Hello,

I filed form I-129F in January of 2023, but I made a mistake on the form. In section 3, question 4.a I marked it as "no". I do not have any criminal convictions, but I had forgot about a case from 1999. The case was for telephone harassment, and it was dismissed without a trial. In February of 2023 I sent USCIS a letter explaining the error, and the information that should be included for question 4.a and 4.b. I also included a newly signed I-129F that was correctly filled out, a certified case disposition that shows the dismissal, and the case files from the county clerks office. The petition was approved in November of 2023 and in January of 2024 I received an email from VisaIV-AIT@state.gov, and its apparently from the embassy in Taiwan. The email appears to be intended for my fianc but they sent it to my email instead. The email included a PDF attachment. The PDF contains the approved I-129F and the criminal case files that I mailed to USCIS in February of 2023. The approved I-129F however still showed Part 3 question 4.a marked as "no". Since they included the criminal case files that I mailed to them then is it possible that they also included the amended I-129F and my letter in my visa petition case files? I'm really worried that my fianc is going to waste her time at her visa interview next month.

I am a Philippine immigrant and now a U.S. Citizen living in the U.S.
I would like to bring my niece and 2nd cousin (age 13 and 9 respectively) to the U.S. on F1 Student Visa's in order to complete their education to include college.

Has anyone done this recently? If so, can you please share your experiences.

I understand the basic particulars and restrictions for F1 Visa's.

However, I sure could use some advice when it comes to getting starting and the basic steps in completing this task.

Thanks in advance.
L.

True or False?

Hello, all. Gly and I have passed our interview, medical and CFO and I booked her ticket to the U.S. for March 2nd. That parts true, lol. What I am concerned about now is that Gly said that she saw someone mention in a you tube video that she will have to undergo ANOTHER interview by immigration at the Cebu airport before she can leave. The video said we would have to prove our relationship to immigration and that they want a " Guarantee of support form" signed and notarized from me before her flight and that it has to be original and not a copy. Has anyone else experienced any of this? because I haven't seen anything like this mentioned anywhere here and neither of us have heard of such a thing until now. From my understanding all she needed to depart was her passport, visa, CFO certificate and a receipt for her travel tax to board the plane. Now we are both panicing because her flight is just a little more than 2 weeks away and there's no way I can send her an original, notarized document in time for her flight day. I emailed Ph Immigration to ask them but haven't gotten a reply yet. I am hoping that video she saw is all false info. I thought thats why I filed the I-134. If they need that, we only have the photocopies.

Name Change for K1

Hello, my fianc e came to the U.S on a K1 visa. We got legally married on Friday, but it still has her maiden name on the wedding certificate since that is how my state does things. We are not sure what to put on the adjustment of status when filling out her name. As many of you will know, Filipino naming conventions have your maiden last name shift to your middle name where your mother's maiden name used to be. (i.e if your maiden name was Jane Smith Doe and you marry a man named John Brown, you'll become Jane Doe Brown by Filipino rules.) So basically what I am asking is, when we fill out the adjustment of status paperwork (I-485) do we put Jane Smith Doe or Jan Doe Brown? If that makes sense. My fianc e found a source while googling that says she cannot legally change her middle name until she becomes a U.S citizen, so just wondering if any other Filipinos can chime in with their experience.

We thought we could change it when she applies for a Social Security Number, but our local office wouldn't let us apply for one in person, so our only option is to check the box on the I-485 to request one, but it does not ask what name you want associated with your social. So we just assume it will use the name on the I-485. Which just brings me back to our original question of which name to use. Thank you in advance, sorry if this post is confusing.
