NVC Assigned case number, confused on what's next...

I received an email on Feb 26 advising that the NVC received our approved I-129F petition and will now forward the petition to the U.S. Embassy or Consulate in Montreal, Canada. I have read multiple things that are leaving me confused.

1. I am unable to check the status of our case online. It always says "Your search did not return any data". I have tried putting NA in the passport number field and the name field, I've tried filling it out completely. I've tried just putting NA in the passport field. Still same results.

2. Can someone please confirm the correct link to check the status of a K1 Visa as it seems to be different than other visa's? Maybe I am just in the wrong place? lol

3. Should we be waiting for the letter from the embassy/consulate with the check list, etc before we file the DS160? I have read things that say to wait and I have read things that say to go ahead and file.

We are 2 weeks away from one year from our petition being received. Best of luck to you all, in love and quick processing times!

Thank you in advance for any assistance

Financial Institution Having a Hard Time Providing Evidence for I-134

Hello, I'm at the point in my K1 journey where my fiance needs me (the petitioner) to fill out form I-134. The instructions in that form ask me to provide evidence of my finances, which is not a big deal at first, but my main financial institution is having a really hard time trying to fulfill this request of evidence.

I've given them the exact instruction from the I-134 instructions:
"File evidence of income and resources, as appropriate:
1. Statement from an officer of the bank or other financial institutions with deposits, identifying the following details
regarding the account:
A. Date account opened;
B. Total amount deposited for the past year; and
C. Present balance."

For the last threes weeks, the update I've requested weekly from an agent at my financial institution is "we're reaching out to our higher ups to figure out how to provide this information."

I'm wondering if current petitioners filling this form out or past petitioners that have, also had a hard time with this?

Divorce decree/certificate needs to be notarized?

I've heard so many varying things, so any clarification would be greatly appreciated. When I got divorced I never got any physical copies of my divorce decree/certificate of divorce. I received digital copies with a digital signature on the certificate of divorce (the certificate that says when my divorce fully takes effect).

Now my question is, do I need to have a physical copy with the raised seal from the courthouse for my k1 interview in Montreal (it isn't for a while, but I wanna get ahead of this)? I've heard some people say if I was only provided the digital copies it'll be fine, but I've also heard that I need to have them notarized in order to proceed. This is causing a lot of stress because it's about as clear as mud. If I have to call the courthouse to get the proper physical copies with the raised seal (which were supposed to be mailed to me but never were) then obviously I'll do so, but any sort of actual answer would be great...I also noticed that on my certificate of divorce that my ex husband's first name is spelled wrong on one part and I'm unsure if that will cause any issues even though it's spelled correctly everywhere else...

Changing Address After NOA2 Approval

Hi everyone,

February 2025 filer. My petition was approved on October 14th, 2025.

I currently live in an apartment which the lease will end December 31. I have the option to go to month to month after the end of the lease. This apartment's address was used in my I-129F petition.

The main issue is, the current apartment will not allow dogs. My fiance and I have a dog together from when I was living with him pre-February 2025 (I was in Canada on a work visa for 3 years), which that dog is currently living at his place of residence in Canada. Once my fiance moves here, I will have to be living in an apartment that allows dogs.

I'm wondering if anyone has had to change their address during the petition process before? I'm assuming that its not easy it to inform the NVC (I'm also assuming that the petition even getting to the NVC at this point will be late December or early January 2026) or the U.S. Consulate/Embassy in Montreal about where my fiance and I will reside during this Visa process.

Please let me know if anyone has any insight. Thank you.

Questions regarding the I-129F form - addresses

Hey all! Actively filling out our form now!

Just a few questions as I really get into the weeds of this thing.

I've only had two addresses for the past five years, and I remember all the details about them. But my lady has had many addresses when she moved around a lot, and is having difficulty remembering exactly where she went and for how long. Is that a deal breaker if addresses are missing or inaccurate, or not a critical detail? What about timing of those addresses? She's trying to get the most accurate info she can for me. She has lived in the same place for about three years now, once she got settled in.

Another detail she is having trouble finding is the date of birth of her mom. I assume that is a critical detail, so I'm putting a priority on finding that.
