US Immigrant Visa - EB3 (Jakarta/Montreal)

Hello! I'm a new member and just found this thread recently. I used to lurk around Reddit but seems not many people talked about it in the Immigration/USCIS thread. So I'm here to try out my luck and to inquire some information on timeline/experience in regards to Immigrant Visa specifically Employment Based.

Long story short: I'm an Indonesian citizen who is sponsored by my U.S. company for EB-3 (I'm in tech). I'm currently residing in Canada (Toronto). I'm still in the process of preparing to file I-140 (PP) at the moment, and my company's lawyer mentioned that I can take the Immigrant Visa interview either in Jakarta or Montreal. However, they don't have any insight as to which one is more timely efficient/safer. So I have done a little digging into the Montreal consulate, and I have been hearing EBs are definitely not prioritized right now and the wait time is backlogged for 2 years. Not only that, many are also placed in administrative processing (I'm not sure if this applied to Canadian only?). I'm not sure if these information is an accurate reflection of Montreal embassy or not. On the other hand, I can't find a single information about the Jakarta consulate nor anyone talked about it.

Therefore, I'm here to see if anyone has ever gone through the interview in Jakarta? If so what's the timeline looks like for getting your interview scheduled after your I-140 is approved or receiving the NVC welcome letter? Also those who have gone through the Montreal consulate, care if you share the same? I'd highly appreciate any response.

Thank you.

Failure to Appear at Interview - Never received Notification of Interview

The next speed bump on this arduous process...

I filed N400 in August 2022, and received several notifications about biometrics being waived, but never any notifications about a scheduled interview. Today (Dec 29, 2022) I received a notification that I failed to appear for an in-person interview on Dec 20, 2022, which I was not aware had been scheduled. I did not receive a letter nor an email notification about an interview. It says I need to respond within 30 days of the notification (which took 8 days to arrive by USPS).

I've read some other posts about this, but am planning to address this from 3 angles:

1. I filed a e-request regarding a missing notification on the USCIS website.
2. I will call the USCIS Contact Center in the morning.
3. I will mail a letter response to the National Benefit Center PO Box in Lee's Summit MO.

Do I need to take other actions to clear this up and get a rescheduled interview? I would hate to have to restart this entire process and repay fees because of a missing notification letter...

I understand the program is fairly recent.

I created mine today but won't use it until we go in March. It also allows payment with a debit or credit card.

221g document follow-up, am I overthinking this?

Hi all,

I sent follow-up documents around two weeks ago to the consulate section, using the mail carrier that was approved by the US consulate (Canada post). Today I found out you can send it via the courier service that they provided, and I've only updated my status in the ais.usvisainfo site today to "Consulate section has requested more documents.", and now my current status is "Send Documents", something I've already done.

Will this incur a delay and will they even accept it if I don't send it via the courier service?

Thank you in advance

Hello everyone!

Just some background on our case, we received our NOA2 on September 21st after a very long wait (we applied July 2021). After no information from the NVC, I sent an email to the NVC research email (NVCResearch@state.gov) and got a response within a few days saying they received our petition and to wait for further instructions via mail. That was over three weeks ago and still nothing. I sent another email yesterday and got a response today with a case number (progress!) but that's it. I put the number into the CEAC website and it says our case is at the NVC. I guess my question is how much longer until we get that letter and email detailing the final steps to the interview? Is there any action required on my part right now? I'm finalizing documents including the i-134 to send to my fianc e in Indonesia, and if I'm not mistaken, I don't have any fees to pay now. Just a lot of waiting, just passed two months since our NOA2. Thanks for any help!
