Good evening to everyone! I got married in US and now we're filling out document for AOS. I have some questions. Part about Criminal acts and violations. 6 years ago in Russia my friend and I we were arrested for couple of hours (until the police filled out all documentation and gave us a fine) because we were drinking champagne on the street what is a CIVIL violation. I guess my answer is YES for question 25; NO for question 26; and YES for question 27? Will this situation be a problem? Should i attach explanation what kind of violation it was or just wait before the interview? Russian police doesn't even have a records for it, cause it was 6 years ago and they keep it for only 2 years. What should i answer for question 28 if we been escorted for police office and waiting there for them filling the fine documentation and then they gave us fine and let us go? I don't think it was arrest, but i'm not sure. And question 30, i don't know if this alcohol violation was related with "controlled substance"? Also idk what will be answer for question 49 and 50, if my husbund and me visited shooting range in US and i fired a pistol and i want to do it again in the future? I guess it YES for both questions? Thank you, guys!

So I am about to file a late I-751. This is my letter of explanation. Can you please review and make suggestions? Late Filing, Letter Of Explanation March 17, 2021 Dear Sir or Madam, Please excuse this late filing of Form I-751 for Kadriya Sitdikova. Her expiration date was 03/24/2020. At that time, I (her husband) lost my job due to COVID-19 reasons and I filed for unemployment but unfortunately, it was not properly processed, and I never ended up receiving any unemployment benefits. So we were struggling financially at that time. As of today, we have received our stimulus payment provided by President Biden and I am able to afford the filing fee. Sincerely, Gregory A Gum And Kadriya Sitdikova

Me again (le sigh). I had my N400 interview today (based on 3 year marriage). My I-751 is also pending. At the interview I was told that my I-751 case was still in the NJ field office (we temporarily relocated there in the summer before settling in VT in the fall) therefore only N400 part could be done today. N400 was very short & sweet but at the end of the interview I got a paper stating that I a) completed my civic test; b) decision on my N400 application could not be made at this time. The office (kudos to everyone in VT field office by the way - incredible nice people) told me that once they receive my I-751 case from NJ, they will either (and most likely according to the lady interviewing me) approve it on the spot or will call my husband and I for another interview if they have any additional questions. I'm guessing this shouldn't be surprising given that this is a 3-year exception based application; however I don't think I've seen others in a similar situation (where N400 approval depended on I-751 approval) and was just wondering if anyone has and can share this experience?

My parents divorced when I was a kid and I stayed with my mother while my father moved to the U.S. My father became a U.S. citizen and I immigrated when I was 16 years old and got my Green Card. I'm now 24 and finally decided to obtain a U.S. passport. For those wondering why I did not obtain my passport earlier, I'll just say it wasn't that easy. My home country does not allow dual citizenship and I had to visit my mother once in a while, so I was okay with my Green Card. But now my national passport is about to expire, so I decided to get a U.S passport. I applied a few months ago (even though I paid for the expedited service, which is supposed to be 4-6 weeks and I still haven't gotten my passport). They asked for my parents divorce certificate and evidence of legal and physical custody. I provided a lot of evidence for the physical custody, which was easy to collect, such as medical records, tax documents, school records that specify my father as my guardian. For the legal custody, I translated and notarized my mother's written agreement that states that she gives her permission for me to live with my father, which was written when I was leaving my home country at the age of 16. However, nothing happened for months, and my application was still "in process" according to the Passport Center website. I wrote them a letter and received a phone call a few days later. They said that I provided proof for the physical custody but they need a court decision specifying legal custody. I explained that my home country does not give such court decision when parents divorce, unless there is a disagreement and one parent sues another. They said that they need to talk to their legal department to resolve this issue and see if my documents would be sufficient. Just wanted to ask if anyone had the same problem and how it resolved for you? What documents did you provide for the legal custody? And how long did this process take for you?
