Based on what you know as of 2021 and the backlog due to COVID, would you file for a K1 visa or CR1 visa? I am from Canada and my petitioner is from USA. Our priority would be fastest processing time so that we can be together. Delays with work is not an issue since we are both financially stable. I used to work in the US under a F1 visa so I have established a social security number and credit cards as well. (Although not sure how that social security number will be affected afterwards). I appreciate your input!

Hello everyone, So glad that P.P. 10014 has been lifted! I m an immigrant visa applicant for F2B or visa class F24 and will be assigned to have an interview at the U.S. Consulate General in Montreal, Canada. My priority date is Jun. 16, 2015 and D.Q. on Aug. 28, 2020. Could anyone advise what s the estimated wait time for an interview letter from the Montreal Consulate? Also is there anyone will be having interviews in Montreal, Canada? Any input is appreciated.

I got an email today saying my visa interview will be on April 7th. My fianc in the US has yet to file her 2020 tax returns (we can do it in the next couple of days) so I am not sure if the scheduled interview date is too soon. We want to use her 2020 tax returns as she well exceeds the 125% poverty limit but her 2019 tax returns barely make it. Should I send an email to my embassy asking for a later interview date? I read another post saying it would take roughly 2-3 weeks for my fianc to get her IRS transcript which might be too late. Or if I keep the date, should I file the 2020 tax return ASAP and just bring the 1040 + all W2's for the 2020 year?

My I-485 was approved last week and card was mailed yesterday. I was thinking that SSN would come automatically because I recall checking box to request this, but now I'm realizing that was on the I-765, not the I-485. So, is it correct that I have to apply to SSA for an SSN? Also, it looks like offices are still closed (since March 2020). I'm a little wary of mailing green card, birth certificate, passport, etc. to SSA in order to get SSN. Have others done this? Thanks for your advice! And sorry if this is in the wrong place, couldn't find my answer elsewhere.
