US Immigration from Canada

Hello VJ Community,

I am just posting this for anyone who may be wondering whether USCIS reads or considers unsolicited evidence you upload to your USCIS online account when no RFE is requested. Based on our case, I would say yes after receiving my A-file via FOIA. My AOS was approved last month after waiting for over 1.5 years. Along the way, we accumulated more evidence to make our case stronger. My husband uploaded a new I-864 when I finally got a US job with evidence as the first one submitted at initial filing was very weak. We also uploaded new evidence of bona fide marriage that we accumulated since filing.

Being a "curious George", I elected to see what USCIS has about me so I requested my A-file via FOIA online. I received the ~1000 pages that USCIS has about me 10 days after FOIA request. The file showed that they used the unsolicited evidence to approve our case and waive our interview. We meant to give them an updated I-864 in our interview but I am glad we uploaded online instead. Our case was approved without interview. I always wondered whether USCIS uses unsolicited evidence that you upload and based on my FOIA A-file, they did. All unsolicited evidence that I thought made my case stronger were used. I just wanted to share.

I need to translate birth certificate and Nikah Nama into English since both are in urdu language. I remembered I used to notarized the documents or translation from civic center. Currently I m outside of country and send it to my uncle. But he didn t find any notary public or translation shop there.

If someone recently did this or know about where exactly in Karachi we can do translations of birth certificate and Nikahnama documents and also notarized the documents .

My wife is immigrating to the U.S. from Canada and recently had her immigration interview at the consulate in Montreal. We have a question on filling out Part 2 U.S. Entry Information. She has lived her entire life in Canada on a border town of the U.S. She has crossed hundreds of times over 30 years. She's never lived in the U.S., only visited many times. Do we still fill out Part 2?

As excited as we are to have a naturalization appointment scheduled in April, we are leaving on a trip to the Philippines very shortly after. We weren't expecting the turnaround to be so quick so we thought it would be after. Now it puts us in a dilemma.

From what it looks like, as a US citizen they will not accept a foreign passport when entering and leaving the US, correct?

Turnaround time for a US passport in that short of a timeframe seems impossible.

Can we ask for a delay of the naturalization appointment due to this?

Otherwise it's going to cost thousands of dollars to reschedule this trip.

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

Have a different question about the things after the NOA2.

I saw that you need to apply for the Affidavit of Support while applying for the DS-160 application.

The I-864 (Affidavit of Support) is to be filed in the US while the DS-160 application is for the beneficiary. How does this work?

Do I file the I-864 form in the US and submit the receipt when applying for the DS-160 in the beneficiary's country?

Any help is appreciated!
