You can get pulled over in MN for that. They call it obstructed view or something like that. A cracked windsheild, too much stuff in your back window, tinted windows, ECT. all treated the same. Just a money maker for the city or county. Even seatbelts are a primary offense in Minnesoviet now.

I have to wonder what was in his car that required so many air freshners that it obstructed his view.

Also, I tend to think they were the little pine variety. Therefore, he could not see the forrest for the trees.

Cops in Louisiana have a special meter to measure whether window tint meets their state legal specifications. Offenders are ticketed and fined.

Yes siree. Cops have a whole list of "probable cause" reasons to light up a car and pull 'em over. That is when they often find the narcotics, weapons, alcohol, outstanding arrest warrants, etc., etc.

It starts out with minor infractions that initiate "probable cause" and ends up with a trip to the cross bar hotel as a guest of the taxpayer. Dat's how it goes.

"Credibility in immigration policy can be summed up in one sentence: Those who should get in, get in; those who should be kept out, are kept out; and those who should not be here will be required to leave."

"...for the system to be credible, people actually have to be deported at the end of the process."

Well was his view obstructed? Maybe it could have obstructed the view of other drivers.

OMG!!! How many little trees does one have to have sticking out of the car to obstruct the view of OTHERS? *shudder* to think.

Cops in Texas have that, too. But when we get pulled over, we just peel off a layer of tint :D

What usually happens is they get pulled over for a minor offense. Then lie to the cop about drinking, drugs, weapons, ect. When the officer asked permission to search , the person agrees to a search then get busted.

In my youth I get pulled over plenty of times I just told the officer the truth and was let go. They don't like being lied to. A few times I didn't consent to a search either and was let go.

Nothing frustrate me more that this nonsense of cracking down on so called nusance offenses. I want my tax dollars spent by the police going after REAL CRIMINALS! But, alas, that is too hard...its just easier to stick it to the normal citizens who arent going to run away, hide or shot back.... Ugh!!!!!!!!

I have a girlfriend who always has a bunch of air fresheners in her car- because she smokes pot in her car.

If I see a car with lots of air fresheners, that is my first thought.

yeap, mine too..

While the stop may well still have been illegal, I'd put a great deal of money on the cop's reasoning being "he must be a drug courier" rather than "he must be an illegal alien."

Extra air fresheners are commonly used to hide the smell of drugs and sometimes to try to fool drug-sniffing dogs (which doesn't work, if you're wondering). Other common scents officers keep a nose out for (heh) are mustard and coffee beans.
