My husband's interview date was October 14, 2025 at 7:30am. We arrived at the consulate at 7:15am and a line was already formed by the time we got there. Thankfully, they have outdoor heaters to help keep you warm as it was chilly that morning.
They had 2 windows open so the line moved pretty fast. When we arrived at the window outside the consulate, they asked for his interview letter, DS-260 confirmation page and both our passports. They returned our passports, gave me a pass card to get in and issued him a number. We made our way through security, which was like going through airport security. We didn't bring anything with us to the consulate other than our folder of legal documents and passports so security was a breeze for us.
Another man ahead of us, brought in his cell phone and security gave him a slip and told him he could get his phone back when he left.

My appointment was for 8:30. I arrived around 15 minutes early. A long line had already formed in front of the security checkpoint by then. To get in, I needed to show my DS-160 confirmation page and passport at the security window. I then received a number and instructions to take a seat at windows 15 - 21.
There was an additional line by the entrance, but getting through security didn't take very long. My advice: Bring only your paperwork, if you can. People in line with backpacks were told in no uncertain terms that packed clothing items and such cannot be brought into the consulate. If you're carrying more on you than what is absolutely necessary, you might add more stress to an already stressful appointment.
I've read in reviews from other consulates that mobile phones are sometimes allowed in. This is not the case in Frankfurt. Any electronic devices must be handed over at the security checkpoint and you get a receipt to retrieve them later on.

Hallo allemaal, Sorry, ik heb geen tijdlijn, wij zijn al bijna 3 jaar bezig met het K1 visum door allerlei tegenslagen. Nu eindelijk hebben we in September het D-160 formulier kunnen inzenden. Maar de ellende houdt niet op, ik probeer nu op alle mogelijkheden mijn fee te betalen en een afspraak in Frankfurt. Iedere keer dat ik probeer in te loggen of de site geeft een error of gooit mij eruit of loopt vast enz. Ik heb gemaild en online gechat met Frankfurt maar ook die konden niet verder helpen. Ligt dit nou aan mij? Doe ik iets verkeerd? Ik lees overal dat het zo makkelijk gaat maar ik ben nu al weer weken bezig en de deadline komt akelig dichtbij. Ik ben helaas niet meer zo superjong en heb M.E. waardoor concentreren en presteren onder spanning en stress heel moeilijk is. Het mooiste voor mij zou zijn als iemand zei, zo en zo betaal je je visum, zo en zo maak je een afspraak en zo en zo heb je een afspraak bij een arts in je buurt.
