Affidavit of support and covid-19 related layoffs

Hello and forgive me if this is in the wrong section, this is my first posting.

I work, did work for 19 years and 7 months, at a regional airline that is now closed because of the virus.

I received my NOA 1 on April 4th.

I was wondering if anybody had any experience or insight proving income being recently laid off and most if not all local work pays at or just below the minimum required.

And then maybe having a gap of employment while going to school to train for a new career field.

I was thinking of trying to find the best paying job doing anything near where I currently live and then when my fiance finally gets her visa and we get married I can try and find an aviation related job somewhere else in the US and move.

Maybe even taking a few months to get my CDL and start driving trucks.

I'm not sure what to do.

Any ideas or help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

OCTOBER 2020 I-129F K-1 FILERS

For those who have just filed your I-129f application with USCIS, this thread has been created for your needs and for you to be with others experiencing different aspects of this journey. This is a place to ask questions and to share experiences. All are here to learn together. Good luck because this is a long process currently running 5-6 months from filing date for your NOA2 approval.

https://www.uscis.gov/sites/default/files/K1_Process_V11.pdf

Also, since your application will go through a number of background checks this is a primer on what goes on with the background process.

I know it really sucks, but the best way to get through this is to lower your expectations and try not to compare your timeline to anyone else's. Don't forget that the people here on Visa Journey represent a tiny percentage of all the petitions the CSC has to work through! When someone gets to your file you'll hear from them. Stay busy, talk a lot with your fianc about non-visa stuff, don't forget to hang out with your friends, take up a new hobby, go to a sporting event, and your time will come! Good luck

The explanation why is it taking so long.

When will US Embassy Manila reopen? (ACS)

Does anyone have any idea or insight into when USEM will fully re-open? I am a USC living in the Philippines and hoping to marry my fianc here as soon as possible. We were initially deciding between a K1 & CR1 visa, landed on a CR1, but are already hitting a roadblock unable to get a marriage license until I can get an Affidavit in Lieu of Legal Capacity to Contract Marriage from the embassy. The embassy is partially open but not for these affidavits (according to their official updates). I was holding out hope that this service would resume on October 1, but received an update two days ago that it remains suspended.

Is it worth it to contact the embassy and inquire directly? Does anyone that has experience with this affidavit know if it s possible to be done remotely or with a proxy? (I assume not...)

I realize these are unprecedented times, and many are struggling far more than I (such as those separated from their partners). I just feel so frustrated and hate being stuck in limbo, with no information from the embassy more than a few days out and no ability to prepare for our future.
