This is the ALTERNATE thread to the GOOD CS thread found here: http://www.visajourney.com/forums/index.php?showtopic=231026 If you are looking for warnings for RIP OFF merchants please have a read here. If you have your own warning to post, please post here :)

The reasoning behind this thread is because today I called a Civil surgeons in Iowa because I am moving from Houston to a town in Iowa and i wanted to see whether it was cheaper before I left, or cheaper once I got there.

This doctor:

52732 - Clinton, IA

• Dr. Oduah Daniel Osaro, Clinton Urgent Care Facility

108 South 4th Street, Clinton, IA 52732

(563) 241-1239

Price: $675.00 - for vaccination transcription so I was told but I assume the fees the same whether it's for a medical or just transcription.. i hope not more!!

No that's not a typo! I called the office to ask. I explained myself and the girl was thoroughly confused so put me on hold to speak to someone. She came back and told me "six seventy five" and i said "$6.75??" and she said no "$675". I said, "no way. Are you sure you understood what I said? I only need the vaccinations copied over, there is NO WAY it's $675 when it's a $20 job".. She confirmed the price and I again said "no way. Okay... can you ask someone else? 'cause that's a total rip off, like, i'm gunna have to report you to USCIS for that...". She placed me on hold and an African sounding gentleman (from Africa, not African American :P) took over the phone and he said "What are you asking?" and I repeated again the vaccination transcription etc and he said "yes it's $675.". Again I said "no way" and he said "yes well you better find someone else because I don't want you in my office. You can report me to the CIA". I was like "ummm no I said USCIS but okay" and that was it.

So WARNING!!! do NOT call that person. Do not even waste your time.

I am currently researching how to make a complaint and will update this post when I have confirmed the info that I already have. If you have already made a complaint successfully, please let me know so I can list it here :)

Thanks and GOOD LUCK!

Maybe "I'm going to report you to my immigration internet forum with tens of thousands of users + lots more lurkers" would be scarier than "I'ma tell USCIS who doesn't give a rat's behind". :D

I wish I was home when the East cost was still in business hours, I sort of have this fascination with calling CS offices to ask about transcriptions. :P

K-1:

January 28, 2009: NOA1

June 4, 2009: Interview - APPROVED!!!

October 11, 2009: Wedding

AOS:

December 23, 2009: NOA1!

January 22, 2010: Bogus RFE corrected through congressional inquiry "EAD waiting on biometrics only" Read about it here.

March 15, 2010: AOS interview - RFE for I-693 vaccination supplement - CS signed part 6!

March 27, 2010: Green Card recieved

ROC:

March 1, 2012: Mailed ROC package

March 7, 2012: Tracking says "notice left"...after a phone call to post office.

More detailed time line in profile.

yeah.. I wish I'd looked into who their real "scary person" was but I was so shocked! I was like "are you fricken kidding me??" and my husband and I have been laughing about the audacity of that douche bag for a while. I mean I expected that they might not know about the "no medical" part and was prepared to hear MAYBE $300, but nearly $700??!! They also seemed well aware of the transcription only, and were adamant it costs $675. I just need to get this guy shut down because how many people has he ripped off?

V., although the population "density" of civil surgeons in Iowa is certainly less than in Houston, you can travel to different cities with relative ease (seeing some great scenery in the process), not only in Iowa but across in Illinois. Look on the Iowa map and compare the list of available CSs with the towns & distances. If you want any hints on distances or ease of drive, I may be able to help (grew up in eastern Iowa, si man). Ironically, the ONLY city in Iowa where I ever got lost was Clinton, si man -- is that where you're moving?

06-04-2007 = TSC stamps postal return-receipt for I-129f.

06-11-2007 = NOA1 date (unknown to me).

07-20-2007 = Phoned Immigration Officer; got WAC#; where's NOA1?

09-25-2007 = Touch (first-ever).

09-28-2007 = NOA1, 23 days after their 45-day promise to send it (grrrr).

10-20 & 11-14-2007 = Phoned ImmOffs; "still pending."

12-11-2007 = 180 days; file is "between workstations, may be early Jan."; touches 12/11 & 12/12.

12-18-2007 = Call; file is with Division 9 ofcr. (bckgrnd check); e-prompt to shake it; touch.

12-19-2007 = NOA2 by e-mail & web, dated 12-18-07 (187 days; 201 per VJ); in mail 12/24/07.

01-09-2008 = File from USCIS to NVC, 1-4-08; NVC creates file, 1/15/08; to consulate 1/16/08.

01-23-2008 = Consulate gets file; outdated Packet 4 mailed to fiancee 1/27/08; rec'd 3/3/08.

04-29-2008 = Fiancee's 4-min. consular interview, 8:30 a.m.; much evidence brought but not allowed to be presented (consul: "More proof! Second interview! Bring your fiance!").

05-05-2008 = Infuriating $12 call to non-English-speaking consulate appointment-setter.

05-06-2008 = Better $12 call to English-speaker; "joint" interview date 6/30/08 (my selection).

06-30-2008 = Stokes Interrogations w/Ecuadorian (not USC); "wait 2 weeks; we'll mail her."

07-2008 = Daily calls to DOS: "currently processing"; 8/05 = Phoned consulate, got Section Chief; wrote him.

08-07-08 = E-mail from consulate, promising to issue visa "as soon as we get her passport" (on 8/12, per DHL).

08-27-08 = Phoned consulate (they "couldn't find" our file); visa DHL'd 8/28; in hand 9/1; through POE on 10/9 with NO hassles(!).

We're moving to a place about 45 mins west of Clinton but because it's the closest CS location then we thought we'd try there. We've since decided the $50 Houston people are just easy, they're just down the road from where we are at the moment. Thank you for your offer though :) My husband grew up in the place we're moving to (or rather him moving BACK and me moving there :P). Luckily we're not devoid of options (unlike with the panel physicians in Australia where there's only one in my state at the moment) so I don't need those people but I did want to warn people about this person, and any others if they're out there...

this post is too funny. I called every CS in my area (tampa/cleatwater/st. pete) and $200 was the lowest i could find for a full medical...which i didnt think was bad. But then i find out that I had to go to another clinic for the vaccines which was another $90. So I spent $290 which I could live with.

I called all the CS in my areas as well. Their fees do vary, in my area, from $220 to $105. Seems for no reason since the service is all the same. So I picked the $105 one. You have to do such research. That's why this whole application takes lots of time.

AOS Storyline:

---------- I-751 ----------

[July 11, 2012]: Biometrics appointment. [Day 42]

[June 27, 2012]: Received biometrics appointment notice. [Day 28]

[June 9, 2012]: Two-year green card expired. Driver's licence expired, too. Apply I-751 early, Folks! [Day 12]

[June 7, 2012]: Check cashed. [Day 10]

[June 1, 2012]: Package delivered to the Vermont office. USPS Priority is fast enough. [Day 4]

[May 29, 2012]: Sent I-751 package to Vermont office via Certified USPS Priority. [Day 1]

A long and short two-year. Time really flies!

---------- I-485 ----------

[June 9, 2010]: Interview Day! Very smooth after a long wait (2-3 hours wait). Got Green Card! [Day 89]

[May 7, 2010]: Received interview appointment - June 9th. No EAD yet though. [Day 56]

[April 20, 2010]: Biometric. About one hour wait time. [Day 39]

[April 7, 2010]: Walk-in biometric rejected. They didn't want to do it. [Day 26]

[April 4, 2010]: Received biometric appointment notice - April 20th. Dated March 30th. [Day 23]

[March 26, 2010]: Received NOAs for I-485, I-130, I-756, I-131. [Day 14]

[March 23, 2010]: Checks cashed. Case established on USCIS website. [Day 11]

[March 22, 2010]: Received texts and emails for receipt # for all 4 applications [Day 10]

[March 15, 2010]: Package received and signed by USCIS [Day 3]

[March 12, 2010]: Sent AOS package to Chicago office via USPS Express [Day 1]

[February, 2010]: Married.

[January, 2010]: Engaged.

[May 2008]: Met my husband.

[May 2006]: Changed to H1-B.

[Dec 2003]: Arrived as F-1.

Yeah I highly suggest calling around (and the "CS that doesn't rip off" thread is incredibly helpful). I opted for a $72.50 one that's a bit further away than the $150 one that's right next door. Also got the tetanus shot from my occupational health office for free. The process is already expensive enough so I'm happy to save some money here and there!
