I am 34, female, and I live in the Netherlands. My fiance lives in Pennsylvania.
I had my medical exam in Amsterdam on 19 February. On the website it says the results get send to Frankfurt in 5 office days, but at the medical exam itself they said it was between 5 and 10 office days.
They only sent my results the day before around 16:30 so I had been super stressed out they wouldn't send it in time. I would definitely have scheduled the medical exam earlier had I known.
My interview was scheduled at Thursday 5 March at 8:00.
Because I read several reviews here saying there were long lines, I thought it would be best to be there early.
I stayed in a hotel nearby, so I left my bag at the Imbiss kiosk next to the tram station on the same street.
I arrived at the consulate at 7:05. A man was there to greet everyone and tell them which line to wait in. There were five people waiting before me. It was a little cold but there was a ... read complete review

Some info first:
- French citizen living in Germany.
- My medical was on November 26th and consulate interview on December 2nd which was enough time but I'd advise to have more time in between just in case.
- I was at the consulate from 07:40 until 09:40.
My interview was at 08:00 so I stayed at a nearby hotel the night before.
I arrived in front of the consulate at 07:40. A long line had already formed outside and it took about 25 minutes of waiting before I entered the building. You'll have to show your passport and appointment confirmation in order to be let in.
Once you enter, you will go through security just like at an airport. You have to turn off your electronics. They will keep them and return them to you after the interview.
You will then walk to the main building. I sat down in the waiting area but I only had to wait a few minutes before being called a first time to a window. There, the consulate worker asked... read complete review

Here’s everything I learned from my fiancé about his interview at the consulate.
His appointment was for 8am on Thursday, Nov 6, 2025. He took the train (from his town near Munich) to Frankfurt the day before his appointment, as many people on VisaJourney had advised. He stayed in a nearby (overpriced) hotel and had some quality hotel sauna time to relax, and then a nice free breakfast in the morning before heading to the embassy. If you like saunas, it might be nice to make a trip of it to relax a little.
I reminded him to stay hydrated all day to keep his mind sharp for the next day!
He arrived at the embassy at 7:20am thinking he was awkwardly early (and it was cold out), but there was already a “sea” of people outside. He made it through security and to his seat in the waiting area right at 8.
He overhead someone having trouble turning off her Apple watch at security. He’d brought a nonsmart watch, as people in th... read complete review
