Hi Friends, Under Part 3 Question 8b, it asks "I have mortgages or other debts amounting to"... Is this looking for things like student loans and credit card debt? Is it monthly bills? I'm not sure what it's really looking for. Please help. (I don't have any mortgage debt, but I have a small student loan and some medical bills I'm paying off.) Thank you.

Initial I-129F submission - 05/20/2021 NOA2 - 02/02/2021 I'm coming up on the 4-month window of approval from USCIS and I have a concern about not receiving anything by mail from the NVC. I contacted the NVC a few weeks ago and they mentioned that I won't receive anything until the application has been sent to the London Embassy for processing, however they did provide me with a case number and invoice number. When I go to https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx? and enter in the case number, it states that the application is "At NVC" and that I can check the status by going to http://ceac.state.gov/iv. I go to that website and enter in the case number AND the invoice number I received from calling the NVC and the case summary information states: K visas are nonimmigrant visas that assist spouses or future spouses of American citizens in entering the United States. As with all nonimmigrant visa applicants, a DS-160 must be filled out in order for a consular section to process the case. Now my concern is that the NVC is waiting for me to submit a DS-160, but I have never received explicit instructions to do so. Has anyone had a similar experience to mine? Thank you in advance!

Hello! I am very excited that, after nearly five years apart, my husband finally entered the POE in Atlanta on his CR1 visa on March 24! Prior to his entry, I paid the USCIS fee on March 16. Since then, we have not received any updates regarding the green card. I know it typically takes 90 days up to 120, but I have recently seen a couple of cases where it took only a couple weeks post entry. What is the typical timeline these days? The college he plans to attend in August is wary to accept the I-551 passport stamp as anything other than an international student, which comes with so much institutional baggage that I would like to avoid. I am eager to get that taken care of with the green card!

Hello, I know this seems to be a grey area but I wanted to posit this issue again to see if there have been any first hand accounts. My fianc e is an internet freelancer and will "finally" be coming to America on her K1 visa. We are familiar with the conservative approach of waiting for the EAD/AOS to be approved before she resumes her freelancing business but are also mindful of the unreliable and extended processing times for the EAD/AOS. We came across INA 245(c)(2) and it sounds should she continue her freelancing business while she is in America on the k1 visa, thus engaging in unauthorized employment, if she becomes my spouse before she does any work that she would not be barred from adjusting her status. Also, for what it is worth, her clients have paid her in full in advance while she still is in the UK so once she would be in the US there would not be any subsequent exchange of money just the rendering of services. Any thoughts on the above?? TIA!!
