Hi all,

Had my CR-1 Visa apt today which went well. Told would be approved once they received the medical (which Visa Medical tells me was sent electronically last week so they now need to send in the post - nightmare!) and also wanted me to upload my husbands W2 - the officer reviewed this in person today and it was fine but he told me to upload and gave me instructions to do so.

I m back at work and went to upload but it s the same NVC website! Where the exact same W2 is! So I ve re-uploaded.

Has anyone else had this issue? It s just more stress when it should of been a straight approval today... so frustrating. I tried phoning the embassy but was told there was no one I could talk to!

Thank you in advance!

Help with Possible Expedited Interview K-1 London

Hello all,

I am debating on requesting (or having the beneficiary request) an expedited interview for k-1 visa due to a medical issue of mine (the sponsor). I don't know how many people here have successfully been granted one during regular times let alone pandemic times, but any advice or insight would be really helpful in our decision making process.

- Here's the rundown on the K-1 side: as of March 31, 2020 our CEAC has been ready, we have the DS-160, police check and medical done (march 6th). He has all paperwork except my most recent paychecks and bank statements (we were waiting so they would be current). We have had 3 interviews scheduled and then cancelled by the London Embassy (yes we understand why). Prior to the world shutting down we were anticipating his arrival around mid to late April. We are fully ready to interview.

- Here's the run down on my medical: I have a neurological condition that is making me lose sight. So far I have been a year into my diagnosis and medication regimen but require further testing; possibly surgery. Both the testing and the brain surgery require that I have someone at home to help me recover as I won't really be able to do regular household chores, care a great deal for myself etc. I have postponed all my testing until further notice, I don't have any family or friends remotely near me. My neurologist is getting pissed and has rallied the support of my GP to push me for the testing. I am continuing to lose my sight and without intervention can and will most likely suffer permanent vision loss or total vision loss. Right now I am still able to work and function mostly normally, vision is not the best tho. My neuro has not scheduled any surgery at this time, mostly because I haven't got the tests done.

I'm not reaching out for sympathy or anything I am looking for answers to the following question:

1) does this potentially qualify for an expedited interview?

2) I will need documentation of my diagnosis and what else? letters from GP and Neuro?

3) If we request an expedited interview and are denied I assume it will not hurt our visa approval down the line when regular appointments open up, please correct if I'm wrong or if any one has experiences with expedited request denials.

4) If we end up requesting a interview based on this information it will go to the immigration visa unit in London, correct?

5) Will I (sponsor) or he (beneficiary) have to request the interview?

As I stated any information would be helpful. Thanks in advance everyone, hang in there!!!

Cheers!

[UPDATED] My fianc (e) visa petition has been approved. Can I continue with the application process now?

The Department of State suspended routine visa services worldwide in March 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As global conditions evolve, U.S. Embassies and Consulates are beginning a phased resumption of routine visa services. The resumption of routine visa services will occur on a post-by-post basis, in coordination with the Department s Diplomacy Strong framework for safely returning our workforce to Department facilities. U.S. Embassies and Consulates have continued to provide emergency and mission-critical visa services since March and will continue to do so as they are able. As post-specific conditions improve, our missions will begin providing additional services, culminating eventually in a complete resumption of routine visa services.

We are only able to process visas for spouses and minor children of U.S. citizens (IR-1, CR-1, IR-2 or CR-2). We are not currently able to issue or reissue any fianc (e) (K-1) visas. This is why it is not possible for you to proceed with your visa application at this time.

We are unable to provide a specific date for when the U.S. Embassy in London will resume K-1 visa services, or when the U.S. Embassy in London will return to processing at pre-COVID workload levels, but please be assured that we will resume K-1 visa services as soon as possible while complying with operational and travel regulations and restrictions. This is why we urge you to keep checking this website regularly for the latest information about the Embassy s operating status and any further updates.

If you were contacted with your case number and application instructions before March 20, 2020, you can use this time to collect the supporting documents that will be needed for your visa interview. However, you should not attempt to book a medical examination or visa interview date yet because it is not currently possible for K-1 visas to be processed or issued. Please continue to check this webpage as we will update it as soon as it is possible for you to resume the application process by booking a medical and a visa interview date.

If your petition has been approved but you have not yet received your case number and application instructions, you will be contacted with that information when it is possible for your begin to the visa application process. You can check our website to help you prepare for the next steps and you can begin collecting the supporting documents you will need. However, you should not try to book a medical examination or visa interview yet. Please continue to check this webpage for updates.

Arriving on CR-1/IR-1by sea

Wasn t able to find any info online so was just curious if anyone had any experience or knowledge in this area... if my husband s CR-1 (or IR-1 depending on how the next two months go) is approved, we were thinking of taking a transatlantic cruise from Southampton with Cunard for our arrival into the US. Mainly because they allow unlimited luggage and the cruise prices are way lower than airfare right now. That being said, is US Customs at the Brooklyn Cruise Terminal able to process him just as they would if he arrived by air? I assume it is the same, but just looking to see if anyone has successfully done this.

I-864 co-sponsor and interview questions

Hi, I m new to the forum and can t seem to find an answer to a couple of my questions. If anyone has experience with either of the following I would greatly appreciate the help!

1. Regarding the I-864, as I live in the UK with my husband (intending immigrant) my Dad is planning to co-sponsor him as I made only a very limited US income last year having moved to the UK in February 2019. If my father and mother filed their 2019 income tax jointly then do they both need to be co-sponsors for the I-864 as their tax return reflects both incomes?

2. We were able to get a medical exam scheduled right away, however, when trying to schedule an appointment at the embassy for the actual visa interview it says No appointments available. Is this normal and if so, do we have to keep logging on to try to grab an appointment cancellation or will they release more periodically?
