K1 then CR1

Hello everyone,

I'm planning to go to U.S next month on a K1 visa. Since my situation changed, I will just come for the wedding and honeymoon for about a month then go back to my home country.

I know you can't leave without a parole card or green card but that's why we will go on the CR1 route afterward (we both know that will be another whole waiting game and money, but we're fine with it)

Please help me with these questions:

  1. Will it become a red flag for me to apply to CR1 after K1?
  2. Will USCIS/Embassy be suspicious of why I apply CR1 after K1?
  3. What are documents I can gather while I'm in the states?
  4. Can we submit our documents right away although I'm still in the U.S or we should wait until I leave the country?
  5. Since I will live apart from my partner, should we still need a joint bank account? or medical insurance or mortgage under our both names? would that be necessary?

Thank you!

Visa Interview vs Immigration interview upon entry

Hello, I've got a couple questions about documentation and the process when an individual is 1) being interviewed for the visa before approval; 2) when a person is being interviewed at immigration upon entry into the US.

  1. A number of guides I have read online have mentioned the need for documentation of employment or business ownership, tax returns, bank statements showing sufficient funds to cover travel expenses and travel itinerary. Is this documentation something that is inspected at the visa application interview, or at immigration upon entry into the US?
  2. I've heard that the interview at immigration upon entry into the US can be pretty tough, and they try to catch people out, and sometimes turn people away and send them home on the next flight. Is this true? Is this interview more challenging/grueling than the visa application interview, or vice-versa?
  3. If the initial visa application is for a short duration, say a 10 day visit, and then the visitor decides they want to stay longer, is it best to make that change before or after arriving in the US?
  4. Is the B2 visa always a 10 year, multiple entry visa for 180 stays per visit, or is it sometimes for a shorter period of time or only single entry, etc.?

Thank you

We've completed the application form for the visa, and now there is a 120 day wait for the interview in Jakarta. Is there any way to shorten this wait?

Hi all. I was looking at the fee for the I-751 adjustment of status and planning on sending a money order. However I looked at the updated offices and fees and for Phoenix, Arizona (where I will send the application) it says that these offices will only accept payments in the form of (listed below) money order is not on that list. So does this mean they won t accept a money order?

Filing for I-751 and drivers license expires

Hi all,

my husbands California drivers license expires 10/2/2021 the same time his 2 year green card expires. We just got a renewal notice in the mail for his drivers license from the dmv. I m pretty certain we wouldn t be able to renew the drivers license without an extension of the green card as well right? My question is do we have to file the I-751 and then wait till we get the receipt that they received it and will that be efficient enough for the DMV? Or do they actually need to extend his green card before the dmv will issue him another drivers license ? Hope this all makes sense! He has a job and needs to be able to drive to work and I know with the processing times it can take a while! Thank you so much!
