Has anyone started a new job with an extension letter? |

I'm looking for a new job, and I'm realizing that I really should have removed the "valid with DHS authorization only" line from my SSN card. I called the local SSA office, and they said that they will not send me a clean card with an extension letter, so I have to wait. I have an expired green card, the extension letter, and the cursed SSN card. I know I'm legally able to proceed, but am I going to have any trouble with new employers? I'm sure it's case by case, but has anyone had good or bad stories you can share?

So, we had an approved K1 application last year. I came to visit my fianc , and due to restrictions etc, we decided to get married and file AOS. We filed Sept 2020, and sent an email to the NVC to withdraw our K1. The NVC replied to my husband (petitioner), saying to send in a signed letter and marriage certificate, so we did so. They did not respond. My Canadian address received the letter from the NVC saying my case was forwarded to the Montreal embassy last week. We emailed both the NVC and the Embassy. The NVC said contact the embassy. I forwarded my husbands email he sent to the NVC to the Montreal embassy and explained the situation. I did this last week and have not heard back. Should we be concerned? Or just retain an email trail for my interview? I ve already done biometrics for my AOS....and received the RFE for the I944. thanks

Hi everyone! I've been looking into all of the various ways to move to the USA and I wanted to run by my (proposed) idea for the best way to do it for my situation. About me: I am a Canadian citizen currently living in Toronto. My wife has been a Canadian Permanent Resident since March of 2018 and is also a US citizen. We have lived together in Canada since that time. However, we would like to move to California in the near future and are now looking at the best way to do so (preferably without ever needing to be apart). Analysis: From looking at all of the available options, it seems like we are best suited to go for a Direct Consular Filing application. The reason being is that we both live legally in Canada at the moment, and it would allow us to apply from Canada (while continuing to work here), and move to the US together when the application is complete. We plan on living with her parents when we arrive in California, so we have our destination address ready as well. Could anyone verify if this would be the best course of action given our situation? Any additional info such as things to remember, or questions you have for me which might help you better answer my question are also welcome. Thank you and have a great day!

Which Service Center is my I-130 application being processed at? |

I submitted an I-130 application last week and when I check my case status online, it says: "On [...], we received your Form I-130, [...], and mailed you a receipt notice or acceptance notice. It is being processed at our Nebraska Service Center location. The notice describes how we will process your case. Please follow the instructions in the notice." However, when I received the receipt notice in the mail, the address at the bottom says California Service Center. Does anyone have any insight as to which office my case is actually being processed in?

I live in Toronto, Canada (PR of Canada). In anticipation of DS260 filing, I am trying to obtain a police clearance certificate from India, since I lived there between the age of 15 and 25. I lived in Bangalore at the time and the address I resided at is the address I have on my Indian passport. I left India in 2010 to live in Singapore, and my mother who lived at the aforementioned Bangalore address has since moved to another city in India (where I have never lived). She lives with my uncle (because she can t live alone due to medical conditions) and has no address proof for where she currently resides. What address am I to provide when I apply for Police Clearance and what documents do I need to provide? I have tried to reach both BLS and the consulate of India here in Toronto and there appears to be no way to get in touch with them. BLS does not have a working phone number and no one picks up at the consulate. Would appreciate advice from other folks who have experience with BLS Toronto and/or applied for PCC from India recently as a non-resident Indian.
