Proof of Intent (to not jump the system!) Visiting mid-process

So, my fiance decided there was no way he wasn't going to come for Christmas. He gets ridiculously more time off than I do. I might have been able to pull it off, except after my last visit I got very very ill (no doubt a bug I caught on the plane!) and was out of work for four and a half days. We know there's a chance we might get denied entry at the airport but in an attempt to negate this we have put together the following:

- bank statement (relatively poor.. prove he's not intending to stay ie: can't afford it!)

- letter from his employer stating what day he is due back at work

- all of our paperwork

do you guys think that's enough? If not, what else would you suggest bringing?

you can visit mid-process?!?!?! haha...

::There’s a laugh in my eyes::

There’s a waltz in my walk

And it’s been such a long time

Since there was hope in my talk

If you never knew

What it is that’s new.. it’s you

‘Cause when your hands are in mine

You set a fire that everyone can see

And it’s burning away

Every bad memory

To tell you the truth

If it’s something new.. baby it’s you

It’s you in the morning

It’s you in the night

A beautiful angel came down

To light up my life

The world’s a different place

Where nothing’s too hard to say

And nothing’s too hard to do

Never too much to go through

To tell you the truth

Everything that’s new.. baby it’s you

It’s you in the morning

It’s you in the night

A beautiful angel came down

To light up my life

My life, my life

Ohh

So if I get to grow old (oh if I get to grow old)

With many years behind me (many years behind me)

There’s only one thing I want (aahh)

One thing I need beside me

For all that you are

For everything you do

For all that you’ve done

Just for showing me the truth

Thanks. I'm kinda hoping they understand that its Christmas, of course you wanna be together, and not find it terribly suspicious. We'll see though. He wanted to try, and I know an immigration officer and she said that really it shouldn't be a problem as long as he doesn't arrive with with a huge pile of belongings, and large sums of money.

Anyway. Good luck at your interview!!!

if you have anything pertaining to his living arrangements - ie rental agreement or mortgage statement - that goes down well I hear :)

someone else said they were booking their flight to Canada and then trying a land entry to the US... that way if they got denied they'd still be in North America and maybe the USC could see them... don't know if the cons outweigh the pros with something like that, but it's maybe worth considering :)

all the VERY best with it... of course you want to see each other if you can; hopefully the US border guards will understand that ;)

The Very Secret Diary of Legolas Son of Weenus - by Cassandra Claire

Day One: Went to Council of Elrond. Was prettiest person there. Agreed to follow some tiny little man to Mordor to throw ring into volcano. Very important mission - gold ring so tacky.

Day Six: Far too dark in Mines of Moria to brush hair properly. Am very afraid I am developing a tangle.

Orcs so silly.

Still the prettiest.

Day 35: Boromir dead. Very messy death, most unnecessary. Did get kissed by Aragorn as he expired. Does a guy have to get shot full of arrows around here to get any action? Boromir definitely not prettier than me. Cannot understand it. Am feeling a pout coming on.

Frodo off to Mordor with Sam. Tiny little men caring about each other, rather cute really.

Am quite sure Gimli fancies me. So unfair. He is waist height, so can see advantages there, but chunky braids and big helmet most off-putting. Foresee dark times ahead, very dark times.

He pays rent to his step parent to rent a loft, so there's no written lease unfortunately. :( But hopefully the work committments will be enough.

Nothing is stopping you from getting a tourist visa while you wait. However, you're in the same boat that I am, which is that Egyptians (Russians in my case) have an almost zero chance of getting a tourist Visa to the U.S. You'll have to show substantial assets, an extremely well paying job, and many ties to your country. It would be much easier for your USC to visit you.

Regarding the OP's question, also bring a copy of the I-129F packet and copy of NOA1. It will at least show that you're intending to come to the US the right way.

I visited several times during the K1 process. I took proofs but was not asked for them. I didn't mention the K1 visa as I wasn't asked about it. I told them I was staying with a friend.

17th March 2010 - Started the removal of conditions process

22nd March 2010 - Application received by CSC

30th April 2010 - Biometrics appointment

you evidently don't hang about much in the main part of this section; the question is asked - and patiently answered - on an average of once a day

as mox says though, a lot depends on how you're travelling... there are no guarantees for ANYONE, but if you're from a country on the Visa Waiver Program you seem to have a lot more chance (though that said, you also TAKE the chance, of buying a ticket and setting out just on spec, and maybe being turned away at the border and made to fly home again... at least if you have to get a tourist visa, you know in advance whether you're likely to be successful or not)

do you guys think that's enough? If not, what else would you suggest bringing?

I suppose this is stating the obvious, but make your fiance has a return ticket, or a printout of the itinerary showing the return date.

Also, in the case of the bank statements, not having tons of money is good, but I think he should at least show that he has enough to support himself for the holiday...

I visited shortly after my NOA1 and got through no problem. Good luck!

Well yeah, btu there's a difference between having 1200 quid and 5000 quid. :D

But thanks for the tips. I'm pretty sure he'd remember to bring the return itinerary, but it never hurts to remind. (or point him to this thread :D)

The OP is from the UK and can visit using the visa waiver program. For many countries, visiting during or even before the process is next to impossible. I doubt it's a viable option from Egypt unless there's a history of visiting and returning to Egypt. You could ask in the appropriate regional forum. There are no refunds on visa application fees, so caveat emptor.
