US Immigration from Philippines

So, after my wife was naturalized, she sent in her papers to get her passport. That was received. (She's so excited). However, when the passport agency sent back her naturalization document, it was practically destroyed by rain. (Water damage). She devastated. I know you can get a replacement for a few hundred dollars ($600 or $700 I think). Has this happened to anyone else?

Do I have any other options?

My wife is awaiting her visa interview in Manila and since today I was under the impression that only an NBI clearance was needed for the beneficiary.

She just told me that she saw other petitioners posting that some CFO counselors are asking for FBI clearance from the petitioner. Is this a new process they are implanting that I m unaware of. I can t find much I formation online about it but from what I can tell this is coming not from the US side, but the Filipino government. Should I go ahead and obtain this clearance just in case? The application is only $18 but the fingerprint fee is $50 so I d rather not waste the money if it s not even an issue. Any information would be appreciated.

Hi! Two questions:

1) What would my wife type in the DS260 if she applied for a new passport with my (her husband's) last name? Would she type her name from her old passport or the new one? Especially since she used information from her old passport during the i-130 stage.

2) The DS260 application is asking my wife if she applied for a Social Security Number. Does an ITIN count as a Social Security Number? We're currently applying for an ITIN for tax purposes right now.

Well, the Journey is over. My wife became a US citizen on July 1st 2025.

When we started this, I was just looking for information about the different visa options. And stumbled on to this site.

Little did I know, that I would actually find a "second" family of friends, helpful resources and people willing to actually help a Newby along the way.

We did all the paperwork from beginning to end ourselves; and yes some mistakes were made that costs time and money but it was learning experience and I hope that anyone reading our timeline, learns how to avoid them and make the right moves for their journey.

Special thanks to @Hank who hasn't been online in a couple years but I think was the most informed person here on anything about the Philippines and to all the ones that answered my questions no matter how simple they seemed to be.

Although we have made to the end of our rainbow, I will be checking in and hopefully get to use the things I have learned to help others along their Visa Journey.

Hello all,

My fiance completed her TB Treatment back on September 04, 2024. Slec has previously advised us to come back a year after. I already scheduled her next medical exam on September 8 2025.

My questions are:

1) Do I need to pay for the medical exam although we already paid for the 1st exam?

2) Is it ok to just schedule my next medical examination, as I stated above?

3) What do I do with K-1 Visa since it is expired?

4) Do I need to redo my D160?

5) What other things do we need to work on?

I truly appreciate your assistance with this.
