US Immigration from United Kingdom

Hello, I (from UK) and my fianc (American) just mailed our paperwork to the Dallas lockbox. We understand it can take 7-9mnths for USCIS to approve our petition. Our concern is the time it s going to take for me to be asked for an interview at the US embassy in London. They haven t done K1 interviews for over a year now and we are both slightly concerned how long this process is going to take because of the backlog. Is anyone else now just submitting their docs off? I would love to keep in touch with couples who are only just doing it and seeing how long this whole thing takes. Many thanks!!

I had my interview yesterday, my case was approved.

I had to wait about 45 minutes for my name to be called.

My interviewer first asked me to remain standing and pledge to tell the truth.

She then informed me that although I had applied under the 3 years of marriage rule, I qualified for the 5 years rule - therefore she was going to update my application, so I didn't need to show any proof of marriage (fine by me!!). She asked if I had travelled outside the country in the last year (I had not).

I showed my ID and passports.

We quickly moved onto the test. I was asked the following questions:

* Who is the president?

* What is the rule of law?
* What are two ways Americans can participate in their democracy?

* What are 3 of the original colonies?

* Where is the statue of liberty located?

* How many justices are there on the Supreme Court?

After answering those 6 she moved onto the reading/writing portion. I was relieved she didn't ask anymore questions, as I knew then that I had passed that section!

I was asked to read the following question from the iPad: "Who lived here first?" And was told to write the answer: "American Indians lived here first."

She then asked me all the Yes/No questions from the end of the N400 application. And told me that I had passed, and would probably need to wait up to 3 months for my oath ceremony, which will probably be there at the Norfolk office.

It was extremely quick and painless. I was secretly disappointed she didn't want to look through all my documents that I had spent weeks compiling (just kidding!!)- 5 years of tax transcripts, birth certificates for all my family members, including myself, my marriage certificate, proof of travel over the last 5 years etc...

So glad its over!!!!!!! Woohoo!!!!

My wife came in with a k1 visa July 2020.

We married & immediately applied fo social security card (number) Aug.2020. We got the card sent to us after 4weeks.

We filled for adjustments of status (485, 131, 751). In September 2020.
To our surprise, we received a second SS card in the mail same name but different number. We don t know what to do.

anyone with this experience, pls share.

It's been a long time since I've posted anything here as things have been uneventful but now it's time for us to submit my husband's I-751! This is probably a silly question, I just want to make sure I'm not misinterpreting the instructions, and so far they've been required for every application. Do we need to submit passport photos with the I-751 application? Instructions imply that passport photos are only required for the "exception" that aren't providing a copy of the front and back of their green card. (I've attached a snip of the part of the instructions I'm referring to)

Also, on a separate note, so far these are the documents I've compiled for our application as evidence:

- Joint mortgage statement for April

- Joint bank statement

- Water bill from our township that has both of our names on it

- Paystubs for both of us (we work for the same employer so thought maybe that would be something?)

- Around 6-10 photos of us with my family, his family, and our friends, also a photo of us when we bought our house and our wedding rings from when we upgraded last year.

Is this too much? Not enough?

Last question! Are we applying too early or are we just right, maybe a bit late? His green card expires 8/29/2021 and with how long the other processes have taken I feel like I'm really behind! Did I wait too long or should I wait to submit our application?

Hi everyone, just a quick silly question haha

So I grew up in Kosovo and moved to the United Kingdom when I was 7 years old, and then became a British Citizen. I travelled to Australia for about 10 months in 2013 then came back to the UK as this is where I live.

Do I need a police report for Kosovo, Australia and the UK? Or just the UK?

This is very confusing so if anyone can shed some light it would be awesome!!
