I have a pretty good life here in Brazil. I make my own living as software engineer and manage to make a pretty comfortable life. The weather is nice, the people are nice and my family that I love is near.

Honestly, as far as I care, you can keep your smelly country. It boils my blood when people imply I might have married Chris just to get a visa. It is actually a huge sacrifice I am making to leave this country that I love.... but I love him more :)

Hi....I do not think my country is smelly. I LOVE THE USA!!!! But, it boils my blood when someone takes advantage of a man (or woman) to improve their life by marriage with an American. Karina is a poor, but beautiful woman without a good job...earns less than $400.000 pesos per month ($200 US), without much education, a 14 year old daugher and a poor life with no future. I offered LOVE first but I do not like to be taken advantage of...and I DESPISE LIES...and I caught her in several. Honestly, telling the truth would have been so much easier and built my confidence in her. But, to lie to me in my face when I know the answer? What happens??? I sent $1.000.000+ more to her each month so she can party with her friends, drink, smoke and dance with other men? And, she dresses very sexily all the time??? What happens? That money was for necessities...not partying! NO ME GUSTA ESTO!!!

I'm sorry, I shouldn't have said your country is smelly. I understand how outraged you must be feeling and I agree that your wife's actios were unjustifiable.

I'm just really tired of hearing over and over again that the only reason a person would go to such trouble would be to get a green card. Hardly someone will just trust that we're just trying to be a couple.

I don't know why americans must feel like their country is the best in the world and that everyone else is just dying to go there, so much that we'd be willing to be involved in a fraud. It's very unfair to make this kind of judgement imo.

I didn't marry a nationality, I married a person.

You're ruled by complete idiots, your currency is going down the shitter, you are by the neck with taxes to help support illegal imigrants and generic low lifes, you're head first into a war that you are going to lose. You are hated as a nation and ideology by pretty much everyone else.

Really, it's no promise land

Great attitude. You will make a wonderful addition to the US.

well, that is pretty much true about the US right now.. it doesn't really matter where you live.. it's WHO you live with... I can live in a cave on an island... but if I live with my wife, there is ENOUGH WARMTH to go around... we love each other very much and will take care of each other..

exactly! that's the sole reason why i'm putting up with this humiliation

So then why come here at all? I mean....marrying an American does not mean you have to come to America to live.....why not live in the promise land of Brazil, since the weather is nice, the people are nice and your family is there?

If as a couple you and your husband made a decision for you to relocate to the US(rather than vice versa), then please have the courtesy to not publicly bash this country that will be your home.....at least not until you've lived here for a while.

that's true too.. I just lived here for more than 20 years, so I know that the US is getting "poorer" now compared to the other countries (as well as the major drop recently in the dollar vs other currencies).. but each country has it's good and bad things.. There may be more AVAILABLE resources here than compared to other countries.. but it is HOW YOU USE THEM that is important and will allow you to have a good life with your wife/husband..

Dear Craig, while I feel sorry for you and I am glad you got rid of a liar,

it is not a sound advise to bug your SOs computer and to design certain "tests". One who approaches relationships from this angle will always lose!

As well, you have to realize that US is not viewed as The Greatest Country To Live In The World by everyone, and so generalizing may be found insulting by some aliens, hehe

I understand tho, it is your hurt talking.

BTW, is the little girl your own daughter? What's going to happen to her?

No, Maria is not my daughter. But, I was willing to accept her as my own. I loved that little girl. Her "father" was never in the picture. I do not know what will happen to her. But, I am sorry...very sorry because I can only think that she will follow in the footsteps of her mother. I wanted to be a good father and raise Maria with good values, good life and a good education. But, all went down the tubes because I lose all my "confianza" in Karina...little by litte since our wedding. I wish BOTH of them the very best.

Dear Greg,

all is for the best. You found your wife lies to you, it is not something you would ever be happy with, you are divorcing. It had to happen, and sooner is better than later. You will be OK. You may eventually find another soul, who does not lie. Those are rare, but hey, being single is fun, so treat this situation with some optimism - that would be my advise

The story you tell is outrageous, I agree (F)

FOR THE RECORD: I did not say that the United States of America was the best place on earth to live. I said, I LOVE THE USA!!! And, I will add that while there are some faults within the USA, I do not see many other countries sending their citizens...men and women...to fight and die for the freedoms of citizens of other countries who are killed for their religion or belief, opressed, and forced to live in poverty, fear and despair. Maybe the USA is seen by some as the "Bully" of the world...but, I choose to believe that the USA stand for all "Good and Decent People" from all over the world. We believe in certain freedoms and certain inalienable rights that everyone should enjoy. IF the USA does not step in and "do something" who is going to do it? Our men and women of our armed services do a difficult job in difficult situations. They deserve our prayers and our respect for their lives are on the line for freedom...yours, mine and for everyone.

Thanks,

Craig

The story may be terrible, but at least you found out sooner than later, though it may not be soon enough for you. Things will get better for you and its sad to hear that some people are that shallow.

And ignore the people who are hating on you in this thread about America. Everyone has the right to their own opinion, and I don't think he wants to start an e-fight on the American economy at the moment.

I'm really sorry about your situation Craig and I do agree with you in that there are many, way too many people living in third world countries who see foreigners as their saviors, which is wrong. I just hope you don't assume that all of us Colombian women are the same (even though #s and statistics speak louder than words).

Wish you all the best in your future!

Yes, I did post this several months to help a friend who married with a woman from Estonia. His name is Arthur and he lives in Miami. Would you like his phone number? And, they are getting a divorce now. Why did I put the post up? To help someone who was hurting and to give him some advice from this wonderful forum...and because I am a nice gentleman. Is there a problem with this? If so, I will apologize. We are all here to help and support each other...aren't we?

hmmmm Craig, I saw your OPORTUNISTAS post few months earlier too, and felt bad for you back then and posted so too. You can delete the post but can't delete my memory. So either you really want sympathy from other people or you got some thing against latin women and want to install doubts in any shaky relationships on VJ, or, You could be a real victim, in which case the burden of proof is on you to explain why you posted this post again acting as if this incident just happened now.
