

We will still take copies of above and other future doc needed to Interview but NVC should have all the needed above copies, with Originals also.

    What do you think?

Medical reports, i believe we have to take it to interview "UNOPENED". not give to VFS.

OP is correct only thing that I think is wrong is you don't submit the passport to VFS, you take the passport with you on the day of interview.

Personally I have repeated on this forum over and over I had give as much as I could ahead of time to VFS so on day of interview I dont have to remember and take it.

You can give all the documents you want to VFS they have a checklist which they will give you show all the documents you have sumbitted.

So you have a proof of all the documents one has sumbitted to VFS.

If your interview is at an US embassy in India, just wanted to let everyone know that it is imperative you submit your passport, medical report, copy of beneficiary's birth certificate, copy of marriage certificate, copy of DS 230, US passport size pictures, and pay the courier fee of Rs. 387 to the VFS office at least 4 business days prior to your interview. My wife was scheduled for her interview today. She took all the required documents to the VFS office last week but it was 3 business days prior to the interview. She was also missing a couple of documents. The VFS employee advised her that she is late with her submission and cannot accept these documents. My wife was told she could take it directly to the embassy during her interview and it wouldn't be a big deal. My wife triple checked with the VFS employee and they confirmed it would not be an issue and is not a required step.

Fast forward to today and my wife took her appointment letter, the above documents and supporting evidence that may be required at the interview to the embassy. She checked into the embassy and got her token number. As soon as she entered the embassy, she was called up to the counter within 5 minutes for her initial review. My wife was advised over there that she had not submitted her documents to the VFS and her interview will need to be rescheduled. The gentleman there was very nice and my wife explained the above situation to him. He listened carefully, then told her to wait for a couple of minutes. He went to another room and called the VFS office. He came back with the details that she was there last week and was told by the VFS employee that all these documents could be brought directly to the embassy during the interview. Basically, he confirmed that my wife was telling the truth. He said, unfortunately he still needs to reschedule the interview, as all the documents have to be submitted for review prior to the interview to the VFS facility. So make sure that the above documents are submitted to the VFS facility in Inda at atleast 1 week prior to your interview.

Hope that this helps other people and others can avoid some delays in their interview process.
