Hey all,

I'm at the end of my K1 journey, and have received my visa. The thing now is, when my fiance came for a visit before the interview, he brought along a duplicate copy (he made one as instructed here in the K1 guide) of the original petition we sent to CSC. That packet weighs like 8 lbs! So my question is, can I toss it? Or do I need it? What do you guys do with it? I certainly do not want to carry it with me to the US...

Thanks guys!

I can't see why you'd need to keep it. You have been approved and have a visa. The copies are to ensure that if a question arises at the interview you are prepared with copies of everything in the original petition. Besides, you said your fiance has originals. Toss 'em!!!

Keep the notifications from USCIS and the copy of the vaccination copy, at least. Those you will need for sure. I'd keep everything at least until you had the GC.

I've kept one full and complete copy of everything I have submitted so far, along with all communications and stuff I have received throughout this process. With the extra copies I made of some of the K-1 stuff, I just used them if needed in subsequent filings. The rest is in a pile to be shredded or burned, depending on my mood :P

I'm probably just going to keep a copy of my entire K1 package. Call me paranoid, but I'd hate that feeling of regret in case I needed to go back to it at any point. (Kinda like when I threw away the old paystubs at one of my jobs before I moved, only to find out that I needed that for proof of documentation later on...)
