My wife's visa issuance was delayed due to an expired Qatar PCC (not actually expired, because it was issued less than 2 years ago and she has not left the Philippines since it was issued but the consular officer is requiring an unexpired copy). Qatar takes 2 to 3 months to issue. Last time, it took them a full 2 months. We don't expect the embassy to be fast about reviewing it and issuing her visa. Her medical will expire January 15.

If her visa is in hand by, say, January 12, and she won't enter the U.S. on or before January 15, what do we do? I understand she will need an updated medical, but how does this work? Do they give her the results in a sealed envelope since her visa is already in hand, or is her visa technically expired and she must restart the process again? If the latter is the case, then should we get an updated medical by mid-December if she still doesn't have her visa in hand so that it will not expire? This whole thing is sort of incredible. She was told that even though she had her interview, and all the other documents were verified, and she has a 221g for the Qatar PCC, if any other documents have expired by the time she sends her Qatar PCC, she must also update those. It's like a rolling refusal. Well, it feels like it anyway. But off the sniveling and on to taking care of the business. I get it. Her visa isn't issued until it's issued, and this will require administrative review.

Hello! So we recently a couple weeks ago sent off our K1 packet! We included all sorts of evidence like a certificate of engagement, pictures, engagement ring receipt Now though we just remembered that when we got the engagement ring we thought it would be cute to put my (Petitioner) last name with my fianc e s first name on the sold to section. Will this be a red flag to USCIS or what can we do about this? We re both worried that we ll get rejected because of this! We would have never sent that piece of evidence if we had remembered what we put for the name. Please help!

Last year when we uploaded to the NVC, I uploaded the tax transcripts for the previous years and then my 2022 Tax 1040 Return and W2 (I had just filed). We are getting ready for our interview, and I have now since uploaded my 2022 and 2023 tax transcripts to the CEAC. Because of the numerous lists going around that state you have to have your returns, W2's and transcripts my wife wants me to upload our 2023 taxes and my W2's which I don't believe are necessary because all of the info from the 1040 and W2 is in the transcript, and they are not going to ask for them. To make matters worse I don't have a copy of the signed tax return just the filled out one without our signatures on them. We have time and I can resign them and scan them but... do I really need to? My understanding is they may ask to see a copy of any uploaded document. If I have my transcript uploaded, then I have the required document and that would be the only thing they would ask for... they wouldn't ask for the 1040 or the W2 since they have all that info in the transcript, and it isn't uploaded. I also understand that they would rather have the transcript and not the 1040/W2.

Make it make sense for me. Sorry for the ramble.

My wife had her interview today. Her Qatar PCC was applied for last June 2023. It was received in August 2023, and it was received expired. (They are good for 90 days from date of issue, evidently.) No worries, right? Because the immigration process is ridiculously long, they are by the Department of State's own rules valid indefinitely, e.g. "Police certificates expire after two years, unless the certificate was issued from your country of previous residence and you have not returned there since the police certificate was issued."

The consul who interviewed her today said it was expired. Gave her a 221g. She's smart, and she requested to speak to a supervisor. She was told there is nothing they can do and escorted out of the embassy.

By the time she receives her next Qatar PCC, her medical will likely also be expired. They really make this as impossible as they can. Best of luck to everyone, and congratulations to those who manage to make it.

Does the CO expect to see proof of return flight such as reservations or flight itinerary? If so, what is the accepted way of obtaining that without purchasing tickets? I have seen multiple companies offering dummy tickets but they seem sketchy and from reviews not always reliable.
