My husband (US petitioner) applied for the I-130 online august 20th, 2020. A few weeks later, since I was already here in FL with him I decided to AOS and mailed in the rest of the forms. I received receipt notices for all However today we received a I-797 Notice of Action stating the I-130 has been approved and that my husband needs to log on to pay the affidative of support fee (120$) and I need to pay the IV application processing fee (325$)... Sorry I am just a little confused... do I go ahead and pay these fees and continue with the next steps? (I thought this was if I was returning back to Canada for a visa) I thought the next step was going to be a biometrics appointment since I decided to AOS.. any Info would be helpful!! thanks!

Hi, I am awaiting the CR/IR-1 interview in Montreal this December. My husband and I were married since 2018 and my husband filed tax return in 2018 separately. However, we decided to file jointly in 2019 and then the pandemic hit. I could not travel to US to file ITIN ( which requires your passport to file ITIN). My husband filed the tax return extension for 2019. I do have my husband's W2, pay stubs, and evidence of tax extension request. Are those enough to bring for the interview?

Hi, I spoke with a USCIS agent today via live chat, but it took all morning even to get basic questions answered. I haven't found any forum post that addresses this directly, so just for your information, in case your situation is similar: - If your biometrics appointment location is at a significant distance from where you are situated; - If you want to know if it will be open the day of your appointment ; - If there is inclement weather; Then check the following webpage: https://www.uscis.gov/about-us/uscis-office-closings I see that the appointment itself will automatically be rescheduled in such a case, but it is helpful to be able to check on this site the morning of, to see if the center will actually be open.

Hi there, We just got our NOA this past Saturday for a Biometrics appointment on December 24th at 3 p.m. We were very surprised at this; didn't know they are working on the afternoon of Christmas Eve. They say I need only bring the appointment notice, my passport, and a driver's license. Will they accept a Canadian driver's license? Just wanted to make sure I show up with all necessary documentation and not be turned away. I went to the Michigan Secretary of State Office to get a Michigan driver's license last summer, but they needed a social-security number from me, and I won't have that until I get at least an EAD. I tried calling USCIS's 1-800 number this morning to reach someone, but they are almost impossible to reach. Hence my asking here... will the documentation I plan on bringing be enough. Thanks!

Hi there, We're in the final stages of I-485; biometrics appointment coming up very soon. Just wondering if anyone else has actually used USCIS's 1-800 number. The computer you have to speak with before getting to an agent has extremely limited capabilities. If you say "Speak with an agent," the computer says "I can help you, etc." but of course, it can't really; responses are extremely basic (why the heck else would I be calling unless I needed to speak with someone about a series of very specific questions?). If you ask anything specific, the computer has no idea what to respond and trails off with a bunch of generic information you can easily look up online in two minutes. If you say "Speak with an agent" more than two or three times, the computer says, "I'm sorry, but it looks like I won't be able to help you today. I am ending this call." I tried three different times this morning, to no avail. Frustrating, to say the least. I did get through to an agent a few months ago; I was placed on hold for no more than fifteen minutes. I don't remember how I got past this dragon of a computer guarding the entrance (which was obviously placed there intentionally to make it as difficult as possible for anyone to reach a live person), nor what sequence I used, but something worked. Does anyone have any tips? Has anyone had a similar experience? What worked for you? Thanks!
