different "resident from dates"

Hello

The "resident from date" on my conditional green card was 9/XX/2018, but when I received the permanent green card last year, it showed a "resident from date" of 9/XX/2020.... exactly two years difference.

I found out that when applying for naturalization.

So I am confused, Am I eligible to apply for naturalization under the three years rule ( I am married with a US citizen) based on the resident from date on the conditional green card?

Is there a mistake there which I need to correct? How come there are two different "resident from dates"?

Appreciate your advise.

Thanks in advance.

Could visa interviews at US embassies be affected by government shutdown?

I am reading that there is (yet another) government shutdown looming.

Hopefully Congress will act and it won't come to this, but if there is a shutdown on October 1st would it affect visa interviews at US Embassies/Consulates?

(My wife is having her CR1 visa interview on October 4th and the last thing we need is for her to be turned away because of this shutdown)

Since there have been shutdowns before in previous years I am wondering if there is any previous experience on this among the VisaJourneyers?

K1 AOS Interview and Form I-693

Hi

I am a K1 visa holder going through the AOS process. I got my medical examination (March 2020) and vaccination report in overseas before my K1 interview in overseas (March 2020). I moved to USA and got married here (June 2020). I just got my AOS interview notice. In this notice, it says that "If required, a completed Form I-693, Report of Medical Examination and Vaccination Record, in a sealed envolope (unless already submitted). Please see the Form I-693 instructions for guidance on whether you need to complete medical examination, an updated vaccine supplement, or neither"

I reviewed the instructions for Form I-693. There is a section that relates to K1 visa holders. It says that:

What if I am a K nonimmigrant visa holder and already had a medical examination overseas?

If you were admitted as a:

  1. K-1 fianc (e) or a K-2 child of a K-1 fianc (e); or

  2. K-3 spouse of a U.S. citizen or a K-4 child of a K-3 spouse of a U.S. citizen; and

  3. You received a medical examination prior to admission, then:

    1. (1) You are not required to have another medical examination as long as you file your Form I-485 within one year of an overseas medical examination; and

      (a) The panel physician did not find a class A medical condition during your overseas examination; or
      (b) The panel physician did find a class A medical condition, you received a waiver of inadmissibility, and

you have complied with the terms and conditions of the waiver.

    2. (2) Even if a new medical examination is not required, you must still show proof that you complied with thevaccination requirements. If the vaccination record (DS 3025) was not properly completed and included as part of the original overseas medical examination report, you will need to have the Part 10. VaccinationRecord completed by a designated civil surgeon. In this case, you must submit Parts 1. - 5., 7., and 10.

      of Form I-693.

Does this question and explanation relate to the initial AOS application or AOS interview? When I filed my AOS application, I did NOT include any I-693 form because my sealed medical envelope was kept by the the overseas consulate as part of my visa interview.

But for the AOS interview, do I need to get a new medical examination? I am confused because, as explaned here (https://www.uscis.gov/policy-manual/volume-8-part-b-chapter-4#S-C-4), I may be required to bring a new medical examination report (see the part highlighted in boldface)

Timing of the Submission of the Medical Examination Report

Applicants may submit the Form I-693 medical examination report to USCIS:

  • Concurrently with the immigration benefit application; or

  • At any time after filing the immigration benefit application but before USCIS finalizes adjudication of that application. If not submitted simultaneously with the immigration benefit application, applicants may bring the medical examination report to an interview or wait until USCIS issues an RFE requesting the medical examination report.

Any help is appreciated.

Thank you

Hello,

Is there any way how a person check if he is inadmissible to enter/immigrate to states?

Can that person make a FOIA request to DOS or USCIS and ask straightfoward?

Thank you
