I did a search on this and found very conflicting information. i dont know why there is such conflict with what to use. On the DS160 application, travel page, Application Receipt/Petition Number, what do i use here? USCIS petition number or NVC case number? Both are 3 letter followed by 10 digits. doing a forum search the top few results i found showed very conflicting info. What should i use?

Thanks yall!

Hello everyone i petition my son over 21 few years ago and I received a letter from Uscis saying my petition for my son got RFE due to late registration of his birth and second I m using my hubby family name which different to my son family name coz my son is from my previous married.I do all the paperwork s I sent back to the Uscis of what the name together with the proof that I did my DNA testing here in the US but still waiting for the test of my son from my country where my son is.As what the DNA clinic says here in the US that the USEM in Manila will be the one to received the kit and maybe check or process before the will forward it to St.Luke for my son to do the testing, it s been quite awhile already since I do my testing here my questioned is,is there any way that I can contact USEM to check about the kits that the received from the LAb here in the US second is St. Luke open for bussiness?Hope anyone can help me with this problems I m really worry as I already sent my RFE docs back to Uscis but I only include the proof that I do my DNA test without my son DNA test and the result.Again everyone I hope you can enlightened my worried mind as I know Uscis is very strict at the moment it took me few months to do all the paperwork s for what the need hoping I don t encounter any other problems.just ask some good advice here what I m gonna do.thanks

September 2020 - AOS Filers

Another month another round of AOS submissions. Please be aware the fee will increase, due to take effect October 2, 2020, best get your packets in as early as you can to avoid the increase which is substantial.

AOS Checklist

  • Cover Letter listing Table of Contents
  • (Check Payable to U.S. Department of Homeland Security - $1,225.00)

Form I-485 (completed and signed by non-US Citizen/beneficiary)

  • Form G-1145
  • Form I-944 (Declaration of Self-Sufficiency with applicable supporting documents.) (As of this posting this form is not required due to the injunction; however, this form has been a thorn in the pants. I recommend to fill this form out and get it ready, less paying the fees for equivalency documents). Better to have it ready in case the injunction does not hold and USCIS reinstates this form like it has been before. Again this form is NOT REQUIRED as of this posting!!!!!
  • Copy of beneficiary's Passport with biographical page
  • Copy of beneficiary's K1 Visa from Passport and entry stamp
  • Copy of NOA2 Approval letter (from K1 process)
  • I-94
  • Copy of beneficiary's Birth Certificate
  • translation of birth certificate (if needed)
  • Certified copy of Marriage License
  • Passport Photos (2) name written on the back
  • Copy of DS-3025
  • Be sure to use the correct filing code of (c)(9) if this code applies to you. The I-485 instructions explains all the codes in detail. If you are filing under a different code (other than (c)(9) the fee for your AOS will not be correct and USCIS will reject your entire packet.

Form I-864 (completed and signed by USC) (goes with form I-485)

  • Proof of USC's citizenship (copy of birth certificate, copy of passport bio page, or other)
  • 2019, 2018 (optional), and 2017 (optional) Tax Return (with W-2) or Transcripts (transcripts are better if you can get them)
  • Employment Verification letter (updated one - not the one used during K1 process)
  • Pay stubs (last 3 months)

Form I-765 (completed and signed by non-US Citizen/beneficiary)

  • Copy of beneficiary's Passport with biographical page
  • Copy of beneficiary's K1 Visa from Passport and entry stamp
  • I-94
  • Passport Photos (2) name written on the back
  • Copy of NOA2 (from K1 process)

Form I-131 (completed and signed by non-US Citizen/beneficiary)

  • Copy of beneficiary's Passport with biographical page
  • Copy of beneficiary's K1 Visa from Passport and entry stamp
  • I-94
  • Passport Photos (2) name written on the back
  • Copy of NOA2 (from K1 process

Be sure to double check for the current fees as fees do sometimes increase, so please check. Additionally check the forms as listed above i.e., current version and or edition date, there has been many changes to various forms. Consider sending tax transcripts instead of the 1040, and W2's. Also consider preparing a cover letter for each form in addition to the main cover letter.

Make sure you send long form birth certificates and not the short form. Hope this helps in your preparation of your AOS. When in doubt ask questions.

Please consider filing the I-131 and the I-765 even if you don't think you'll need them right now. You never know what changes your life will have on down the road, so I recommend you file these two forms from the start. There is no extra charge to file them with your AOS and it's much much easier to submit them all at once.
