US Immigration from Canada

Hello,

I'm a Canadian Citizen and I recently moved for work to the US and I'm on a TN visa. I want to sell some stocks that I received prior coming to the US from my previous company. Do I need to pay taxes to the US?

(The broker I'm using is US based, and it's telling me that I need to fill out either the W-9 or W-8BEN form. I previously always filled out W-8BEN form because I lived in Canada. Now I'm not sure. Based on IRS website I'm considered nonresident alien.)

My nexus card is about to expire in May and have been looking to renew it for a while. I'm in the process of removing conditions (applying for the 10 year green card) and have gotten a 18 month extension in the mean time.

In the application, it asks for the expiry date of my green card and because it is expired. I am not sure which expiry date to include?

Is there a trick to getting through and speaking with a live agent? Every time I call, an automated system asks me what I need help with, I ve tried everything including speak to a live agent and cannot be put through.

Has anyone here had experience with applying for an O1 visa as a fine artist? While I am personally going through the CR-1 path right now, a close friend has become engaged to a well-known individual in the film industry in the US and is a very successful painter in their own right, earning a respectable living with solely the profits of their paintings. While many are sold through a Canadian gallery, there are many others that are done by private transaction. So having an "employer" sponsorship in the US is not feasible with someone who freelances.

While they've been in talks with lawyers (and they will hire one), I've offered to post here on their behalf because I know how overwhelming the process is. They're trying to find out if there's a better way to stay legally in the US faster than a K-1 or CR-1 so this may be a faster option. They're currently together in LA now until Feb so as not to overstay the B2 visa.

If using an agent for sponsorship, what kind of requirements are there? They likely would have no trouble getting references from people in their field and they have a degree in fine arts as well.

Any summary or advice anyone here can give while they're also looking for lawyers who specialize in this would be greatly appreciated because Visa Journey folks have been such an invaluable resource during my own journey.

Just wanted to see if anyone has used a lawyer in Honolulu or know of anyone they'd recommend?

I filed for I-751 lifting of conditions back in June 2018 and I received a notice that is a little.. concerning?

I've been able to handle all immigration applications myself but this is a situation I'd rather have professional help with.
