Hello everyone,

I have a question regarding nickname please.

Example, my legal name is Natalie but some friends and family call me Nat but this is not in any legal documents. I didn t put Nat as nickname in I130. In an affidavit letter for I130 I was referred to as Natalie at the beginning and through out the letter with note at the beginning (sometimes called Nat). My question is should I put Nat in I751 under a nickname? I didn t put that in I130.

Thank you all.

I-864 Sponsor and Joint Sponsor - 2025 Evidence

Hi all,

I m grateful to share that our I-130 was approved on 17 December 2024. My wife (a U.S. citizen) and I (a UK citizen) currently live in the UK with our children, and we re planning to relocate to the U.S. My wife and children are all U.S. citizens, so I m the only one immigrating.

I understand the domicile requirements for the petitioner. My wife has maintained substantial ties to the U.S. and plans to move ahead of me in June this year to re-establish our life there. We have evidence to support this (household goods shipping, children enrolled in preschool, health and dental care arranged, dog importing to US, etc.). She has also filed U.S. tax returns for 2022, 2023, and 2024, although her income in those years is below the I-864 threshold. So we have enlisted the help of my father-in-law (her father) as a joint sponsor. He earns well above the required level and is also providing us with accommodation in the U.S.

One point I m unclear on, since the 2025 tax year is not yet filed, do we need to submit any evidence showing current (2025) income for either my wife or my father-in-law, given that 2025 tax transcripts won t yet be available? If so, what form should that evidence take?

For context, my father-in-law previously owned a business which he sold, and he now works a few days a week as an independent contractor for his former business partner. I d appreciate guidance on what documentation would typically be uploaded for a joint sponsor in this situation during the current tax year. I am thinking 1099's from last 6 months and maybe a letter from his old business?

Thanks in advance for any and all help!

Hello, I am looking for information from anyone who has applied for a Certified Criminal Record Check For Personal Use from the RCMP in Canada from overseas with a view to supplying this as evidence during the IR-1 visa process. My understanding of the process is as follows:

  1. Fingerprints from Police Station
  2. Send to RCMP through third party website
  3. RCMP review and send the criminal record check back via mail.

The issue I am having today in Melbourne, Victoria, is that I visited the police station to get the fingerprints and I did not get the fingerprints on a Canadian form but on one that is letter headed Police Victoria. Does anyone know if this is sufficient?

Separately, the vaccination list on Travel.State.Gov is as follows:

  • Hepatitis A
  • Hepatitis B
  • Influenza
  • Influenza type b (Hib)
  • Measles
  • Meningococcal
  • Mumps
  • Pneumococcal
  • Pertussis
  • Polio
  • Rotavirus
  • Rubella
  • Tetanus and diphtheria toxoids
  • Varicella

I have checked with my doctor and I have not had a tetanus and diphtheria toxoids, is it recommended to get vaccines before the medical examination before the interview? Additionally, I haven't received a Varicella vaccine because I had chickenpox as a child and the Rotavirus vaccine isn't recommended for adults, has anyone encountered this before?

I did an AOS from my H1B to GC. I have been a permanent resident since the last 5 continuous years now. Have no criminal history or tax offenses.

The only real issue in my situation has been a long term divorce and child custody case that's been holding out for 3 years now. I do not know when the decree will be issued, nor when the child custody case will be finalized. My lawyers have said it should come sometime mid-2026. There were no issues of infidelity or anything like that, but the marriage was full of physical abuse and the court has been taking a lot of that into consideration for this custody case.

I am aware of the 8/15/25 Good Moral Character Memo as well, and have enough documentation to prove that: neighbor's letters, community and church involvement, mentoring, employer letters, etc. .

I am eligible to apply for N-400 on the 5yr rule but have not started the process yet. I'd like to do so in order to ensure the safety of my child and to prove to the court that I am serious about settling in the United States long term. I have no criminal/DUI/minor offense history, always have filed taxes on time (always paid any taxes due on time as well), and am current on the small amount of child support I pay...

So the question is...is it okay to go ahead and file the N-400 on 5yr rule while I wait for the divorce decree to come? I am okay hiring an immigration lawyer as well in case that is recommended in the current climate. FWIW, I am a British Citizen.
