Hi,

I am trying to understand the police clearance certificate as requested by NVC. I was bron in India and lived till at the age of 24. Curently I am Swedish citizen (from last 5 years) and gave up my India passport. I have the police clearance certificate from Sweden, however since I lived in India , do I need to submit another certificate from India ? I looked at the webiste

travel-.state. gov and foudn that

pecial Seal(s) / Color / Format: All police clearance certificates from regional passport offices have a similar format. The header bears the symbol of India s Central government (three lions), and contains the contact information of the regional office, issuance date, file number, and applicant photograph. It is signed and stamped by the Ministry of External Affairs. Police clearance certificates issued by other authorities vary in format.

Issuing Authority Personnel Title: There is no issuing authority personnel title

Registration Criteria: Varies by authority

Procedure for Obtaining: Varies by authority

Certified Copies Available: Applicants obtain original police clearance certificates from police authorities.

Alternate Documents: There are no alternate documents

Exceptions: None

Comments: Police certificates are only available for Indian nationals and non-Indian nationals currently living in India. Indian police certificates are not available for foreign (non-Indian) nationals applying outside India.

From the comments, it seems that I don't need any police clearance if I don't hold Indian passport. Please correct me if I am wrong.

Thanks for your help in this regard.

My wife was single when she got EB3 visa. She and I are both still in home country and she is traveling to US next week which means she is not PR yet. She becomes PR upon endorsement of her visa (which I understand happens at port of entry upon arrival to US). Her DS260 is locked and we have not added my details as family member. We have mailed Embasy but no response for 2 months. What should we do? Please advise. I have been told my process will be faster if she files for derivative beneficiary prior to leaving home country. How can we do that. We are worried we ll have to live apart for a long time.

So I just realized that I've been in the US for 3+ years with a few months in Europe during this time, but before I apply for the N400 and pay the $725 fee, I want to be sure.

My timeline is as such:

18 September 2018 - GC approved, moved to the US.

1 June 2019 - Family emergency, moved back to Europe.

18 June 2020 - Came to the US, stayed only to 25 July, then back to Europe.

18 November 2020 - Moved to the US and have been here ever since.

Counting from June 18, 2020, this is our 3rd year here with a couple of months out of the country in 2020, July-Nov.

Technically this should be all good and dandy but I still have a feeling I should wait a year or something.

Thoughts, inputs?

Hello.

I need some clarification of the time limits to get citizenship. Our timeline:

  • 7/7/17 Green Card Issued
  • 6/25/18 Moved To US
  • 6/15/20 Moved back to Europe
  • 8/20/20 Went back for biometrics for I-131 Reentry Permit, Issued 11/25/2020
  • 6/25/21 Visited US for 1 month, (was outside of US 10 months)
  • Spring 2022, I myself visited US 3 times for work
  • 6/25/22 Will go back for another 2 weeks

In total we lived 24 months in Florida, and have held green card for almost 5 years now, so we should be eligible to apply for citizenship after moving back for a few months

We are thinking of moving back and stay at least a year and get citizenship, but are all the time we already lived there wasted, and do we need to wait another 5 years if we move today?

Our lawyer who helped with the I-131 application said " As long as you do not exceed staying 12 months in Europe. i.e come back for vacation 1 month each year you're good to go and won't loose any time"

Technically we did not exceed 12 months absence, however I have worked the whole time in Europe, but kept an address and bank accounts in US and filed taxes as well.

From what I can find online I don't believe what my lawyer told me to be accurate. We have been outside for too long and will have to start all over with the 5 years, or are our trips back enough to keep our initial date?

Can I use letters in my native language that doesn't exist in English? (i-129F)

For example a street name in my country (Sweden) can be "Granv gen" but the i-129f document doesn't accept the letter " ". Should I just write the street name as Granvagen (with an "a" instead), or should I try to work around the issue so I'm able to write it out correctly?

Another question, I'm unsure of the row that has the options "Apt.", "Ste.", "Flr", if I lived in an apartment, do I pick Apt or Flr?

Any help is appreciated!
