Hi, I was reading about the next steps we need to take after becoming a US Citizen, and on the USCIS website it says that we should wait at least 10 days after the oath ceremony to update our social security. I was wondering if waiting 10 days after the oath ceremony to update my social security is a requirement or a suggestion? Ideally I would like to update it right after my oath ceremony since the social security office is across the street from where the oath ceremony is held. Is doing all of this on the same day possible?

Hey all, my green card was approved months ago (see timeline below). Last week the status on my I131 changed to Case closed benefit obtained by other means and then immediately to Case reopened and Case approved. I received the approval notice in the mail yesterday. Once I receive the AP document, what do I do? I know I have to hand it back to USCIS, do I contact my local field office or the NVC? thanks!

Hey guys, curious if someone could help out here. I m in a little bit of a tricky spot. i need to get a new social security card for a car loan (misplaced mine), but I had the unfortunate situation that my sent NOA got lost in travel. i talked to USCIS today and a service request was made but will probably not receive my new notice until 30 days. i know, in order to get a new social security card, you need to prove status of residence, but right now my greencard is expired. Any ideas how I could go about getting a new Social Security Card asap?

Hello all, My USC wife and I recently got approved for DCF and we have submitted the I-130 package to the embassy. My wife would like to go back to the US at this point in time and wait for me to come after I get approved for LPR. I am wondering if my wife needs to be here in my home country for any further step of the DCF process such as the interview etc? Thanks in advance!
