Ok so I'll throw this out to you hair experts.

My friend (yes it really is my friend haha) - her hair has been breaking off.

It started about a year ago. Nothing had really changed except that she moved to a new house. She does color her hair - but has for years. She has tried everything:

- New shampoos/conditioners (she says her hair feels gunky sometimes after she washes it)

- clarifying shampoo/conditioner

- Satin pillowcases

- Leave in conditioners

Anyway, it's really bothering her, it looks like she has a little bowl cut on the top part of her hair (hair is shoulder length).

One thing she has noticed is she wakes up in the middle of the night sometimes and she is moving her head back and forth on the pillow

The strangest thing is the hair is all breaking off in pretty much the same place, ie about 5 inches from the top of her head.

Obviously not ALL of it is breaking off - luckily she has very thick (straight btw) hair - but it's enough to be very noticable!

Anyone ever heard of this, any suggestions?

The moving her head thing is what got me- if this is a habit- the excess rubbing can definitely cause breakage. She can wear her hair up when she sleeps- it will protect the hair on the crown, but she may end up getting new breakage along the hairline- but if this does happen, then she will know for sure this is the reason.

Peace to All creatures great and small............................................

But when we turn to the Hebrew literature, we do not find such jokes about the donkey. Rather the animal is known for its strength and its loyalty to its master (Genesis 49:14; Numbers 22:30).

Yes. My aunt has the exact same thing happen. She constantly dyes her hair to cover grays. But instead of just doing roots (which is a little labor intensive) she does the whole mop. Her hair was all brittle and broke off right above the shoulders, never could grow it out. She started using those "Brilliant Brunette" and the like shampoos and conditioners and it made a huge difference. Hid the grays and didnt french fry her hair. Made it much easier to grow out without breakage.

Biggest mistake someone can make is not checking the BACK OF THIER HEAD after they've finished styling their hair....

Helllooooo.... you may not be able to see the back of your head, but the rest of us have to... :P

A great marriage is not when the "perfect couple" comes together.

It is when an imperfect couple learns to enjoy their differences.

we used to have this neighbor who had a comb over but he must have used tonnes of hairspray or gel to keep it that way because when the wind blew it would pick up his comb over in one piece and it would flap around in the wind
