Community SpotlightAbandoned AOS and now regret it
Mariammaria posted a topic in Adjustment of Status Case Filing and Progress Reports,
Please be nice, I know I made a mistake... But got my K1 approved and arrived in the US June 25, 2024 and applied for AOS February 25, 2025 -- then left the US (abandoned my AOS). Will I be banned for re-entry to the US -- even under a spouse visa?-

US Citizen with Foreign Fiancé: When and How to Get Married?
gandalf1989 posted a topic in IR-1 / CR-1 Spouse Visa Process & Procedures,
I'm currently living and working in the United States. My fiancé currently lives in Japan. We have been dating for about 6 months, and we have met in person several times, but we are not yet married.
My fiancé will be visiting me in the United States on a tourist visa some time in March or April and staying for about 3 months. I want to file for a fiance/spouse visa asap -- what's next?-

N400: Admitted to Weed during Green Card (was it a crime I was not arrested for?)
Left Over posted a topic in US Citizenship General Discussion,
To start, marijuana is illegal in my country of origin. When I was applying for my green card I admitted to trying marijuana when I was in my 20's (I'm 49 now). I got my green card and have lived in the US for 5 years. I'm in the process of applying for citizenship. What answer should I give to the question: "Have you EVER committed, agreed to commit, asked someone else to commit, helped commit, or tried to commit a crime or offense for which you were NOT arrested? Yes or No" given that I admitted to past marijuana use during the GC process?-

Fiancée threatened with deportation by customs agent after arriving at airport for false accusations. How concerned should we be?

Firstly, I want to get some things clear because I know everyone will say this otherwise:
We are seeing an immigration attorney for consultation soon. We've already printed out several documents to prove that my fiancée is not coming here with the intent to live here for the future until they get the K-1 Visa... Now, Heres the actual story...- 53 replies
Fiance or Marriage Visa in 2025 ? Pros and cons?
KandB posted a topic in What Visa Do I Need - Family Based Immigration,
I'm 23F 🇨🇿, my partner is 29M 🇺🇲
We want to get our visa going sometime this year and want to be together as soon as possible but we are still unsure which visa would serve us better. I'd like to get married in my home country but on the other side i wouldn't mind getting married paperwise in the US and waiting for my work permit and etc if it would allow us to be together faster and then save up for and have our dream wedding in my home country.
What do you think ? All of this is so overwhelming and confusing and we just want to do the right thing.
I asked the same question on reddit, so many people recommended me to go with fiance visa, two suggested marriage visa. I need more input and advice from experienced people. Thank you
Ps: is it possible to have dual citizenship so i don't lose one from my home country? How does that work ?- 31 replies

3 RepliesHi Everyone
I would really appreciate some direct advice or feedback on our situation. I have tried searching throughout this forum and google to get a basic idea of things, but at the same time I don't understand it quite well enough to be sure how to proceed for such a major life path decision. I'm not sure if the culture of this forum is going to be hostile towards me for potentially asking a common question, but I hope you can understand why I want some direct feedback.
Our goal: Live in Thailand but spend time in the US 2-4months per year (seems impossible for now). Once/if we have children age 5+, the time split would become vice versa.
- Thai girlfriend 26, American boyfriend 35 (me)
- We live together in bangkok for over a year
- I am here on the Thailand elite visa which is a special longterm tourist visa
- I am retired from formal work, and I compete professionally in a sport around Thailand and asia. I have assets in the millions USD.
- girlfriend previously worked basic white collar job in Bangkok but now quit so she can travel with me and support our relationship and household
- she has no assets or truly valid ties to Thailand
- she has no travel history aside from joining me to Vietnam twice for short trips
- she is an amazing human and I love her dearly, but this is irrelevant to US officers
We have no plans to live full-time in the United States in the next 5 years, but I visit my family and friends 2-3x per year for 2-3 weeks at a time. I would love it if she can join me for those trips and experience that part of my life.
From my understanding, her chance of getting a B2 tourist visa to join me on my upcoming trip in September of this year for a wedding and a sports competition is basically 0% and waste of time and money. Is that accurate? It seems to be a violation to apply for B2 and K1 at the same time? I don't care about gambling away $185 but I do care about wasting months delaying the inevitable K1 for a 99% rejection B2.
Moving onto the K1 visa option if B2 visa is impossible. I am certain I want to marry this girl, but as I said we do not want to live in the United States full-time until we have children that are school aged. Going the K1 visa route --> green card --> Citizen would be a lifestyle burden. However, from my research it could be literally the only possible way for her to ever set foot on US soil legally.
1. apply for K1 visa
2. wait months (years?)
3. Fly to US, get married
4. Apply for green card and exit travel permit
5. Spend minimum 6 months per year in the US
6. After 3 (?) years of this, she can apply to be a US citizen
7. Citizenship granted
8. We finally have the freedom to live the lifestyle we want
Is the above outline of steps fairly accurate?
Is above likely the only way for her to see the US legally? I see that applying for a B2 visa after getting married in Thailand is even more impossible than as an unemployed non wealthy girlfriend?
Is there a recommendation for help and expedition (agency, lawyer, etc) of getting the K1 visa in hand in bangkok?
I welcome any criticism or feedback on options or information that I am overlooking!! It has all made me really disappointed with the way the US border, visas, and immigration is managed. You as an american could very well never be allowed to bring your own wife to visit the United States.
I-797C NOA for I-751 - Extension? 5:57 pm yesterday

4 RepliesHi there! We filed out I-751 on 5/12/25 and received our NOA I-797C 5/23/25. I was hoping it would state an extension on my husband's greencard (2 year, CR1) as it is set to expire in July. The NOA does not mention anything about extending the greencard. Is there another step we need to complete to prove there is an extension in place?
Thank you!
Advice on moving to the US as a solo entrepreneur 5:15 pm yesterday

3 RepliesHello everyone,
I m hoping to get some advice about obtaining a US visa sometime in the near future. I am a 23 year old from the UK, and have travelled solo to the US various times for extended periods and one day hope to be able to stay out there for good!
I currently run an online business selling jewellery and accessories which brings in around 40-50k revenue annually, as well as being employed as a marketing manager for a separate fine jewellery business.
After doing some research, it seems that if I were to pursue the entrepreneur route, the O1 visa seems to be the most appropriate. Can anyone give me some feedback on just how attainable something like this may be in my case, or if it would be easier to go down a different route entirely?
I am considering consultations with immigration lawyers to get a more detailed understanding tailored to my situation - is this generally worth doing or would it be better to go about it all independently?
Yes. I m aware of the immense challenge that I face, and that most responses to queries like this are often implying that there is no hope but any genuine advice for me going forward, even just something that I may be able to aim towards in the future, would be immensely appreciated!
Thanks in advance!

1 RepliesMy case at NVC was flagged as CSPA eligible more than 1 year ago and the category was converted from F1 to IR2. However, I did not take any steps to acquire the visa. Will CSPA still apply? If not, do I contact NVC to correct the category back to F1 (it is still IR2)?

5 RepliesI was married in 2013 and have my 10yr green card. During the marriage I had a child with someone else in 2017. My ex and I tried to work things out but when covid came he decided it was time to move on. Partly because I told him my child was mine and only mine. In 2021 we officially got divorced. Will they hold it against me for having my son. I get along real well with my ex.
