Hello Everyone. I was very pleased to find this site.

My fiance and I met on the internet about a yar ago. We have been talking every since, and have come to love eachother very much (L) . We havent been able to meet in person just yet because I am in college and working. We plan on filing a I-29F form soon as I get the money. But I wonder if the embassy will grant us the visa, since we have not met in personj yet :help: .

Peter and I talk on the phone and have webcameras that use everyday to see eachother live.

To make matters more urgent, we want a baby. But When I was 17 I was diagnosed with Ploysytic Ovary Disease. And my doctors told me that the longer I wait the harder it will be for me to have achild until it is impossible :crying::( .

Does anyone have any information for us, or have filed for their fiance that they met over the internet? I'd appreciate any advice you could give thanks.....

Not a chance. the number one requirement is to meet in person within the last two years. The case will never be seen by an Embassy. USCIS will reject it. Don't waste the money filing the petition. You will get no refund.

No, you will waste your time and money if you file without having met.

It can be hard enough in this process even if you have met.

We filed June 06 and are still not done with the process.

So plan on meeting in person and get to know each other fase to face.

First of all welcome to VJ! I too met my fiance on the internet and I have been to see him twice. You do have to meet in person at least once and be sure to take many photos with you two together, with family and friends, and in front of landmarks or even with a newspaper with the current date. Also keep ALL of your receipts!

Hello,

It is possible to be exempt from the meeting requirement if it can proven that a meeting before matrimony is forbidden or highly undesirable in your religion or custom. I think this is more common in arrangements by family. I must add though that I have never heard of a couple that has done this with a K1, and I can't recommend it for more than a few reasons. Perhaps you should consult with a lawyer.

I believe that its very important to meet first in person in the presence of family, and I totally agree with the meeting requirement. I hope you do this. If your commitment and love is strong matrimony can wait until you have a proper meeting first.

The best of luck to you both.

I have to agree with Pushbrk, one of the base items that USCIS, and DOS look for is if the couple have met in person, and evidence of that, they wont approve with out it. And consulates like China can be sticky about only one visit too, and like to see more than one meeting. This is one of the big things needed to prove a true relationship.

OUR TIME LINE Please do a timeline it helps us all, thanks.

I do agree with the other posters. You gotta meet first. Even though there is the exception. Your visa process will most likely be much faster and less costly if you travel to meet in person for at least once.

These exceptions are VERY rarely given, and it seems your circumstances dont fit in with those. What you can do is get everything ready for submission and take the parts he needs to sign with you when you go visit. Then you can have him sign the papers while there, take lots of cheesy pics, have an amazing time, come home, photocopy it all and send it right in. Good luck, we all know how ridiculously expensive this whole horrible thing is, but in the end it will be worth it :)

Greetings:

First, I think people missed the fact that you are a student, and working. To me that screams of no time and no money to do this. Second, if you did somehow get the visa, how would you sponsor him? Or could you. I wonder also, beyond the child issue, which yes, is serious, but are you going to have a baby, need to go to school, and work....beyond that issue..why arent you waiting until you are more set, finished with school and able to support your SO while he acclimates to the USA?, gets a green card, and is ready to work. Marriage is always hard, but harder when you are both young (and you look young so if you arent...god is smiling on you LOL)....but when you are young and broke....thats really tough...After college you will have it so much easier. Just a thought.

Welcome to VJ! :)

There are many people who successfully go through the fiance visa process and they initially met on the internet. In your case, however, I do agree with the other responses you've received....there is very little chance that they will approve the I-129F petition if you have not met in your fiance at leas once within 2 years of filing the petition. USCIS will not take into consideration your medical condition at all...meaning they will not consider it as a reason to grant you a waiver to the meeting in person rule.

One small word of caution. You state that you plan on filing the petition as soon as you "get the money" to file. This process is quite expensive, the filing fee for the I-129F is just the beginning. There will be the cost of the medical exam, gathering of various documents needed, possible translation fees, and visa fee....and that is just to get the K1 visa. Afterwards, plane ticket to the US and you must keep in mind that once your loved one is here you will be the sole bread winner until you marry, file for adjustment of status (another very large application fee....since it looks like the filing fees will go up beginning in the fall of this year) and your man gets his work authorization. Not to mention that during both the visa interview and the subsequent status adjustment process you will have to provide information regarding your financial situation, and if it found to be unsatisfactory it can trigger a denial.

You have a very costly process ahead of you, and if already at this point you are not in a position financially to be able to afford it....you may think about holding off for a little while longer. That said, please look around this site....in particular look at the guides. They offer a wealth of information and give you a better idea of what the process entails.

Good luck! (F)

Can he afford to travel too? Can he travel to Europe? Perhaps you can meet up in a 3d country, somehow between the two of you (not necessarily geographically between, but just something that eases the expense for both of you)?

You don't have to meet in person in one or the other's country. You just must have been in the same place, at the same time, together, meeting at some point in the last 2 years.

Best of luck.

I truly wish you the very best of fortune in your persuit of happiness. It may well reduce the overall expense of meeting in person to do so in Europe. At least it is pretty cheap to get there from most places in the US.

On the other hand, you must be realistic. There are significant expenses for the visa process itself and then the burden of meeting the public charge concerns of the Embassy's Consular Officer, followed by getting the foreign fiance to the US, accomplishing the marriage and filing the adjustment of status. Each step carries significant expense. The initial filing fee is less than the tip of the iceberg. Are you ready? If so, go for it and never look back.

No one missed the fact that shes in college and working, its stated clear in her post. A majority of us are in college and working, AND raising children already and went thru the process, including meeting our fiance's before filing for the visa. If you were implying that she may be able to use college and work as a reason to be exempt from the NUMBER 1 rule in k-1 visa which is meeting BEFORE filing, it will never happen.

as for the rest of what you said, i agree with
