Sorry, but if your view(not you) of people that share my skin color is ignorant and violent, then I'm going to have an issue with it. I've disagreed with a few folks on things that didn't contain race, and it was civil. If we don't agree on something, we can agree to disagree. But when Janelle and I have to come in here daily and be told the rules of racism by a bunch of guys who have the most negative perception of black people, it's a problem with me.
It's one thing to have a different opinion, but to tell me my religion is inherently violent, or that my people are less than nothing, I might get a bit testy. And what's worse is the two black people in this forum are consistently told how to feel about what's happening to us like they know better.

And where do you think this stems from?
Look, I'm all about personal responsibility, but it's really not a fair discussion when you look at where we started from. Why do you think there is such apathy within certain parts of the black community? What other race of people here in the US have been taught to hate themselves to the point self destruction is almost a daily occurrence? Why do you think the murder rate, crime rate, poverty rate is paramount for black people?
At no point in American history black people were on the same level as white people. When the chains came off, it still wasn't fair because you had segregation to deal with. You can't spend five centuries systematically destroying a race a people then sit back and say, gee, I wonder why they kill each other? They weren't taught how to build businesses, they couldn't own land, they couldn't receive a good education. Not to mention the ideology that we're inferior to you, which still creeps into people's thought process even today...
I'll say that things are way better than they were 40 years ago for sure, but a lot of that killing and committing crime comes from systematic poverty, no education, no job skills. When you've been raised in an environment that has told you from birth your life isn't worth that of a white person, when killing animals gets you more jail time than killing a black person, when your family has spent the last 3 decades in the slums, it's not so easy to say shake it off and move on. Some do, others aren't so lucky...

Because they ONLY hate a certain group. Like I said, they can separate their hate by saying I only hate blacks, Muslims, Hispanics or the like. They don't have a problem with their wife's culture. One of these folks praises China like he's one of them but calls Japanese people slurs. Just because you marry outside your race, doesn't mean you're not a racist.

Here's my thing. What bothers me is the people who are obsessed about black people and the like only want to discuss it as a negative aspect of our society. Like Teddy said, we hate when we hear black community because it's only used in the most negative of circumstances. Like the Baltimore riots, for example. Look at the comments, then go look at the pumpkin riots from last year. Completely different reaction. We all know why, but this is just one example. It's frustrating to hear day in and day out that we talk about race, only to have those same folks bring it up every single day. Yet if myself or Janelle point this out, we're in the wrong. What's even funnier? We get told we're just as bad if we make fun of those people talking about how we're destroying America or how our people amount to feces.
Racism can only be done by the majority of those in power. Anyone can be racist, but racism is the system in which people are oppressed. White people here are the majority, and in most positions of power. So in theory, you tend to get the blame. But I know that all white people aren't racist, not by a long shot. When I comment, I'm talking to those few people who make such bigoted comments, not anyone else. Unlike them, I have no issues calling them racist to their faces.

You already know why this is happening. Those individuals who are married to Asian or other than white spouses can't join those other sites, lest their spouses and children become targets. At least here, you can make broad generalizations, which are basically racist insults wrapped up in different words, without any real fear of reprisal due to, lack of reporting by folks that are insulted by it bc we need to have "thick" skin, or folks tend to care less when it's someone else being demonized...

Over the weekend Janelle had her account closed due to a thread she started and a link in her signature. I think it's crazy that this got her kicked from the site, seeing the thread was in good humor and the conversation was light hearted. No one was attacked, and in hindsight, the video could have been removed and the discussion left in tact. Not to mention, her video of police brutality than the same videos posted here daily. Being that PB is a very discussed topic, don't see why it's an issue. But we've known for a while that it was only a matter of time before she got the ax. Since her topic got to 3 pages, I can only surmise someone said something after the fact.
I thought about protesting her removal. And fighting to get her back here since I've seen the bias and favoritism shown towards certain members in regards to posting topics. Seen POC and other minority groups straight get vilified while those who challenge such misconceptions get kicked out. We knew why, but we tend to not back down from a fight. And it has costs us on more than a few occasions, with thread bans and suspensions. But we're good knowing we stood up for the right thing and said what we felt was right.
But, in her infinite wisdom, she said there's no need. Because we both got the best part of this place, each other. And that's all that matters. We're going to bigger platforms to fight this battle. If anyone wants to reach us, hit up Val, she knows how to reach us.

There's so much more, but it looks like the more extreme ones aren't in plain sight anymore. And every time Janelle engaged with him, he made it a point not to say something. Which is what's expected.
It's sad that NB went into a long page tirade about how positive black people aren't getting credit and the worse of us are uplifted. The best role model any black person can have, a man who has multiple degrees, married to the most awesome black woman(Janelle and Oprah are 2nd and 3rd) in the world, has two great daughters, been nothing but fiyah since day one, is the living embodiment of class, grace, and swag, oh yeah, he was elected President of the United States, twice, and he's the black man some of you can't stand, a good chunk of you don't even believe he's an American citizen or he's a secret Muslim. Like it matters.

This site has a TOS. One that's a bit wonky sometimes, but that's the price of being here. I've seen some shady bans and questionable judgement calls, but we're on someone's site as guests. Unless you pay, or run it, you have to play the game. Folks get warnings and if you don't adhere to the rules, you get the boot. It's real simple.
Now, on to the real issue. The member in question has been here for over a decade. More than a few of us felt that he was given quite a wide berth in regards to posting, given his exclusive posting history of only 3 topics give or take. Personally seen it where his thread, while derogatory towards an entire group of people, was left alone and his speech unimpeded, while a member was banned for just speaking his name in the same thread. So the fact he was banned, means he's probably been skating on thin ice longer than any of us. And was probably warned more than any of us combined. Free speech is freedom to speak your mind, it doesn't protect you from the consequences of your words.
I spoke upon this in that thread where it was brought up. The folks are mad that he got the boot, but let's keep it 100. We all knew the history, and with the bans going out more frequently, someone on his side of the fence should have said something to him. He wouldn't listen to me or any other MDL, but one of you could have reached him. I know here I've said some things that might have not been what I meant or even flat out wrong, and folks in the MDL corrected me. If I felt it was wrong, I apologized and made the correction, if I was right, I broke out the receipts. And I've done the same for a few members that I always agree with. That's what you do, you hold yourself and those in your company responsible for your actions, so there's no raised eyebrows in terms of integrity.
But I find it unusual to say the least. Another member said they stay out of folks business when it comes to blanket generalizations(at least in the realm of certain minorities) but make a blanket statement about a group of people you might have a fancy for, they coming in ready to shed blood. You can't say you're not for something when you allow it to go unchecked forever then be hurt when the hammer comes down. Either stand up for what's right, or go down with the wrong when it's time.
You can't be against something when you're in the background saying that's none of my business in an open forum. Especially when you're in the same space making comments on it, knowing it's wrong.

So tell me, how is it possible when white people go on killing sprees, somehow they come out unharmed? I mean a dude went and stabbed two people to death, and tried to eat another dude's face off, but the cops were able to detain him. What about the SC shooter? Black person lays in the street with hands and legs in plain view, he gets shot. A white kid walks into a church and guns down 10 people? He gets arrested and treated to BK, because he's hungry.
I don't advocate for crime, but when a white person can kill multiple people and there's plenty of precautions taken to arrest him alive, while a black person grabbing his wallet or even compiling with the officer's commands gets him shot or killed, you can't deny there's an issue. Stop telling black people to not commit crimes or comply when white people can commit mass murder AND fight the cops, all while living to tell the tale.

From 15 to 34, homicide is the leading cause of death for black men. Murder doesn't even get to 10% in your category. We have babies that have to worry about getting killed. Malpractice isn't murder, unless you can produce evidence that shows doctors high fiving each other after a black person dies on the OT. Or email trails that show doctors are deliberately trying to kill us. This is evident in police departments.

The best role model any black person can have, a man who has multiple degrees, married to the most awesome black woman(Janelle and Oprah are 2nd and 3rd) in the world, has two great daughters, been nothing but fiyah since day one, is the living embodiment of class, grace, and swag, oh yeah, he was elected President of the United States, twice, and he's the black man some of you can't stand, a good chunk of you don't even believe he's an American citizen or he's a secret Muslim. Like it matters.

A few things:
This site has a TOS. One that's a bit wonky sometimes, but that's the price of being here. I've seen some shady bans and questionable judgement calls, but we're on someone's site as guests. Unless you pay, or run it, you have to play the game. Folks get warnings and if you don't adhere to the rules, you get the boot. It's real simple.
Now, on to the real issue. The member in question has been here for over a decade. More than a few of us felt that he was given quite a wide berth in regards to posting, given his exclusive posting history of only 3 topics give or take. Personally seen it where his thread, while derogatory towards an entire group of people, was left alone and his speech unimpeded, while a member was banned for just speaking his name in the same thread. So the fact he was banned, means he's probably been skating on thin ice longer than any of us. And was probably warned more than any of us combined. Free speech is freedom to speak your mind, it doesn't protect you from the consequences of your words.
I spoke upon this in that thread where it was brought up. The folks are mad that he got the boot, but let's keep it 100. We all knew the history, and with the bans going out more frequently, someone on his side of the fence should have said something to him. He wouldn't listen to me or any other MDL, but one of you could have reached him. I know here I've said some things that might have not been what I meant or even flat out wrong, and folks in the MDL corrected me. If I felt it was wrong, I apologized and made the correction, if I was right, I broke out the receipts. And I've done the same for a few members that I always agree with. That's what you do, you hold yourself and those in your company responsible for your actions, so there's no raised eyebrows in terms of integrity.
But I find it unusual to say the least. Another member said they stay out of folks business when it comes to blanket generalizations(at least in the realm of certain minorities) but make a blanket statement about a group of people you might have a fancy for, they coming in ready to shed blood. You can't say you're not for something when you allow it to go unchecked forever then be hurt when the hammer comes down. Either stand up for what's right, or go down with the wrong when it's time.
You can't be against something when you're in the background saying that's none of my business in an open forum. Especially when you're in the same space making comments on it, knowing it's wrong.
