Waiting For Case Completion At NVC

Hi All,

I sent both the DS-230 and I-864 with all documents last week in one envelope to NVC, and am currently waiting for the NVC to complete my case. Was wondering if anyone else is waiting as well?

USPS confirmed my envelope was delivered on 3/19/09, and AVR have been saying for the last few days "Your documents were received on March 20, 2009 and are currently under review. Please allow 6-8 weeks for an update." Does this mean both my DS-230 and I-864 packets were scanned into the NVC system?

I know it's only been 5 days, but am a little nervous that there's no specific updates yet. NVC operator told me today that her computer shows they received mail from me last week, but she could not see what it was yet on the computer because it's probably under review, and said to call back next week. Is this normal?

I checked others VJ members' timelines, and most had specific dates on when I-864 was scanned and approved and when DS-230 was scanned and approved. But I have not received any specific updates on either the DS-230 or I-864, just that they received my "documents" and are reviewing. Is this because I sent both DS-230 and I-864 in 1 envelope?

I guess the only good news thus far is no RFE have been issued. I been driving myself crazy looking at the NVC shortcut everyday and making sure none of the common RFE reasons posted by others applies to my case. Safe to say, not the best way to kill time while waiting.

Any advice would be appreciated and good luck to all waiting for those magic words "Case Completed"

Thanks th3mo. Am following up with NVC everyday, but dont' want to annoy them. I'm thinking 2 weeks from March 20 should be sufficient for them to complete, will be real worried if nothing by first week of April. Just curious, what was your RFE for?

You're fine. Don't start to worry yet.

Mailed my RFE back last week....waiting...

At least I know I'll be seeing my husband in 61 days (but not in the US- Istanbul for vacay).

Sheep: Baa-ram-ewe, baa-ram-ewe. To your breed, your fleece, your clan be true. Sheep be true. Baa-ram-ewe.

i'm waiting too, they should fix up the problem with IV fee , they told me to wait 10-15 working days

That's strange. Did you include the coversheet on top when sending in the IV? Normally, the coversheet would be the proof that you paid. Don't know why it would take them 3 weeks to fix, I would call everyday or ask to speak to a senior supervisor.

Hi mkg265, thanks for your reply. Not too worried, but I guess more paranoid. If possible, can you advise why you received a RFE? Thanks.

Currently even if you include the cover sheet, your IV or AOS bill may show up in their system as unpaid even if you paid it weeks ago. Sometimes it takes moments to clear up- sometimes it takes weeks.

I included my sponsor's 2008 W-2s without the 2008 taxes. I did include the 2007 taxes the W-2s.

oh sorry to hear that. i heard they handle RFE's quickly once they received the docs, so hopefully yours will be resolved soon.

I am in the same boat HSB. I sent both AOS and IV packages last week and FedEx confirmed delivery on Friday (March 20). The AVR says they have the documents. Talked to a rep once yesterday (March 25) and she wasn't very friendly and said to give it 2-4 weeks. It really matters who you get on the phone with these guys. I have had extremely nice and very helpful people and reps that are definitely on the other end of the spectrum.

Hi Nedino, nice to hear from someone in same exact place. But waiting time may be different for Bulgaria and Bangladesh. Heard from many that NVC always updates on Fridays, so mebe we will get some news (hopefully good) tomorrow. Another week of this waiting would be torture, since most Bangladeshis I seen were done in 7-10 days max. Best of luck to us both!
