Pasting this from a reply I did in NVC forum. It's pretty detailed and may help.

My package left NVC on 08 May 2008. This is what I did on the site http://track.dhl-usa.com/TrackByRef.asp?nav=TrackByRef

In the "reference" box, I put EXP 07 MAY 2008A (notice that's the day before they said it left)

They must generate their reference and do the packing the day before pick-up because EXP 08 MAY...didn't work.

Below in the "shipment pick up date range" I put May 8 2008 to May 8 2008 (I wanted to see things leaving NVC on only May 8)

Then click the red arrow that says "track"

There were three pages of shipments, so be sure and click "next" which indicates if there are more pages.

I noticed that there were 67 shipments leaving NVC on May 8, but each was to a different country (no duplicates) which tells me that they combine petitions going to the same Embassy. Looking at details on some shipments, the London package was 3 pounds and Manila was 40 pounds, so there must have been many petitions from Manila going together.

I did the same steps above for the previous day (May 7) and there were 16 countries, but they were all different from the May 8 countries. Thats 83 different countries in 2 days, with multiple petitions in many boxes! It kinda gives you an idea that many more petitions are being processed than just the timelines we stare at here on VJ. They may have some order in their mail room where different countries go out on different days of the week. It's just my speculation for what it's worth.

How does one know if there case has actually left the NVC. Is there an AVR after "Case Complete" that states the date on which it was forwrded to the Embassy/Consulate? Or do you have to talk to an operator? Is there a letter informing us of the dates? Or are these DHL trackings just "best guess" of VJers? Please someone put me in the loop.:blink::help:

 Congrats Tyrobe! Thats great news. So this means that your interview was assigned right? When you receive that AVR message it means that NVC assigned you a date with consulate?

Also once case is at Embassy, is it the emabssy that contacts foreign spouse and sends them medical information?

How long after case is complete is it shipped out to the embassy?

Since ours was complete on 05/20/2008, does that mean that it won't be shipped out till sometime in June, after we get an interview date?

I went to the DHL site and I seen a case being sent to ISL embassy ( may 21st) , but I am pretty sure it must be from someone's case that was complete last week?? I am sure it is way to soon for ours to be off to the embassy.

Thanks

Aisha

NVC will send appointment letter with all information inside to petitioner and beneficiary/applicant. Our interview date was assigned on Apr 14, I received the letter on 17th, my husband 10 days after.

The NVC will not ship the application until the interview date is set???? I called DOS and they said our application was sent by NVC and electronically received on May 19th. That the embassy had not received the hardcopy and to call next week. I assume it means that the application was sent via dhl but that although the embassy may have signed for it they may not have entered it as received as yet. Are my assumptions wrong?

it will vary from appointment post and not appointment. if you are appointment post they will ship it out in time for you appointment. and if they ship it accordingly.

another thing about DHL tracking is useless. yes you do know they get to embassy, but what you don't really know what happen after they get to the embassy and how long does it take for the embassy to open it.

so if i have appointment already just patience when the appointment come. if not call DOS about the statue
